Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

That's what CoroCoro implied four months ago, but so much has changed since then. If it happens, expect the evolution method to be cumbersome enough so that the Zoroark event isn't rendered pointless.

That could very well happen and is what everyone should be focused on. But why isn't anyone worried about Celebi's elusiveness? Why don't we need a Wi-Fi event for that Pokémon? It would certainly take care of two birds with one stone.

Good, I like my evolutions ridiculously cumbersome. But this is coming from the person that also enjoys GF making pokémon that are just slight variations on other 'mons [here's to you, hinidaruma].

Also, I doubt they'll make this evolution method specific to that one Zorua, I think they'll apply it to all Zorua (which could make it impossible to obtain more than one zoroark in this way, justifying the Zoroark event).

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

We've had a Wi-Fi event for Mew, (well the Japanese have, I don't think it's come to English HG/SS yet, has it?), Shaymin, Darkrai and the PCP. Celebi should really get one in B&W, allowing us to get Zorua aswell.
Mew and Jirachi have sadly yet to be distributed (via Wi-Fi) outside Japan, but there is still time. I'm more worried about the fact that the Azure Flute hasn't been distributed in Japan in all this time, and there are only three months left until the end of Generation IV (although that doesn't necessarily mean the end of Generation IV events, as evidenced by the late 2006 distribution of the Eon Ticket and Mysteryticket items).

How would making several Zoroa able to evolve justify the Zoroark event?

It wouldn't, but making the evolution impossible/very difficult to be performed more than once on each gamepak (such as through a consumable item) would justify a free zoroark.

Also, is it just me or does anyone else suspect that the cloud in the top right corner of the CoroCoro Isshu map is purposely obscuring some important area?

Because a person who is now known as Legendary Master traded me one that activates the event :p Otherwise I would be freaking out.

Probably, I think they've done it in most of the previous regions maps upon release. My guesses are the Elite 4. (If they are in the game, but who knows...)

Then he traded you a hacked Celebi; the movie premiere is still a month away. I wouldn't brag about that if I were you.

Wouldn't this technically mean little Z is male only? Since it's only available through the event, and that one is male? (I know the game coding could say otherwise, but other than hacking, male only)

I know it's hacked, and I really don't care. I was just saying why I wasn't freaking out about the Celebi.

The genders might not be preset, but I suspect that they are based on Spiky-ear's Pichu precedent (it was female in both the movie and the games).

For the record, you don't need other people for hacking.

To be honest, I'm not surprised that the Z's are event only. What surprises me is that Celebi has 2 roles, and its second role is to unlock Zorua. Why have it in, when the evolution is in, and could simple be bred, if indeed not a legend, or a legend in the sense that Manaphy is?

I didn't include big Z because if little Z can still evo, then it would be a male big Z, therefore both genders possible.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Or perhaps male Zoroark is completely different, in the sense that the female does look female, and Zorua evolving into it does not make much sense, aesthetics wise at least. Yes, I'm suggesting a split evo if it wasn't clear.

I believe you know the answer to that: Zoroark can't be bred.

I'm disappointed. How would a split evolution explain the Zoroark event not rendering the Zoroa one pointless?

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

You see, the in-game Zorua is based of the movie Zorua. Meaning it is the son of the obtainable female Zoroark.

Of course, this means if you want a purebred Zorua...

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

This is really ify. I'm assuming celebi is the only way to get zorua/zoroark. So since it evolves I'm assuming its not legendary. HOWEVER, there has never been a NON-Legendary pokemon you can only obtain through an event. Which creates the grey area. Could this pokemon be the first evolving legendary?

IMO I don't think its legendary, just SPECIAL. But this all remains to be seen.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I was expecting you to be the first to suggest 'Pudgeon'. Lettin' me down here, V! :p

And you know, I hope it's evolution is based on the bleeding heart dove. You can't have a bloodied pigeon pokemon and not name it something groan-worthy like 'Bludgeon'.

That was the original pun I was going for... And then I realized that the real spelling of "pigeon" has no 'D' in it.

It was a big bummer.

For getting Zorua, I was hoping that they would do what they did in D/P/Pt with Riley giving you a Riolu egg. Oh well...:-/ It really is suprising though, usually it's Legendaries that get the special event treatment.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I see one of three things happening;
1) We misread and something like an egg will be given to us in-game
2) Celebi will be a wi-fi giveaway
3) The Z's are exclusives for now and will be available in the third installment.

Gamefreak wouldn't promote themselves by saying "Hey! Here's the first pokemon of the new generation! Look at it! Haha you can't have it!" That makes very little sense. There will be some pissed off fans if they don't make it available to the entirety of the pokemon fan base.

I'm expecting a Celebi giveaway to come along shortly after the new movie's released personally.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I was thinking the same thing. Why make the pokemon that started gen V event only? the 3rd one is most likely though. the US (or anywhere else outside of Japan) will probably never get a celebi event.

You basically answered your question with itself really. To make it special.

Anyway, what's with this "the US (or anywhere else outside of Japan) will probably never get a celebi event" crap? There's a reason that the rest of the world didn't get a Celebi event during Generation II, and that was because only the Japanese games supported the mobile phone system. Every DS has the capacity for wifi, so that isn't a problem. There isn't a rule which states that Celebi is Japan exclusive, and no real reason to believe that this particular one will be. If I recall, this is the only DS Celebi event.

Besides, history has already proven that point wrong.
