Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I was just browsing over northern Honshu (with north to the south) in google earth when I noticed something: A lake above the northern peninsula and a mountain range on the left one. And on closer nspection, I found a huge port city in-between the middle and right.
Pull up picture??

EDIT: Wait, Japan? Remember, the region is far from the previous ones.

OH LAWD THATS PART OF KANTO XD XD XD

Well Johto had Goldenrod City and Ecruteak city and they kept some major cultural themes.

But what I meant was is that it will still feel very "Japanese-ish". The characters that they decide to actually populate the world with will still stem from what the creators are familiar with and have been accustomed to.

For instance, tons of characters will still have different color hair, look cartoonish, and have certain qualities. I don't believe we're looking at an entire region filled with Lt. Surge's, Fantina's, and Dahlia's. That, truth be told, frightens me.

Oh I agree. But I do think the characters will be a bit more... Westernized. I mean a lot of people have said that about the two main characters.

But I agree if its is New York City... It will basically be a NYC populated by Anime characters (if that makes any sense). I just hope they put some references to the real town! (hypothetically if this is based on NYC, etc. etc.)

On the subject of the plot, will there be two separate story/ending depending on the choice you choose? or will it just lead to one massive DreamCliffhanger ending?

I will say this: If they are in fact planning to bring in a Westernized influence, I sorely hope they've done the proper research.

Don't bet on it.

Everybody in NYC will have a FAT world map sprite.

It says it's far from Kanto and Johto (i.e. Tokyo and other nearby places)

Yes, granted its alot less urbanized. I'll give you that. But the peninsula to the left looks alot more like the one in NY than in Japan. The one you're pointing out looks way too big.

If you look north of the Pennisula, that's Mt. Fiji.

Which is Mt. Silver in the games.

That's Pallet Town.

I'm uploading a picture of NY right now. Hang tight.

I see no resemblance to Isshu AT ALL. It's not just the colors, it's the shape of the land.

And for you, I'll go grab a pic of Mt. Fuji which is closer to the middle of Japan.

I'd zoom in closer to the Manhattan Area.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Just wondering why it matters where the games map is based on? Where ever it's based on I think we can all agree that the areas look unique and it'll be fun to play through. I however since a lack of cities when looking at the map, which worries me...

I just had an Idea, what if the game were more "open to travel". You choose which cities to go to first. The directions you pick will determine the strength of the trainers and gym leaders. You can visit gyms in very different orders during different playthroughs! The order you visit the gyms will adjust the levels of the pokemon at the gyms. Won't happen though but i thought thatd be cool.

Fire yeti might be my favorite pokemon... period. Blazuma maybe? and Zebolt

Also, I notice there's no mention of the badges being removed or reduced rumor. I guess that means its either a mistranslation or a false idea like the triple battles.

Wrong - all those rumors (including Araragi) were around when the starter scans came out last month, too, and obviously not all of them were confirmed then either. We've got a few months to go, and a lot more of these rumors could become fact.
