The NPC's were never helpful anyways.

One wonders why the lab where you get your starter Pokemon is in the middle of nowhere.
You get your starter from the professor, but as a present for you to share with your friends, not in the lab. She takes you to your lab afterwards for the Pokedex most likely.

Oh boy...
Those were from a pamphlet, and they were likely from the pamphlet given with the mag, so yes we still have those pages.

Unless the Professor is on really good terms with the PC, I can't comprehend any sense in giving teenagers small animals to fight with.

"Welcome to the region, and I hope you have fun, son", would be a good reason why, if they choose to of course.

Professor Araragi leaves you, Cheren, and Belle each a present and tells you to share it with your friends. This is when you pick your starter. Sometimes you'll battle your friends during your adventure. Belle is spontaneous and one of your two rivals. She also has a strong side to her that shows like when she goes out on an adventure against her father's wishes. During your adventure she will have times where she will be unreliable as well, but she will grow as the story progresses. Cheren is very intelligent. He's extremely trustworthy and will give you advice throughout your journey. His goal is to be a champion.

I am loving the rivals even more now :D.

I don't know, man.

Some teenagers are the most awful creatures to roam this earth, on par with Liches and Cthulhus.

Gen 2
Gen 3
Gen 4

Where you around for those generations? Especially Gen 4 and it's really bad reason?

EDIT: Please tell me we can still name our rivals though... please.

I don't imagine 10 year olds have the sadistic capacity of teenagers.

Gen 1 had the worst reason. Giving someone a Pokemon just because they wanted to go in the grass?

Teenagers are more mature though, so eh. Also, the both Cheren and N want to be champions. 3 trainers going for it could mean we have a 1 on 1 on 1 champion battle, which would be fucking epic. Do it GF, have 3 trainers with 1 Pokemon out each going for it, striving for the ultimate goal.

We haven't been able to change the name of characters since gen III (barring the remakes), so it doesn't seem likely at all.
You could name your rival in DPPt.

I remember a rumor that someone said that Iris was based lightly on a in-game character. It makes me wonder if it is Belle. As in that her father doesn't want her to go on adventures.

Does anyone remember if that rumor (it was with others) was proved false?

Love how their still is an infinite void of trees in a game progressing the evolution of its style and breaking barriers.

No, that was the Gen 4 reason. In Gen 1, Oak was just going to give it to you anyways.

Okay...I was impressed with box-trading, triple battles and the Dream thing...but now to hear that B/W have an MMORPG type mode...

I'M NOW SO FREAKIN' IMPATIENT FOR THE GAME! I don't care if I have to give my soul to customs, I want this game!

It wouldn't be pokemon without it.
