Considering Lyrebird's from Australia I'd be almost sure she was talking about what Americans call soccer.

I just don't really know much about American football, it's not popular where I live so it's rare to watch matches here.

American football is stupid. It's like "Hey, do YOU want a concussion and also brain damage?? WELL, WE'VE GOT THE SPORT FOR YOU"

Funny thing is i played 4 years of football and 3 of baseball and I got my serious injury while practicing baseball. The weird part was that almost everyone who played the two got injured in baseball. Except one kid he kept on getting concussions in both.

Any sport where they force you to stop playing forever cause of injuries is too dangerous. I've known several people, including my ex, that were forced by the coach to quit the team because of injuries.

I play the proper footy (Aussie Rules) :p. I think American footy is confusing, and soccer isn't too exciting unless it's a bigger league. They're not bad, but I just prefer the code I grew up with.

Well no, professional teams will force you to quit over injuries, because it's about money. I was talking about high school, where generally you're playing cause you want to. Hell, on my wrestling team if someone got a bloody nose coach would stuff tissue paper up their nose and send them back out unless the guy didn't want to wrestle anymore I guess? Point is, the decision was up to us, so if an injury is serious enough where a high school coach is forcing you to quit, then that's pretty fucked up, I think. Never heard of any other sport where that would happen (maybe rugby? We didn't have a rugby team where I went to high school so I've no idea).

I had to quit because of several injuries. I played football (soccer), ran track, played hockey, basketball and tennis.

So yeah 90% of sport. I stand by my statement. I had a friend who had shoulder surgeries after injuries after injuries. I had knee issues and Ive torn calf and my hammy. I had a friend with nerve damage to their knee due to cricket.

Eugh, well I hope your injuries aren't causing you trouble now. My shoulders are kinda screwed up but I'm glad it doesn't get in the way of life.

From what I know you can't get used to injuries that cause lasting pain... there will always be pain.
If you feel just fine they have probably healed.

They are fine enough. Every sport can cause you to have a career ending injury. It is naive and ridiculous to think it is just contact sports like wresting, rugby or football. Several sports include unnatural movements of the body. Take a tennis serve for example. Look how much pressure is on the legs. That's where all the powers comes in.

We had a game back in the day. You line up a bunch of gummi bears and then flick them on to someone's mouth. Whoever catches the most obviously wins.

I don't think I've ever heard of a top-tier professional athlete who hasn't suffered a sports-related injury during their career. It's almost to be expected, but not something to be feared. When aspiring for greatness, it's inevitably going to increase the chance of greater risk, and greater rewards as well. That's what makes it worthwhile to pursue.

Yeah, that's how sports roll. You get injured and career ends. Then you don't know what to do after that. I don't get people who are like "Athletes gets paid too much" Well it is because they are been doing it their whole lives and one injury could end it just like that and also market dictates the wages.

Actually I believe their wage is proportionate to the money they make. The team tickets, merchandise, congestion, TV contracts, advertisement, and everything else makes so much money cause of them. it is true their career could be over any minute but whats also true is that they are making some people very rich.
