The cleanup of Social Groups will continue. We are planning to delete Social Groups in the following order.
1. Inactive or Rulebreaking Groups.
2. Duplicate Groups.
3. Groups of which discussions are best suited for a forum section.
4. Locked Groups.
Groups that had no new posts before the year 2012 will be regarded Inactive.
Groups that have had many threads and members will be regarded as exceptions and not be deleted.
In case of duplicate Groups, we will keep the Group with the recent activity. The owner and the members of the deleted duplicate Group will be given a notice, which will include a reminder regarding the other Group.
As for the third condition, an example would be Groups solely devoted for pairing fictional characters, as Shipper’s Paradise is meant for such discussions and encourages threads discussing a particular Ship.
While we might request a Group’s owner to move their discussions to a subforum, we are expected to allow exceptions. For example, Fan Clubs for certain TV Shows that has high activity will be allowed to stay, given that they have no other issues.
Locked refers to Groups that have their contents not revealed to the public. To clarify, we are still allowing Moderated or Invite Only Groups.
Owner of Locked Groups must change the their Groups settings so that the discussion can be seen in public. Locked Groups that remain Locked will be deleted.
We may allow a locked group to remain under circumstances that the Group serves the policy of Bulbagarden and really needs to be on limited access. (Such as a Group used in preparation for a contest or judging entries.)
The cleanup will begin sometime within 24 hours. We will keep you informed of the progress in this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here.
