Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

This is really ify. I'm assuming celebi is the only way to get zorua/zoroark. So since it evolves I'm assuming its not legendary. HOWEVER, there has never been a NON-Legendary pokemon you can only obtain through an event. Which creates the grey area. Could this pokemon be the first evolving legendary?

IMO I don't think its legendary, just SPECIAL. But this all remains to be seen.
Evolving legends would be hilariously, as its basically a forme but permanent. Would love to see things like Lugia, Groudon, and Giratina evolve, no doubt bout that.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Also, could somebody give me a link or picture that says zoroark can't breed?
They're not going to make a public announcement of all the things you can't do in the games. Using common sense, it can be inferred that Zoroark will not be breedable, or else Celebi would not be needed to obtain Zoroa and the event would serve little purpose. Similarly, if Zoroa could evolve into Zoroark, the shiny beasts would not be required to unlock Zoroark. If Zoroark could breed and Zoroa were able to evolve, then none of them would be event-exclusive (contradicting CoroCoro) and a lot of people would lose incentive to participate in the movie promotion.

This is coming from someone who is looking forward to the events and their story more than the Pokémon themselves. However, the vast majority of fans don't care about the story and wouldn't bother with the events if they could obtain the Pokémon more easily.

Don't know if it is said already but I have an idea for the evolutions of Giaru/Gear. And it is connected with a new evolution method. The ability, the Giaru with Minus evolves different then the one with Plus.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Okay, time to clear up this Zorua/Zoroark stuff.

As far as I can tell, I have to be honest in saying that I think PokéBeach, much as I love it, really dropped the ball here (though the rest of the information in the story that contains this statement about Zorua looks good to me). Of the two pages that talk about Zorua and/or Zoroark, one only talks about their moves, and doesn't mention how they're obtained at all, and part of the other is devoted to talking about a Zorua & Zoroark figurine. So that leaves only roughly three-fifths of one relevant page (the one with Celebi and Zorua), which I'll translate here in its entirety:

----------

Top large text:
Poketto Monsutaa Burakku/Howaito - Zoroa ga nakama ni!!
Pokémon Black/White: Zorua has (a) friend(s)!!

Middle large text:
Serebii ga Zoroa to deau!!
Celebi meets Zorua!!

Right large text:
Eiga to rendou!!
Tie-in with the movie!!

Upper right main text:
Gekijou de puresento sareru Serebii wo "Pokemon B/W" ni tsuretekuru to tokubetsu na dekigoto ga hassei!
Bring a movie theater Celebi over to "Pokémon B/W", and a special event will occur!

Upper left screenshot:
Densou Mashin de Pokemon wo densouchuu desu! Shibaraku o-machi kudasai.
A Pokémon is being transmitted from the Transmission Machine! Please wait a moment.

Upper left caption:
Nyuushu shita Serebii wo Isshu chihou e tsuretekuru to...
Bring your obtained Celebi over to the Isshu region, and...

Lower left caption:
Isshu chihou de mo mezurashii Pokemon Zoroa wo nakama ni dekiru.
Even in the Isshu region, it can become the rare Pokémon Zorua's friend.

Lower left screenshot:
Zoroa to Serebii wa sugoku nagayoshi mitai!
Zorua and Celebi seem to be very friendly!

Lower middle text:
Zoroa wa baketa sugata de, to aru machi ni. Serebii wo tsureteiku koto de, shoutai wo arawasu no da!
Zorua appears in a disguised image in a certain city. When Celebi accompanies you, it will show its true form.

----------

Based on all this, I can see absolutely no reason to believe that this will be the only way of obtaining Zorua. The scan even clearly says that this event is intended as a movie tie-in, and other tie-in events with otherwise unremarkable Pokémon are already being done for this very movie: see this Bulbanews article about the movie-related event distribution of a decidedly unremarkable Scizor. Nowhere does it say that there will be no other Zorua ever obtainable in Isshu - all it says is that it's rare, which we've assumed from day one.

On the plus side, the screenshot of Transmission Machine seems to answer one question that's been around for months: whether or not Time Machine-like two-way trades will eventually be possible or not, some kind of one-way transfer from Gen. IV to Gen. V seems to now be confirmed.

The relevant sentence can be found in this scan; it's right below the screenshot showing Zoroark's moves.

If to be perfectly honest, the event-exclusiveness would be obvious even if CoroCoro didn't explicitly confirm it.

So apparantly in the preview sites for the next issue it says:

『ポケットモンスター ブラック・ホワイト』大
冒険攻略ブック。
冒険に役立つ攻略情報がぎっしり。

"Pokemon Black/White" Big Adventure Advice Book
There'll be informations in that will give you helpful advice about your adventure.

I do think they'll reveal some new Pokemon in the August issue as well however.

The sentence does seem pretty straightforward. But for due rigor, I have to point out that a) there is room for misinterpretation ("normal/usual play" means what exactly?), and b) the fact that the sentence would seem to have nothing at all to do with the picture it's captioning if that were the correct interpretation is incredibly odd. I am less sure than I was before, however.

I do have to completely disagree with it being "obvious", though - they've been flaunted for months, and were the first (and for a long time, the only) two Gen. V Pokémon revealed. Exactly what part of that screams "Hey guys! Event only!" to you? Because I just don't see it.

Well, Coro Coro September will come out on 8/15, so that's before the games are released.

But you're right, the are only (at least) 2 issues to be released before the games come out (3 if the release date is after 9/15), so I guess they'll have 'em full with new Pokemans the following issues.

The Next Corocoro may also Reveal the First Details/Poster of the New Anime.

I could be wrong but we are most likely at the Point now where we will probably get atleast 1 New Pokemon a Month Leading up to the Games Release.
(I predict we will get 3 Next Month)???

The sentence does seem straightforward,
It is straightforward. Normal gameplay has always meant one thing: direct availability within the game.

I do have to completely disagree with it being "obvious", though - they've been flaunted for months, and were the first (and for a long time, the only) two Gen. V Pokémon revealed. Exactly what part of that screams "Hey guys! Event only!" to you? Because I just don't see it.
The fact that they are receiving no less than two events which would be rendered null if there were other means to obtain them, and that there is nothing outstanding about the event Pokémon other than their species (unlike the promotional beasts). The event Scizor you mentioned is being distributed via Wi-Fi with no payment required, and even it has much better moves than Zoroa and Zoroark do.

Ho-Oh was the first Generation II Pokémon revealed and there was certainly nothing ordinary about it. Since Zoroark is not a version mascot, being exclusive to an event is a fitting alternative.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Also, we have yet to find out exactly how Zorua evolves into Zoroark, which we've been expecting for the past two months now. If they truly are event-exclusive, it's a little weird that they wouldn't reveal this alongside the events, and instead are going to wait to do it alongside some "normal play" game information. (That's assuming they "announce" it at all, of course, instead of just waiting for the game to be out - but the issue that revealed them made such a point of saying they'll have a new evolution method that I'd be surprised if they didn't.)

I still don't think they will Reveal the Evolution Method at all in Corocoro.
I think it will be a Secret though they may Reveal it Next Month to tie in with the Movie.

Also I just rememebered, Next Month we may get the Release Dates aswell^_^

Why should Giratina evolve? It's fine the way it is, both in stats and in looks.

Hell, if Manaphy can have a baby, I can see an evolving legendary. Though it's still a long shot.

Next month sounds like they might talk about the beginning of the game...how you get the starters, early bird and bug maybe, evil team and the first Gym Leader, etc.

That sounds fascinating - definitely worth a month's wait.

My following wishes for these topics:

1) Please, let us receive the starters differently. If I have to choose them from a briefcase one more time, I'm going to lose it.

2) The Gym Leader should be another type besides Rock.

3) Would love the team to not have a plan revolved around Reshiram or Zekrom.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

"Big Adventure Advice Book" Yeah, that does sound kinda like what they call the beginning of the game guide, but there's so much yet they have to reveal to us. We have not seen what the new poke gadget is, we do not have the evil team, we have not seen any new game mechanic, we have not seen any side quests. If there is anything else intrinsic to pre-release info, I can't think of it right now. Then again, they've been calling all of these packets of info as some form of guide, so it could be a misinterpretation of the name. A lot of that stuff could be what they show, as you would definitely see all that during your adventures in this new region.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot a berry-related thing, too (pokeblocks, poffin, aprijuice) and new kinds of poke balls

1) We'll choose it from a bag. The professor is a female this time, she has a handbag.
2) Okay, have a Ground Gym.
3) Okay, it will revolve around another legendary
