I've never understood why so many people do take it lightly, but then again, I've also never understood people in general, so I guess that's to be expected.
Maybe age has something to do with it? I know more people above 35 who don't want to drive in general, at night or at highways because they think it's scary than people who are younger than about 22
Well, it's best to try to find a happy medium between doing the fun things you love that may be risky and locking yourself in a closet for the rest of forever. You know, like, if you like sky-diving check all your gear before you go out and make sure you've got a backup parachute. If you like driving fast, only do it on like a Sunday morning on the highway where there's much less traffic.
Basically being aware of your own mortality should just help you be safer in general, not cause you to be a paranoid hermit a la Clear Rivers in Final Destination 2.
EDIT: Note, the speeding thing is just an example. I do not condone, nor am I liable for, any laws broken or the consequences thereof. TL;DR: Don't try this at home?
I agree with you. However it's those examples aren't things which cause you to be very conscious of your mortality on so daily basis, which/what (?) I was kind of aiming at
I've always been very aware of my mortality, even as a young child. It doesn't make me paranoid, just aware of things. Anytime I'm walking down the road and a car goes past, I'm aware of the fact that if I'd been a little farther over or if they'd been a worse driver, I could have died. I dunno. It doesn't really scare me much when it comes to those kind of things, nor does it make me appreciate life more. For me it's just kind of knowledge and acceptance of what life is, in most situations, anyhow. Obviously I do fear some things, just in general being aware of my mortality doesn't positively or negatively impact me. I could just be weird though.
I hear a lot of people complaining about how they can't get a job with a degree. A lot has changed these days. Those days are so gone. Now it is about getting a lot of experience from everywhere and knowing people.
I so wouldn't be where I am without knowing people like career wise.
Yeah those structurally unemployed. If you get a degree from a job thay is always in demand you are garenteed a job. Sometimes you have to move for one. Internships add to your resume, activities in college, fraternities, all the good stuff. Finally don't go into journalism.
Wow this place has changed a lot since I've last been here. I'm kinda lost.
Might start a pokemon theory thread or something. There aren't any of them floating around anywhere are there? Wonder if people would be interested... Doesn't seem as active here as it was before.
I think it's because there have been a lot of theories since the SM announcement, and now it's starting to dry up. Should have been here for the announcement, it was crazy! xD
I hate driving. Even when I was a teenager, I was never overeager to drive. I took driving lessons and got my license the day before my 17th birthday, but it was entirely out of necessity.
To me, driving will never be relaxing unless I am the only car on the road and/or I finally get the birthday present I've been requesting for years now: a fully functional phaser array and photon torpedo tubes for my car so that I can blast all the idiots off the road.
I tend to be clumsy and my body hates me, so I'm fairly certain I'd hit something or someone and I honestly have no reason to drive as I can't afford a car, anyway, and there are people here who can take me to where I need to go. It kinda works out for me, and hopefully that won't change.
If I move away at some point, I'll definitely go somewhere that has a lot of public transport if possible. That's not the most comfortable situation, especially not trams, but it will getcha from point A to point B well enough.
