Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

My bet is that it's a timed match.

59 seconds and 49 milliseconds?

More like 59 minutes and 49 seconds, IMO. It does take about 10 seconds for the Pokemon to appear in a wild match.

On another note, Level 20 Mijumaru? T_T That means that they don't evolve at Level 16 T__________T

Or that you get an Everstone early in the game, OR that you can press the "B" button and stop pokemon from evolving like always.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Game Set?

A lot of JPN games use that when a game ends. For example, the Super Smash Bros series says that at the end of a match (the EN one goes "Success").

My bet is that it's a timed match.

59 seconds and 49 milliseconds?

A timed match? Either this is just something GF did for the screenshot or it's a real in-game mechanic.

If so, then it could be a Wi-Fi/Battle Frontier only option OR (crazy concept here) it could be for the in-game matches. Imagine getting a boosted amount of experience points for how fast you beat the opponent? Sounds cheap, yeah, but if you think about it, if you had a lv100 beat a lv50 opponent they wouldn't get a whole lot of experience. Maybe X1.25 multiplier? Just an idea.

I hope the region extends a bit on the top and both of the sides because it looks a bit lacking right now. Since Hiun is a giant port, then maybe you can take a boat to a big island south of the region that's not shown on the imgae.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but one of the screenshots has Meguroku at level 18. That's relatively early in the game to capture one. And, if it's safe to assume so, I think it'll be found in the desert. Meaning Hiun City is accessible somewhat early on in the game.

my guess is that huin city IS the starting town. it looks to important to just be a place you stop at once or twice during the game plot

I think we can safely say it isn't.

While it seems most plausible that Hiun City isn't the starting point (there was an early screenshot depicting the character outside their house on a generic Pallet Town-esque town), I would have liked for a change that for once you started in a big city.

Except that the lab is probably far away from Huin City (near that place where those 2 small basic houses at the far south east of the far right peninsula) , unless they pull a 3rd Gen/4th gen where you don't choose a Pokemon directly from the lab, I can't see the lab being that far from a starting town. That's a much bigger gap then Twinleaf to Sandgem.

Then again I guess that depends entirely on whether or not that one place is actually Araragi's lab or not. I guess her lab could be in Huin City as well.

And while I do like the concept of a large starting city, it would only work if the Professor gave you the Pokemon there, or if their lab was in the same city.

Maybe the battle has been going on for some time. Or maybe it ended by the time the timer hit that mark.

..It's probably past it's evolution level. They always showcase high level Pokemon.

There is more on the left and right side of the map. Early, low-res pictures of Isshu showed us this. But the high-res seems to have been cut off.

The video is pretty much for demonstration, where the battles were probably triggered through debug systems as oppose to what actually happens in the game. I'm positive that the level of evolution will be the same.
