Change a Trainer's team

Well, in the case of Lance and Glacia it was due to having limited Pokémon available. Koga had no excuse for not having a varied team, specially with the amount of Poison Pokémon in Kanto.

3- The ones who uses Pokémon who are not the type of the gym but can use moves of that type (DP Volkner and Flint,Lance, RB Sabrina)

Same for 3 too. In fact that's pretty much the reason any type specialist's team DOESN'T fall into 1. Some of the older games like RBY, RSE, and DP really had some major variety issues and there just weren't enough Pokemon to put together a team of 4 or 5 different families of the same type. Hell, some species you couldn't even find 4 or 5 Pokemon even with the entire National Dex until 4th or 5th gen.

To me, Raihan's gym team needs some updates. He is a Dragon-type gym leader and yet half of his team (Sandaconda and Gigalith) are non-dragons. I get that they're there to set up the sandstorm, but they sort of ruin his type gimmick. I'd swap them out for a Garchomp with Sandstorm and either Dracozolt or Dracovish with their HA, Sand Rush. Not only would this make his team all dragons, it would give him some Pokemon that have abilities that benefit from sand.

My headcanon is that he always used a team based around changing the weather and that was what got him so far when we was a Challenger, but when he became the Gym Leader of Hammerlocke he had to make some modifications to his original team to turn it more or less into a Dragon-type team.

Point taken. So it was also like that thanks to limitations, although of a different kind.

I think we can still come up with some workarounds.

Brock - Geodude, Onix
Misty - Psyduck, Starmie
Lt. Surge - Voltorb, Magnemite, Raichu
Erika - Victreebel, Tangela, Vileplume
Koga - Arbok Tentacruel, Muk, Weezing, Venomoth
Sabrina - Hypno, Mr. Mime, Exeggutor, Alakazam
Blaine - Magmar, Flareon, Rapidash, Arcanine
Giovanni - Sandslash, Dugtrio, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Rhydon

Lorelei - Dewgong, Cloyster, Slowbro, Jynx, Lapras
Bruno - Golem (as suggested by @Daren) or Poliwrath, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Primeape, Machamp
Agatha - Arbok, Golbat, Ninetales (as suggested elsewhere by @Silktree), Gengar, Gengar
Lance - Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Dragonair, Dragonair, Dragonite

Gen 1 fixed? More diversity with minimal overlap/repetition.

Idk why, but I've always wanted to see Brock with an Aerodactyl.

And I can add a bit more, replace Blaine's Flareon with a Charizard maybe.

Would it be too heretical to suggest replacing Glacia entirely? There are four other unused type specialties in Hoenn - Bug, Grass, Poison, and Ground, all of which have significantly more candidates in the Hoenn Dex than Ice.

Bug: Ninjask, Armaldo, Pinsir, Heracross, Masquerain (or possibly even Flygon if we want more oomph, since it's based on a bug)
Grass: Breloom, Roselia, Cradily, Bellossom or Vileplume, Tropius
Poison: Crobat, Weezing, Swalot, Muk, Seviper (my least-favorite of these suggestions and arguably a bit too Gen 1/2-ish overall)
Ground: Sandslash, Camerupt or Donphan, Flygon, Whiscash, Claydol

Personally I'd go for the Grass one since Hoenn is supposed to be so verdant and nature-y, and since Sinnoh comes along next gen with Bug- and Ground-type Elite Four. Grass was also pretty underrepresented in the Leagues until recently, with only two proper Gym Leaders (and Cilan, but he hardly counts I think) and no Elite Four specializing in the type as of Gen 5. Since then, it has gotten two more Gym Leaders and a Trial Captain.

The proposed Hoenn Grass E4 could also bump their Roselia up to a Roserade in the remakes.

I considered giving Blaine a Charizard (and Erika an Ivysaur), but figured for authenticity's sake I'd retain Gen 1's implication that the Starter Pokémon are pretty rare species. But sure, if we want to break that notion, then there's definitely a few more options.

Also for what it's worth, Brock mains an Aerodactyl in post-game LGPE

Lance is the one that needs Charizard. Tentacruel would be cooler for Koga than Arbok.

Literally just remembered Tentacruel existed as soon as your post appeared. And it fits the setting too with Fuchsia being on the coast.

I don't think they were supposed to be that rare, considering that generic trainers carry starters in the games, like that Camper in Route 6 that has a Squirtle, or that trainer that had a Bulbasaur and an Ivysaur in Erika's Gym.

Hm. Guess that slipped through the cracks in me head. I could have sworn that NPCs didn't use Starters until Gold & Silver.

When I first played SwSh (especially after seeing the pitfall traps Gym puzzle) I thought for sure Melony & Gordie would have Abomasnow & Gigalith respectively, and it'd basically be a Hail team or a Sandstorm team depending on your version.

But of course Raihan had to be the guy who sets up weather combos...

A lot of teams in general. GameFreak always tends to fall back on the same Pokémon for a lot of teams which makes it kind of boring. Like, if you see a Water-type Gym leader, you can guess that 9 times out of 10 they will have a Gyarados for example.

Very much this. Was it as hilarious to anyone else as it was to me when the royal duo from the postgame quest in SS was like "Oh I'm going to come back with WAY better Pokemon, these are just the ones I keep around while out and about", and then they reinforce that before the battle with something like "This time I've brought much stronger Pokemon to trounce you with", only to roll out the Exact Same Team, plus maybe a couple of levels tops?

For me I'd change it to have every Pokemon Gym and your rival have 6 Pokemon. Not random trainers, or the fights against folks in the gym, but in my eyes, there is no excuse for your rival, who challenges you to catch a million Pokemon before heading to the 2nd city (or something to that effect) to not have 6 Pokemon to field in battle. I get that they've tied the gym leaders not using 6 Pokemon into a lore thing, but if they're a gym leader, they should have 6 Pokemon. I'm just saying. I would also love to see their Pokemon have a cohesive theme behind them. A 6 Pokemon Trick Room team for a Psychic gym leader? Yes, please! A Fire gym leader who sets Sunny Day, and has Pokemon with Solar Beam to take advantage of it? I'd love it!

As long as you have those 3 things: Full teams for supposedly strong individuals; cohesive, synergistic team builds; and tons of variety in the Pokemon used; I'd be extraordinarily happy. I also think a lot of folks would appreciate not being able to as easily stomp through gyms with 1 Pokemon using the same move over and over, and having to figure out the correct angle from which to approach that specific gym and the challenge it provides. I could be wrong of course.

Many if the Galar Gym Leaders' aces just don't fit the leader's appearance or interests, so I would change them. Of course, the "Everyone but Milo have to use Pokemon who can Gigantamax" rule is the cause of that, so not only I will suggest new aces but also new Gigantamax forms:

Nessa: Barraskewda. Dreadnaw is cool but looks very tough and slow and not very "sporty", a sightly underleveled Barraskweda would work as it looks sporty like Nessa. It still looks rough, but there aren't many options available. Inteleon looks a bit sporty but underlevelling it by 12 levels would be too much. Its Gigantamax would be a giant pirate ship surrounded by Cramorant, its predator became an ally.

Bea: Grapploct. Its Gigantamax would be a giant squid with lots of tentacles with a fighting ring on its head. (I have no problems with Machamp though)

Allister: Cursola. Its Gigantamax would be a giant dead coral structure with tombstones engraved. (I have no problems with Gengar though)

Opal: Galarian Rapidash. She needs something related to fairy tales, but Grimmsnarl and Hatterene are already taken. However, she could ride her Rapidash because of her age like Ramos used Gogoat and like royalty which are usually seen riding horses. Its Gigantamax would be an alicorn surrounded by pink mist.

Melony: Eiscue or Galarian Darmanitan. I love Lapras but it doesn't fit her, and an hypothetical Gigantamax Frosmoth would look similar to Gigantamax Butterfree. Gigantamax Eiscue would have most of its body covered in thin ice so it looks like an iceberg, and Darmanitan would be a giant snowman perhaps similar to Gigantamax Cinderace in that the base form doesn't grow much but its auxiliary parts do.

Raihan: Dragapult. Many sports are based on throwing something from afar which is why Dragapult does, and it's thin and speedy like Raihan. Its Gigantamax would be some kind of mecha which can throw Dreepy from its hands, chest and head. I don't know how it would fit its climatic team, but let's be honest, why on Earth did they choose a Dragon trainer for that role over a Grass, Fire, Water, Normal, Rock, Ground or Steel one?

Will should have used a Slowking instead of Slowbro.
Specially considering there's only one non-facility trainer with one, even though it was one of the first Pokémon revealed, appeared in the Spaceworld demo, had a noticeable role in the second movie and survived the Spaceworld snap with almost no changes (I think the only change was better coloring).

Then again, Donphan and Ampharos also suffered similar fates, so I guess they didn't think about promoting them that much.
