i wanted to join this one because I thought it looked simpler, and since my only previous experience with mafia was when me and my friends played a In person non electronic version of among us(that's actually pretty much what we called it), I thought simple but will take a while would be better. but, what do you think I should do?

This is technically not exactly mafia unlike the other one hence the simplicity, it may also have more players (meaning more active thread) when it fills up. Just wanted you to know which game has maximum chances of starting sooner, you do what you wish of course

in the mood to drop more details about the game, as i was planning to a bit before the start of the game, but right now feels inopportune

THIS is how night visits work:

every night, i expect everyone to submit their night action at some point. this night action is "stay in" or "visit another player's room" (you have to tell me which player you want to visit, though). if you stay in your room, you stay in your room, obviously. if you visit another player, then you show up to their room, but here's the catch: if they are not home (visiting another player's dorm), then you have to return home to your room. you will not be told if your stay was successful or not until the next morning.
the mastermind can only kill students who are alone in their room. thus, it is in the students' best interest to room at night. but there are TWO MAJOR CATCHES:

• you are not allowed to explicitly discuss in this thread who you are planning on rooming with. you can use softs or whatever but absolutely no going "btw zexy, i'm going to come over tonight." i'll modkill you if i have to. seriously, just do not talk about it. because it is impossible for anyone to create an alibi in this game, you have to use your wits to win. that is the purpose of the game, it isn't some kind of claim fest.
• "dude what do you mean no alibi." here's the thing. what night visits do is offer you protection against being killed by the mastermind. they do NOT prove that you are not the mastermind, because the mastermind can night visit too. every night, the mastermind will be submitting to me their kill alongside whether they want to stay at home or visit someone. if they end up rooming with someone some way or another, there will be NOTHING on the end of the other person alluding to or suggesting that the other person is the mastermind at all, and the mastermind doesn't even have to leave the room to perform a kill. in other words, the mastermind blends into the student body completely. you cannot afford to assume someone is a student just because you roomed with them. remember, this is a game about reads and wits.

after a successful night stay with anyone, you unlock their Free Time Event, which is basically just a neighbor chat. here you can discuss anything game related aside from your nighttime actions, although you can soft there too.
also no quoting anything i tell you in role pm or anything said in a FTE. paraphrasing, whatever. no quoting. big no-no. don't. don't do that. please.

also, if you delay your night action, regardless of who you are, it defaults to "stay in" and you get a warning. three strikes and you're out unless we're in the endgame and it doesn't really matter.
...but please don't delay your night action anyway.

i will not be participating as a player, simply as the one running the show. thus i have no role as a student or a mastermind... simply a mascot.

After signups close, you are free to finalise your setup for the exact amount of players you have, run it through your MoD if you are unsure about something, then rand and distribute role PMs. The game is considered started once at least one role PM is sent.

TWR is not a legal entity to care THAT much about the exactness of the 20 days

OP says Septmeber 15th, add 20 (35), subtract 30 (# of days Septmeber has), end result is 5. So basically any signup with a timestamp of October 5th is valid, October 6th is not. This is how I would do it.
