GO Can I still claim 10k km reward?

Hey everyone,
I still have the 10k km research in my list of research, but have done the trick that I read about with trading gifts with someone that far away and then opening the eggs from gifts to complete it. Being on the east coast of US and opening an egg from South Korea is over the 10k km, but no research completion. Have opened multiple from Japan as well and no go on completion. Missing something?

That quest is about trading a Pokemon from at least 10.000km away. If you got an egg from one of those gifts you can hatch it then trade it from a pokemon locally caught. That would finish the quest.
The Pokémon that hatches from those gifts will have it's location caught at equal to the location of the Pokéstop that gave the gift you received.
