Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Hell, if Manaphy can have a baby, I can see an evolving legendary. Though it's still a long shot.
Don't count on it. Phione doesn't evolve, yet can only be obtained via breeding.

Most legendaries can't breed because it is much like a form of cloning (they usually have high stats), so even if you breed Manaphy you don't get a Manaphy but a much weaker version of this sea slug Pokemon.

If you want Pokemon with 600 stats, try the psuedo-legendaries. The only downside is that they are a pain to raise and evolve. (Dragonite evolves at lvl 55??)

So yeah, don't be expecting it.

2) The Gym Leader should be another type besides Rock.

I agree. The Rock gym is way overused as the first gym. 3 Gen's have it as the first - Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh. I think it's time for a Gen where there's no Rock gym at all.

But that breaks the tradition.Since Gen II didn't have a first Gym a rock gym, there really is no tradition.

I think rock is always set first to make it harder to raise a fire-type Pokemon starter through the game.

Gen II still had a rock gym in it - Brock. It's not the same as being the first gym I know, but there was one there.

Why would they make it harder for the Fire starter specifically though? :S

I happen to think that it is time for a generation where there are no Gyms at all.

I can't see that happening though. It could but I doubt it, as they'd have to shake the entire region up with something that makes it completely different to all the others. (I'm not saying it isn't possible, just I think it's unlikely.) What would they replace the gyms with if they weren't included? Contests? (I hope not...)

Give the fire starter some love as well, it's annoying to have it be weak to the first gym. When Grass and Water have been lucky for almost all generations (except any game with Johto)

2) Okay, have a Ground Gym.

You said that on purpose didn't you? Since that's the only other type (aside from Rock) that's weak against grass and water and super effective against fire.

Edit:

I happen to think that it is time for a generation where there are no Gyms at all.

I disagree, gyms may be less important, but they should always be in the games no matter what. The whole gym challenge is the most important aspect when it comes to Pokemon training within a Main Series game.

Gyms have always existed since the beginning, it's really as important as any other aspect of the games. Removing them would completely change what Pokemon is all about. Gyms are really the only thing that exists for Pokemon trainers.

Besides I can't see it, all other regions have gyms, but Isshu doesn't?

Actually, I said it because it's so similar to rock. In all seriousness, I'd like a normal gym at the start - neutral for all starters.

Also I love how now the time, battery power and weather are shown on the bottom screen in battles =3

EDIT:
Just in case anyone wanted to see all the images put on the official BW website this morning without having to constantly press buttons to see each new image, I've compiled them all in a post on my forum:
http://pokemonworld.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=4126&p=51525#p51525

Not sure if this counts as advertising, but going through my photobucket to get the links of all 4 images is a pain.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Well, Coro Coro September will come out on 8/15, so that's before the games are released.

But you're right, the are only (at least) 2 issues to be released before the games come out (3 if the release date is after 9/15), so I guess they'll have 'em full with new Pokemans the following issues.

How do you know Black/White won't come out before that? All it said was september?

The relevant sentence can be found in this scan; it's right below the screenshot showing Zoroark's moves.

If to be perfectly honest, the event-exclusiveness would be obvious even if CoroCoro didn't explicitly confirm it.

What does any of this mean?!

AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for this info, I can't zoom in that good and was tired of looking at blurry images, thanks for clearing them up!

The direct translation is: "Neither Zoroa nor Zoroark appears during normal gameplay." It's pretty blatant, isn't it?

I'd assume not, considering they evolve.
Ah well, the GTS will probably be full of people making rediculous demands for their baby Zoroas.

Who say that legendaries can't evolve? GF likes change. In Gen III they was maked legendaries with gender, in Gen IV they was maked a legendary can breed with Ditto...

Sucks about Zorua and Zoroark not being available during normal play. I actually wanted a Zorua :/

Oh well, Shimama is still here :p

The Official Black and White website elaborated on what we briefly heard in CoroCoro.

Pokebeach said:
The major piece of information revealed on the website is the purpose of uploading your Black and White save file to the Internet, which CoroCoro mentioned but did not elaborate on. Once the games are released, there will be a special website that will allow you to upload your save file so that you can play Black and White on the Internet. Once you're done, you can send the save file back to your DS to continue playing. Whether this will allow you to play the games in full, whether there will be limitations, or if it's just for extended content remains to be seen.

Oh, now you're just teasing the ROM hackers.

It seems we have the transfer system now, and elaboration on the C Gear. I wonder how this cart will use infrared, and if the Transfer Machine has the time machine's limitations.

EDIT: Play on the internet? I'm uncertain. We'll definitely need more details on that.
