Yeah, I agree that it doesn't really strike me as a Pikaclone aside from being small and cute. I never really considered Marill the GenII Pikaclone though, just Pichu, so I consider the Pikaclones as the electric ones with the cheek pouches, and this is definitely not that. Though it does kinda have a biggish tail.

Wasn't being an electric type a requirement?

Not so much, no. For a time prior to the release of Gold & Silver, Marrill was referred to as "Pikablu".

Right type or not, it's generally considered a Pikaclone. I don't count Pichu, as he's part of Pikachu's evolution family... can't really be a "clone", per se.

To be a Pikaclone, doesn't it have to resemble Pikachu in some way? I don't see that with Chiramii as much as with Marill/Plusle/Minun/Pachirisu.

I do see many rememblances: body type, face type (big, pupil-only eyes), the big ears and long tail, it's bipedal with short hands and big feet and despite being based on a rodent, it doesn't have big teeth (like Pikachu and its clones but unlike "other" rodents like Ratatta and Nidoran).

Sorry, small correction here: Nidoran is based on a rabbit or hare like creature, as far as I know. This does mean that they have constantly growing teeth, but they are in fact not rodents. :) If you can help me in my quest to end the misconception that rabbits are rodents then I would be most grateful! :D

We already know a lot of the information, but 1Up posted an article from Famitsu Magazine discussing the new B&W details:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179922

quick rundown of some of the new features due up for Pokemon Black/White, as revealed in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine:
- You are now able to upload save data from the game to the Internet. Uploaded data can be accessed via a special website and played with on your PC in some as-yet-unspecified way; anything that changes while you do this will be saved and reflected over on the DS game.

- Pokemon boldly steps forward into the year 2002 and finally implements a "random match" mode, letting you find a trainer to fight online without having to learn their friend code.

- Assorted other Wi-Fi functionality is in the offing, including some sort of lobby feature that lets up to eight trainers gather together inside a single Pokemon Center. Details on that should come later, hopefully.

- You can now assign menu-system shortcuts to the Y button, letting you access individual pages in the Pokedex or whatever with the press of a single button.

- Innate Pokemon abilities, such as resistance to sleep or intimidation, are now shown onscreen during battle whenever they're triggered, making it more plain when they've taken effect.

- During battle, you can also see what the weather's like at all times on the top screen, making it easier to notice what the weather effect will be on any elemental attacks you have in mind.

- Not that it matters all that much, but Black/White is the first in the series where the "Pokemon prof" -- the wise professor who gives you your starter Pokemon at the very beginning -- is a woman. Professor Araragi, decked out in lab coat and miniskirt, is ready to help you out during your travels in the Isshu Region.

- Finally, as reported earlier, the Poke Mart convenience stores are now merged into Pokemon Centers, making them one-stop shops for healing Pokemon, setting up multiplayer, and doing your shopping.

Pokemon Black/White is due out September in Japan and next spring in the US.

Again, a lot of stuff we already knew about.

Is there anything in that bulletin list we didn't already know about? Other than their assumption that the C Gear is just another Union Room, that is.

The sarcasm is rightfully deserved, too. The Generation IV Wi-Fi features were nothing more than a carbon copy of the Japanese Crystal's Mobile Adapter options (barring the Wi-Fi Plaza, if anyone even cares about that). Thanks for making me wait ten years to see some progress, Game Freak.

The rival we could get next month. Gym leaders I'm less sure on. I'm not sure how DP handled releasing those, if they even did.

If I recall, we had to wait until the guides came out. The rival we'll definitely see, along with Team Bad Guys.

Stuff revealed during DP's development at this same stage but has not yet been revealed to us: The exact release date, The rival, the evil team, the poke gadget

Stuff that came next: a demo revealing some new pokemon and the game mechanics, TV ads revealing some new pokes, the side quest, the berry related gimmick, clarification of the previous gen to this gen trading system (Mind you, this was all in August, one month before D/P's release)

Also, for anime fans out there, last time, the DP anime was revealed in July. I expect the same to happen this time, whether it's by the teaser for the next movie, or by an ad in Coro Coro itself

That reminds me, when are the trailers for this going to pop up? We're now three months from the release and not a single trailer.

I thought they revealed Roark in the Corocoro when DP was coming out.

Same.
I'll also take the starter's evos, even though they didn't do that for D/P.

That is correct. Roark was revealed during the month of D/P's release.

I expect they will tell us of any major battling mechanics that have changed this generation as they did with the weather effectiveness thing.

If there are any of course,

Okay, I don't think this is going to happen at all, but I just had an idea.

What if the starting town is all the way in the east, and you're really travelling to Huin City to get your actual starter. So your mother gives you either Tsutaaja, Pokabu, or Mijumaru.

Then maybe once you reach Huin City, Dr. Araragi will give you the real Isshu starter Pokemon, with them being the Dark-Psychic-Fighting types.

Like I said, I honestly don't think this will happen at all! I just thought about it.
