I remember now. The second Inuyasha Movie! I think that was it.

Heavily based on Kaguya-kime from The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter, Princess Kaguya.

So if Inuyasha had anyone related to Kaguya in the movie... then it was just a matter of time that the Impossible Requests become mentioned.

Yes, Kaguya was the villain in the second movie, and Tale of the Bamboo-cutter was mentioned as well.

...but I thought InuYasha was never finished...

The Final Act picks up where the previous series left off. It's only 26 episodes long.

yep, 26 episodes based on 21 volumes of manga. So if the first Inuyasha was too slow, this one will go by really quickly.
