Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I really doubt they would use part of the USA as a region. It could be like Hoenn, a rotated part of Japan. And there is a promising spot just below Hokkaido (Sinnoh) if you rotate 180 degrees.

It's a big map, btw

I'm still feeling NYC. Granted its a lot less urbanized than than New York, it looks like its pretty fitting. Of course I get the idea GF changes what's actually in the region to an extent.

...and I highly doubt NYC as Pokemon has not ran out possible areas to use in Japan. they will probably move to a different country after they run out of Japanese places.

Edit: And it only said that the region was going to be far away from "Johto and Kanto", not Sinnoh. This is right below Sinnoh and a great distance away from Kanto/Johto. It's also between the two, allowing for the Sinjoh Ruins.

Your forgetting that it was stated that Isshu is further from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh than the 4 are from eachother. It sounds to me like they mean somewhere outside of Japan.

So... maybe we'll get random weather now? Huh? Anyone with me?

That would be awesome

@seeker of nine: Look right below Hokkaido. See the three peninsulas? It's at the northern tip of Honshu.

If you're talking about those tiny prongs, I doubt they would be enough for an entire region. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh were based off of land way bigger than that.

If Isshu is based off of NYC, I'd be surprised since they haven't ran out of regions of Japan to base a region off of. I guess Gamefreak is really doing 'something new.'

I don't think basing it off of NYC would mean they've ran out of places in Japan. The series is tagged as being different, full of stuff we wouldn't expect in a normal Pokemon game.

That and I feel that it would be great in acknowledging that Pokemon is a global phenomenon. New York City is certainly more recognizable than some obscure place in Japan.

Yea but this region is supposed to be very far away from any of the older regions. And nintendo has quite a few offices and stores and whatnot in NY. And after 15 years, I could see a tip of the hat to the american fans. NY seems like the next logical place after japan when it comes to region locations.

See post above as I edited my post because I knew people would bring up a misunderstanding. I read Japanese. Last months CoroCoro, where the region name was released, stated that "The region is far away from Kanto and Johto", neglecting any mention of Hoenn or Sinnoh.

Yea but Kanto and Johto are pretty much in the middle of everything in the regions so far. I think its implying that the region is even further away from the original two than even Hoenn and Sinnoh.

Black and white, good versus evil, and yin and yang are going to play a major part in the plot. However, unlike previous Pokemon games, the decisions and choices you make will "influence" the plot of the game. If you make "good" choices, you might get certain help or items, whereas "bad" choices could have negative effects. The point is that the plot will not be as cut-and-dry as previous games, changing depending on the player's actions.
Wait... KOTOR and Red Dead style choices that effect the game?

SO WANT!

Mass Effect and Fable use something similar to that too. I'd really love that system, and it's a pretty common staple in western RPGs to boot. (lampshaded by being in western region now?)

If that's the case, people may finally get to take part in the evil organization for once.

I really like the idea of altering the gameplay by the decisions you make. It would make the game alot more interesting than the classic games so far. I kind of hope there's more to do in the game than just completing the pokedex after you beat the elite 4.

Again, I think it implies that it is further away than Hoenn/Sinnoh. Those regions were never claimed to be all that far away from johto/kanto. I'm still betting it implies a bigger distance than we've seen before.

That doesnt rule out an area based off Japan. Here we go

It says : Isshu is not close to other regions
It does not say: Isshu is not based off a place that is close to the places the other regions are baced on

Correct me if Im wrong, but the reason Im preety sure that we get it early is because the magizine is shipped early to subscribers, kinda like shonen jump here. So technicly the mag is already out.

Pokemon sunday almost never shows anything new.....so yah.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

It could be possible that the map they designed is based off of northern Honshu and was edited in such a way that it looked like Manhattan. And anyways, my area is (I believe) much bigger than Manhattan and thus more suitable for a region. Add that to the distance between it and ToJoh, I see no reason why it isn't northern Honshu.

Oh and btw, is that the Sinjoh ruins I see on the map?

I said it was based off of northern Honshu, right under Hokkaido (Sinnoh). I provided a map and proof that CoroCoro did not say anything about it being "far away from all other regions".

Sinjoh ruins? Unlikely...it would be on the southern edge....and the only thing i see is a city.

Sir or Madame, i mean no offense, but have u seen Manhattan? the city and piers are placed PERFECTLY on the map. theres also a small area between it and C park that would make for the desert. im really not sure what else could convince you if a solid map even couldn't...

EDIT: the area you are suggesting is Almia...
