This isn't completely unheard of, especially for older Staff. Not only do people change as they age (if you joined this place when you were, say, 16, you'll be at a very different stage in life five years down the line when entering adult life proper) but the franchise has undergone transformation, too. When the Bulbagarden team first set up the wiki, the franchise amounted to three generations of 2D core series games with a handful of spin-offs, and now the nature (and frankly, quality) of the games and culture surrounding them can feel a world apart. There's many older hands who have been quite open that modern titles don't quite do it for them anymore, but the friends they've made here keep them coming back, as well as the fact that much of the site doesn't really need specialist Pokémon knowledge to keep it functioning.

Goodness, I... have a lot. Mostly kid's animated cartoons because adult animated cartoons don't hold up as well

  • Alvin and the Chipmunks (the 80s one, the most recent one is okay, I guess? Not as bad as the CGI movies)
  • Darkwing Duck
  • Wonder Pets (this show holds up so well even YEARS after watching it)
  • Peep and the Big Wide World
  • Little Einsteins
  • Looney Tunes Show (I've seen this described as an adult animated show without the adult/inappropriate jokes and also not immature, and tbh that's a pretty apt description)
  • Steven Universe (I only recently started watching it but holy cannoli it's so good)

This one is a hard question for me to think about, because Pokémon is kind of a big part of my life. Not just in the "I have an entire shelf of Jigglypuff plush and another one for Quaxly plush" sense, but in the "Pokémon is literally how I interpret the world" sense. It's a special interest. From what I've heard, autistic people can lose interest in special interests, but it's usually the result of autistic burnout or losing the ability to engage in the interest. I don't think that I, personally, based on my own experience, that I could never really lose interest in Pokémon.

That being said, if I suddenly stopped having a special interest in Pokémon... I guess I would stay? I talk about non-Pokémon things here, and the community is nice enough that I wouldn't want to leave it.

We counting anime or is that a cop out :p

If so then Haikyuu, Blue Lock then Jujutsu Kaisen, in that order.

Excluding that then probably Futurama. Recently started watching Bob's Burgers and it's way more enjoyable than I would have guessed. There's also the ones you have from when I was a kid, Batman: TAS, Spongebob, Codename: KND, but I've not watched these in so many years. Your question has made me want to maybe delve back into some of my more childhood ones.

Truthfully i've lost a lot of interest in Pokemon, in my last question I answered I mentioned seeing the community brought me back, amongst other things (I personally really want The War Room back in its full glory). I think i'll always have a soft spot for Pokemon and somewhere deep down I want a resurgence both for the series but moreso for me personally. I still have an itch to return to it to competitively breed or shiny hunt, but i'm not a fan on the direction the games have gone. I have hope that my love for it returns at some point though. I feel like since coming back to the forum I have cared a bit more about the series in general, so that's a positive thing!

Thankyou for the questions :)

Taking this as Western-style serialised shows and discounting the vast ocean of anime... it's The Simpsons. It was a fun cartoon when I was younger, but it's aged like the finest wine to the point where I think the best episodes can easily be counted among the best comedy scripts of all time, if not the greatest American cultural products of all time. Everything from that particular era is so witty, cynical and damned clever; Steamed Hams exploded in recent years because the original scene is such a brilliant absurdist send-up of traditional sitcom constructs.

It's just.... so good.

If we're excluding Pokeani from this question... then Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Nichijou, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, or Keroro Gunsou.

But if we're talking "no anime allowed"? Spongebob. Like, no contest on that one. There are so many timeless jokes just within the first three seasons and the original movie that I still bring up and quote way too often. (Though Invader Zim was and still is one of my favorites.)

The short answer is, yeah I probably would. The slightly longer answer is, my interest in every one of the many different aspects of the franchise waxes and wanes with time, and I've even felt pretty tepid about the series as a whole during certain past generations — but like Torchic, I can't really imagine becoming completely and utterly disinterested with it at any point.

So, if for some reason Pokémon simply ceased to exist tomorrow, I'd likely still be hanging around these forums; just because I like the environment and I like the people that I know here.

Other than Pokémon, I have to go with RWBY. It just keeps getting better in animation quality and weird plot twist ways.

Absolutely yes. I do not have as much interest as I used to have for gens 5-7, or a Switch at all, but still play GO and Sleep and read up on the major news.

But the main reason I sticked around for are Outside The Box and The War Room after all, these kept me hooked to the community.

I think I would! I might leave the Multimedia team if the interest drop was huge since for my multimedia streams I do have to draw Pokemon things, but I do love these forums and even if I stopped streaming I'd probably stick around and hang out with the folks in VC there. The main sections I personally tend to hang around in are F&G, The War Room, and the Art Gallery, and those are sections I think I would definitely maintain attachment to even if I lost interest in the franchise.

I'm gonna take the same approach as some others and exclude anime, so for that: Some of the first ones that jump to mind for me are The Owl House and Avatar the Last Airbender. ATLA's a pretty big part of my childhood and one I'll always have a ton of nostalgia for; I rewatch it every so often too and as of the last time I still feel it aged quite well overall. The Owl House ofc doesn't hold the same nostalgia for me since it's much much newer, but I love the characters and story and worldbuilding. I also rewatched Gravity Falls somewhat recently and I've gained a lot more appreciation for it than I had when it first came out.

I’m not currently actively playing Pokémon Scarlet and being excited about it and Pokémon every day though I look at Bulbagarden every day. There’s so much more to Bulbagarden than just Pokémon. In short, my answer would be yes

I don't really watch a lot of animated shows, or TV in general. Avatar the Last Airbender maybe??

I mean, my interest in Pokemon is exponentially less than it was back when I first joined this site, and I'm still here. So I guess that says something.

Mine is clearly Torchic. My first Pokemon ever and part of the reason I have my username here.
Nostalgia purposes? Nice! I also really like my first Pokemon (Litten), but it isn't fav. Lucero gets that ttitle. What about region? Hoenn, I'm guessing.

Altaria! ...also my namesake's favorite. That part might actually be connected to her LOL. I also like Joltik, courtesy of a certain Subway Master I know... and really just any fluffy/bird Pokémon?
Yea, I remember that. On your top 10 there was, like, 7-8 Altaria, right? Lol!

What piece of media are you most looking forward to currently?
I am pumped for TMNT Mutant Mayhem. The visuals look magnificent and the writing seems really good. I'm psyched.
I'm also very excited for the final Sonic Frontiers update. That was the best Sonic game in a decade and I'm super excited about the prospect of adding more story plus more playable characters.
What makes you loyal to this community?
Honestly, it's the people. Bulbagarden's full of a bunch of great people, both on and off staff, and they're what really make me love it here. The entire reason I applied for staff in the first place was to give back and support the community I fell in love with. That's what keeps me here.

Making the same western animation assumption the others have, I'm gonna go with Ducktales, woo-oo. A charmingly written show with a lot of really fun stories and characters to explore. Also I love Mrs. Beakley. Wonderful character.
