Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

It seems we have the transfer system now, and elaboration on the C Gear. I wonder how this cart will use infrared, and if the Transfer Machine has the time machine's limitations.

EDIT: Play on the internet? I'm uncertain. We'll definitely need more details on that.

At the moment, I don't think we HAVE details.

That's why I said we'll need more details on it. I know we'll get them later.

The HeartGold and SoulSilver cartridges had InfaRed things built in them so they could communicate with the PokéWalkers. We'll probably get the same thing, just for a different purpose.

The uploading our save to the internet thing would give hackers even more freedom in messing around with the game. Although it's already quite easy to dump a cartridge's save data into a file on your computer, this would make it worse. Eventually someone would find an exploit like the recent GTS one, and allow you to send back manually edited save data to your cartridge.

I'm not sure I really like the idea of internet play anyway, though. I like the portability of DS games, and I doubt I'd ever choose to play one on the internet like that unless there was something I could only do through that method. If I wanted to sit at my computer and play a game, I'd buy a computer game.

Wow playing on the internet sounds pretty interesting o_O maybe it'll be for more pokemon storage or maybe you can upload your pokemon to play mini-games with them or something, can't wait to hear more about this!

Oh, now you're just teasing the ROM hackers.

I'm not certain that that is accurate. I don't believe the save file allows you to actually play Black & White on your PC. I believe it'll be something where you connect and can play something like the Yahoo Kids website a few years back. You can get items etc which then appear on your save in the game. However, that's just my guess, but I am fairly certain you're not actually playing the game over your Internet

I'm waiting for one of my translator friends to come on to confirm either way.

Edit; I just checked with one of them and they confirmed to me that it's not playing Black & White on your PC. It doesn't specifically state what you play but it's not the main games. It is not Black & White.

I may be jumping the gun here, but I think the C Gear is the watch thing the trainers have. I cannot confirm this.

I'm curious and quite interested in the internet possibilities. I'm hoping players will be able to have an online profile where you can easily keep track of your stats and also your friends. Think if you could play together with your friends and fight other people as a team or tag along random people to play mini-games! I know there's wi-fi, but maybe the internet will make things a little easier and add more versatility to the game.

Of course, the main game will be on the console but it's actually quite logical to take advantage of this wonderful technology we have. Maybe this will finally allow events to reach the whole world at the same time, which would be a much needed improvement.

Oh, I see. Sort of like a system where you get items from minigames and the like.

Although, I can imagine the website falling into disuse after the inevitable Gen VI.

I'm reluctant with moves like (if they're too far-reaching) this for similar reasons why I dislike things cloud computing (though that's mostly from a security standpoint) or the idea of gaming systems like the PSPGo with no physical media at all. For whatever reason, I prefer a (mostly) self-contained product.

Even Hg/Ss take away a little bit from this, relying on limited-time internet available features. Sure, you can restart your game at any time, but by doing so you immediately lose access to any of the Pokewalker courses already distributed; with no ability to get them again through legitimate means.

The rest of the text is in Japanese, yet that is in English. Has it been edited?

*remembers "Game Set" from Super Smash Bros (when set to Japanese mode*

Maybe that's a timed battle, and the match will automatically be called after that long?

Then they must not have been looking hard enough. It says you upload your save file to the net to play.

So, I noticed that Dogasu thinks Megroco is a combination of "me", meaning "eye", and "crocodile". It does seem to have a weird black rim around its eyes, but I'm wondering if that will come into effect upon evolution more.

You know,I just though since Megroko seems to live in the desert, this sand crocodile could be more related to the Nile Crocodile...An evolution related to Sobek would be epic.

Game Set?

A lot of JPN games use that when a game ends. For example, the Super Smash Bros series says that at the end of a match (the EN one goes "Success").

My bet is that it's a timed match.

59 seconds and 49 milliseconds?

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but one of the screenshots has Meguroku at level 18. That's relatively early in the game to capture one. And, if it's safe to assume so, I think it'll be found in the desert. Meaning Hiun City is accessible somewhat early on in the game.

Sobek is the Egyptian god of rivers and crocodiles and stuff, right? Not too good at mythology, and only know that much from a book :p
