I named my Seaking "Shortlived". Why? Because, they go upstream to lay eggs. Salmons go upstream to lay eggs and die when their job is done. I figure it's the same for Seaking.

Tyranitar= OMGzilla
Magnezone= Foo Fighter (it being a term coined by american pilots in WW2 for unidentified flying objects)
Swampert= Axeman (mudkip based on axolotls)
Aerodactyl= Polly (I was listening to Nirvana Unplugged while building the team, seemed suitable)
Gliscor= DarkNight (The Johto episode where there's a Gligar based Batman...)

Maybe not clever enough, but these are some of my nicknames(m=male, f=female):
-Kadabra(m): Kelfa...this one was random.
-Absol(f): Enigma.
-Misdreavus(f): Misserie(Miss+Misery+Marie).
-Jynx(f): Cassiopeia, but I was going to name her Freezilia.
-Sandshrew(f): Elisand(Elisa+sand :dumb
-Drowzee(f): Dreamber(Dream+amber).
-Dratini(f): Coraline.
-Honchkrom(m): Valerius.
-Venomoth(f): Poison...not really original.
-Tentacruel(f): Górgona.

Those are just some of them.

lol Until now I didn't realized most of my pokemon were female.

Some pretty hilarious nicknames on my Diamond team that I made up:

Marill - Cheese (I was bored )
Biberal - Dam it (MOST. HILARIOUS. NAME. EVAH!!!!)
Staravia - Free Bird (Get the joke?)
Quagsire - Smilebob (The simle part is because Quagsire always smiles, and the bob part is because it's a water Pokémon)

Clefable - Pixie (Pixie is a description for her fairy-ness, and this is also her Japanese name, and even her cry vaguely sounds like "Pixie" too)
Tangrowth - Luigi (This one I only see, but it is decent since Tangrowth's normal colour is blue and shiny colour is green, colours of Luigi, but the spaghetti-like look on him/her makes some chuckle at its mention)

I only give nicknames to my team pokemon, shinies and very special ones.

Right now, the ones with nicknames are:

Sensei the Infernape. Because he was my first pokemon in ages, and he was like a teacher to all the others.

X-Ray the luxray. Quite obvious...
Rosie the Roserade. Also Obvious.
Mencer the Salamence.
Rockzila the Tyranytar.
Atzelerate the Floatzel (Also my first shiny ever). Combination of Floatzel and accelerate.
Wattsquash the shiny Electivire. Watt and Sasquash
FalcnPunch the Shiny Staraptor.
Digital the Porygon-Z

If I hadn't forgotten all my Kana by the time I got my Japanese Pearl 4 years ago, I'd have named my Torterra "Terradactyl," or something. It'd probably be possible considering that as faulty as Katakana is, it still takes up less space than Roman letters, but whatever.

My nicknames are usually not that clever (except maybe Darklight the Darkrai, if that qualifies), but my Blastoise is named "Machoman." Hur hur, random.
