Character Discussion Thread

Re: Black & White 2 Character Discussion Thread

i pretty like all of the new characters with exception of the male PC! They should make him better, but oK.
the new prof is pretty interesting, and we never had a new prof introduced.

The Rival is sparky and something truly different.

Interested if Bianca will appear!? and who is the Teacher school leader.

Re: Black & White 2 Character Discussion Thread

I predict that Homika will be the first Gym Leader and since "her gym is actually a rock stage!" I believe that her two band mates will be her only gym trainers.

Given the Koffing designs on her stage she will probably use Koffing, each of the band members will have a Koffing, or the band's name/theme relates to Koffing. I really hope that Koffing will not be her signature Pokemon since Weezing was Koga's signature as a Kanto Gym Leader.

Repeating the line, "her gym is actually a rock stage!", in my head a couple of times gave me the crazy idea that her gym may actually be a travelling gym.

So we get to name our rival again?

Thank god, Cheren was just a stupid name.

Re: Professor Akuroma

Idea! Akuroma made an item to fuse Kyurem with Reshiram/Zekrom and then used that Pokemon to freeze over Unova!

Re: Professor Akuroma

Question! Is Achroma a "professor" like everyone seems to say (in the traditional sense that we know)? Or is he just another researcher like Fennel or? I don't think it was shown or said that he gives the players their starter Pokémon.

Re: Revealed Gym Leaders Thread: Nay or Yay?

I love the Poison gym leader, and I love that we are finally getting a new Poison type gym. The type is so under appreciated and it makes me glad they are adding it in. The gym leader herself is actually interesting to me, looking forward to seeing her personality in game. As for the water guy. Meh, I'm tired of water gyms, there needs to be some new, rarely used typings with gyms in my opinion.

As of right now, he isn't the professor. (I assume that is right)

Re: Professor Akuroma

I hope he isn't involved in Team Plasma at all... I really hope that failure of an organization is completely gone as the leadership should be in prison. I'm actually hoping they do something completely different and not have an evil organization and maybe have this Akuroma guy acting alone, maybe doing a fake out with him constantly helping you, but you are unknowingly doing his dirty work or something. I dunno, something that doesn't involve Team Plasma as an organization in game and I will be happy.

Re: Professor Akuroma

He can't be the professor who gives you your starter. The screen shot of him in Castelia City (on the official site) shows him introducing himself as a scientist called Akuroma.

If I may ask, what is it about Team Plasma that you dislike so much? inb4 "everything"

Everything. No seriously, I just wasn't into the whole cult vibe they gave me. After Team Galactic in Gen IV, I thought Team Plasma felt kinda weak in their intentions and I couldn't really get behind them as an evil organization with their ultimate goal not really being all that evil. Team Galactic wanted to, more or less, destroy the world, Team Plasma wanted to end pokemon suffering by separating pokemon and humans, decent enough intentions, "evil" execution.

Re: Professor Akuroma

To be fair, Team Galactic was a cult...more so than Team Plasma. At least with Team Plasma their goal was realistic, if not extreme, and while there were definitely the criminals who used Team Plasma's goals to their own end (Ghetsis, the grunts who beat up Munna), I felt that a lot of them believed in the cause and actually had a plan in mind to accomplish it.

Team Galactic, on the other hand, was pretty much composed of loners, freaks, and psychopaths who pretty much joined Team Galactic to cause trouble and belong to a group and had no idea what they were doing, because I don't think anyone would expect Cyrus' plan to open a dimensional portal and remake the world in his image. I liked Team Galactic a bit better, though, because I thought the cult angle was neat and the TG Grunts made me laugh because they were literally all incompetent fools who ran around doing stuff without any goal.

Oh, and the Admins actually fought you unlike the Shadow Triad and Seven Sages. That still upsets me. :(

Re: Professor Akuroma

Team plasma's gone Ghetsis will live on but team plasma is gone. I could see Ghetsis and this guy working together but both looking anxiously for the chance to double cross each other. Or this guy could be working for someone who has that relationship with Ghetsis. If the company itself is asking if he is evil he probably is unless it is like snape or something

Re: Revealed Gym Leaders Thread: Nay or Yay?

I don't like Shizui. I am baised toward Water specialists who are dress for walking rather than swimming. His pants look weird I never seen someone wear swim pants do those even exist. He is too buff for my taste but I'm straight so I guess they introduced him for a fair is fair thing when it comes to eyecandy but why not have a lance Volkner like guy for eye candy. And it is a kids game so why even have eye candy.

The chick I guess she's neat rock goes with poison so I see want they are doing

Re: Revealed Gym Leaders Thread: Nay or Yay?

I like them all...

I actually like how they're handling the third installment and trying to make it not look like a copy and paste game.

Re: Professor Akuroma

I don't know why people keep talking about "Team Plasma's intentions" as if that even mattered in the end (or at all during the game). They were simply being manipulated in order to put a single man on top of the world. Yeah, the focus on that one aspect make them seem bad in comparison, but when you take it as a whole, it works so much better. If Ghetsis had assembled Team Plasma, with its members knowing that they're going to take over the world, that basically makes the entire team a one-dimensional character. The liberation of Pokemon wasn't because Ghetsis cared, he simply used people who had those views to help him rid the region of potential opponents to his cause by essentially disarming the population. Not only that, but he is making them accept this by making N look like some sort of messiah and beating the Champion.

So no, Ghetsis didn't just manipulate an entire team, he was going to forcibly release all the Pokemon of all the trainers in the region and have them accept it because of N being seen as some sort of savior chosen by what essentially amounts to one of the gods of Unova myth, and in the end, manipulate an entire region. There's probably a reason why a Plasma scientist was even developing Genesect in the first place--a weapon for Ghetsis to control.

That's much more interesting than the proposed "Let's have an entire team intent on taking over the world!" as if it hadn't been done a billion times already.

Re: Professor Akuroma

Well in any case, I actually find Plasma more realistic considering the setting. There were members who truly believed in the cause and what they were doing was right or justified, and there were members who were corrupt. The whole structure of the team and the themes behind it were well put together to me.

They as an organization should definitely return, but obviously not as they were before. If the scientist Akuroma is a part of Team Plasma, then his views will be very interesting. Plasma were probably one of the few, if not the only team where I actually cared about hearing the antagonist's side on issues without immediately judging them.

Re: Revealed Gym Leaders Thread: Nay or Yay?

Snakes and bats have had associations with musicians but I'm pretty sure we can think of other Poison-types more fitting for a rocker. Foongus Amoonguss?

Edit: Roses? I know there's a connection between the Scolipede line and rockers but I'm having trouble discovering what it is.

Re: Revealed Gym Leaders Thread: Nay or Yay?

So why is the water type Gym Leader's upper body black but lower body white? Fail Tan? Mixed Race taken to a whole new level?

Considering that her choice of type may be a reference to Poison the Band (I think Japan is familiar with them), Roselia would be quite fitting...
