Rules Bulbagarden Forum Rules - *New set valid immediately*

Hey, question about rule 6...

6. Don't ask for or provide illegal pokémon content (Copyright Violation, 4 points, 2 months)
-This includes emulators, roms, full episode downloads/streams and similar (short clips are allowed).
-This also include advertising or asking about fan-made games, illegal manga scans, or fansubs.

Okay, you can't ask for or provide or advertise fan-made games. But let's say I had some ideas for a fan-made Pokemon game, like maybe new Pokemon or Moves I've dreamed up. Just ideas, no actual content or downloads, not even a website. Could I post my ideas in one of the fan forums?

I have a lot of ideas for a Pokemon fangame, but I'm not actually making one because I have no programming or art talent. I'd just like to share the ideas, get some feedback (especially of what people think of the fairness of the Moves I've dreamt up; I'm not much of a competitive player so I wouldn't know if something would be abusable or broken), and most of all, just have fun.

Would this be okay or should I take it to some other forum?

Edit: Okay, it's been over 24 hours. After 48 hours I'm just gonna go ahead and post the topic and hope it's okay.

"Fakemon" and other hypothetical ideas like that are fine. We already have threads for ideas for new Pokemon and moves that you can post in, or you can create a blog post about your own ideas if you'd like. :)

This may be the thread you'd be most interested in: http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f313/ideas-new-pokemon-12100/

Nice, thanks. Oh, and I forgot about blog posts!

I used to be on here then forgot about it and now I'm back- quick question, am I allowed to make a thread so me and my friend can RP in it? Sorry for being a newb. We like to do paragraph story posts.

Yeah there is a section on the RP section which is called Private RP's. So you and your friend can create one where both and only you two can post in it, being if your friend is a user.

Hello, I would like clarification about rule number 12. My question is that I understand that inter-site drama is prohibited, but are we allowed to reference those sites in a discussion? Some situations may require these references (such as a debate). Provided there is no intent to slander/dramatize but rather due to the sources' relevance to the thread are we allowed to reference these sites?

Yes. Intersite Drama is more like complaining about things people have done on other sites and bringing issues with them or the other site over here. You're allowed to mention other sites, just dont bring any drama or issues you have with them or any users there.

Just wondered, I'm allowed to put a link in my Signature to my Bulbapedia userpage aren't I?

Is it okay to bump an old thread?
I wanted to start a new thread in the video game forum but I've found that one already exists, but it's about a year old. Is it okay to bump it or no?

Yes, it should be as long as the post is contributing to the subject of the thread.

-Shocking content include (as well as porn) gore, scat, and shock pictures.

Does that include something like a TV-14 anime scene? Or is that too much? Like not gore as in exposed flesh or even a severed artery's worth of blood just like relatively big cuts, trauma, and small trails of blood streaming. Not planning on posting anything of the sort at the moment just curious.

I'm assuming it does (but I'd rather be sure first) but does the "no illegal Pokemon content" rule include offering hacked Pokemon for trade? Or is the "illegal Pokemon content" just like the ones listed below the rule?

Offering hacked Pokemon is allowed just make sure you say they're hacked.

Out of curiosity, would linking to or embedding entire episodes/shorts (from any show) be permitted if they're from an official source, say, the official BBC youtube channel?

Hi Bulbagarden! I'm a long-time follower of the Anime forum, but I finally signed up because I wanted to ask a question (and finally participate in some conversations!). If there's a thread about a new song, and people are wanting to just listen to it, is it okay to provide a link to a non-downloadable stream, like on Youtube or a fansite? Not a torrent site or anything. Specifically, I was hoping to help out in the 'New TR song in the making' thread. But I don't want to go against the Bulbagarden rules in case that's a big no-no. What do you think?

How long does it take to receive a response to the Contact Us form? I sent one in a week ago and I've gotten no response from any of the staff on my issue.

There is no specific time, it depends on how much discussion is needed regarding the issue. We will get back to you once a decision has been reached.

What are the rules on defining necroposting here? Is it fair game for anything that's either:
  • on the first page, or
  • within a certain period of time?
