Clever Pokémon Nicknames

I name all my Pokemon, usually after what music artist or song I'm listening to at the time. But I did just recently catch a male Girafarig which I named StudMuffin because I plan on breeding the heck out of him ^_^

I nickname all my Pokemon. These are just a few of them:

Charlemane/Charizard (M) - My first Pokemon ever, I wanted him to have a sort of epic name.
Gilda/Giratina - Named for the gold in Giratina's design.
Dianna/Dialga - Variations of this name mean "divine".
Emperor/Empoleon (M) - Named for obvious reasons...
Angel/Articuno - My little snow angel. ^^
Zelda/Zapdos - Cause it sounded cool...
Valentine/Venusaur (M)
Marabelle/Milotic (F) - The name literally means "beautiful Mara".

There are quite a few others, too...

I only have a few.

I named my Charizard "Valoo" from Zelda: The Wind Waker
(I considered Volvagaia from OoT, but Valoo looks more like Charizard)

I also am training an Espeon named "Majora."
(Espeon's head looks a little like Majora's Mask)

Yeah, I'm a Zelda fan. So what? Wanna fight about? :D

No, I don't; several of my Pokemon have LOZ nicknames.

Examples:

Midna/Weavile (F)-Because Midna looks like a Weavile. She does!
Navi/Phione - Because it's blue and looks like a fairy.
Epona/Rapidash (F)- Don't think I need to post my reason for this...
Rupee/Skorupi (M)- I saw "Rupi" in its name and...
Gohdan/Bronzong - named after the Tower of the GOds boss from Wind Waker...the faces look similar.
Twilimir/Bronzor - was going to be nicknamed "Twilight Mirror", but it was too long.
Power/Mesprit - named because it represents the Triforce of Power (to me, at least)
Wisdom/Uxie - named because it represents the Triforce of Wisdom
Courage/Azelf - named because it represents the Triforce of Courage (It is the God of Valor, and Valor=Courage)
Zelda/Ralts (F)- Because I'll evolve her into Gardevoir, who is sort of a "royal-like" Pokemon.
Fyrus/Heatran (Shiny M) -Because the fire boss in TP was awesome.
Link/Mightyena (M) -Because Link can turn into a wolf.

Rosakai, you roxxorz. :D

I'm working on bringing up a Salamence named Argoroc, after the boss of the Wind Temple in TP (one of my favourite boss fights in any Zelda game).

I've tried to learn a little Japanese, and these are the names I came up with for my Eeveelutions. (I hope they're accurate)

Vaporeon = "Unabara", ocean
Jolteon = "Shuurai", lightning strike
Flareon = "Akibi", blazing fire
Espeon = "Kokoro", mind/soul
Umbreon = "Kage", shadow
Leafeon = "Shinrin", forest
Glaceon = "Hyousetsu", ice/snow

i thought "kokoro" meant heart?
it probably doesn't ><;;
i tend to name pokemon with an "o" at the end.

eg/ Crobat: Bato
Eevee: Evo (also can be E X T E N D E D to "evolution" or evolutionary"

or after some of my friends :D

I might have that name wrong, but I couldn't find anything better. Either way I'm not changing it. B)

Anyone know if "Hayate" means anything in Japanese? I named my Absol that because I heard it meant hurricane, but I can't find anything to corroborate that. Plus I'm pretty sure they're called typhoons. >_>

Hmm most of my nicknames are simple lol:

Staraptor: Stella, latin for star.
Luxray: Sparxia, she's gold and knows spark.
Infernape: Charlie, char or fire.
Torterra: Twister, idk his cry was funny when a turtwig.
Gastrodon: Sandra, pink and brown and sandy colored.
Rapidash: Phantom, has gray fire and looks ghostly.
Skarmory: Metallix, steel or metal pokemon.
Manetric: Elektra, black colored and electric.
Starmie: Selena, selene is a moon goddess and goes with stars.
Garchomp: Saber, sharp wings/claws.
Corsola: Crystal, she's blue colored.
Blastoise/Charizard/Venusaur: Blue/Red/Green, lol you know why..

your probably right, seeing as though that's Spencer's Japanese name and most things Fiorian deal with weather.

yeah, "hayate" means hurricane, like Black Hayate from FullMetal Alchemist

(Yay, an FMA fan!) That's where I got the name, but I couldn't find it in the dictionary (EDIT: Or I might just have a crappy dictionary <_<). But I always thought that was way too awesome a name for a dog that doesn't really do anything, so I gave it to my critical-hit machine Absol. B)

This place is a nice dictionary. (Just make sure to check the box next to the keyword search if the keyword is romanized Japanese.)

And "kokoro" means "heart/mind/spirit," not "heart, the blood-pumping organ" (which is "shinzou").
