Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Here's my opinion on the "rumours" on pokebeach.

1. A green Cobra to accompany Reshi and Zek? What? Not only does green not fit in with the Yin/Yang, I fail to understand why it would be a Cobra? If there is a possible reason behind a green Cobra linking to Yin/Yang I'll stand corrected.

2. Minotaurus. Bipedal Tauros? Eh, not sure about that. But it might work.

3. Field changing items? No, just no. Weather works fine, but a Poison field? I don't get it.

4. Morality and Pokemon. Can't see it personally.

1) My theory is that it was going to be a legend, but is now the final evo of Tsutarja. Just speculatin'.

2) It does seem a little unneeded but this is GF. After the Evos in Gen IV I wouldn't be surprised.

3) It's a hit and miss, but nonetheless I'm hoping for Random Weather.

4) I like games like this, but I would have to see how GF incorporates it into Pokemon first.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

What's Orichalcos?

And it could be the final evo of Grass starter, I guess. I wouldn't mind that if it was done right.
The field effects just don't seem right, there should be weather like a thunderstorm for Electrics, or strong winds for Flying. But not for every type, that's too far, imo. Although Acid Rain for Poisons could be good.
And the morality aspect doesn't fit with the games imo, that's why I can't see it.

I'm just happy the region looks so diverse and amazing. The best one so far tbh.

Just this thing got me thinking.. Isn't that the same kind of feature the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG has? With those field-changing cards?

Lets not discuss those rumors in this thread. This is for information in CoroCoro.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Sorry Sketch. Do we have a rumours thread I'll have a look there.

The Crocs ability Earthquake Spiral? Is this the correct translation? Cos yesterday someone else (forgive me, I can't remember), translated it as Overconfidence. I think. This would make more sense than Earthquake Spiral - which doesn't.

And has anyone spotted the possible starting town on the map? I tried to yesterday and failed...

I love this rumour where making certain decisions lead to you either becoming bad or good. I love games like that. Ever since the guy on Nugget Bridge offered me the opportunity of becoming a part of Team Rocket I have always wanted to be a villain.

I think that Black and White are looking to be really good games, a complete redesign of Pokemon Games. I'm disapointed with some of the new pokemon, but so impressed with some of the others. Dessert Crocodile for the win.

Well, r/s/e and d/p/pl's storylines and villianous teams all had potentially world altering effects. I don't see how the game could still be a sandbox game if you were to choose evil, as in for instance, if the world were destroyed or something.
But I have always wanted to see a storyline from the perspective of an evil team. :)

What the crap is this? It looks as if the player is given some sort of option here, one that doesn't look like 'yes' and 'no'.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I love the new pokemon. The only one I don't like is he pidgeon one. It looks like a deformed, ugly Starly.

The gears one looks cool, it just looked more like a fan-made pokemon than a real one (which may be a good thing, or may not.)

I love the chincilla one. It's so cute. I wonder if it will be the regional rodent or a random normal type.

The little pink piggybank thing is interesting. I see that it floats in the air even though it has feet. Most of the time if they bother giving it four legs, they walk on them. I like it.

The gorrila one is cool. It has an interesting design. The only problem is that it looks a little too much like Heatran.

The electric zebra one is really neat. It's about time they had a zebra. It's good they kept it black and white because I'm tired of the blue and yellow electric types and it goes along with the game theme.

The crocodile is probably my favorite. I don't think they've had a quadrapedal lizard at all yet. The only problem is that it looks like it would have almost the same moveset as Hippopatos.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Since this is related to a Pokemon revealed in CoroCoro yesterday, I think it's the right place for it. I don't know if someone has noticed this yet, but I think it would be worth mentioning:

This was posted on 2ch on May 29:

160 : ヘラヤガラ(千葉県)[]:2010/05/29(土) 01:57:54.70 ID:/cEPijyH
伝説はフォルムチェンジあり
ピカチュウポジションの ポケモンは「チラーミィ」

(here's the link:
http://www.unkar.org/read/tsushima.2ch.net/news/1275064528/ )

It says that the legendaries are able to change their form (the term フォルムチェンジ for Pokemon specifically means to change their appearance into another, unknown form, like Shaymin's Sky forme), and it also mentioned the new Pokemon Chiramii.

But, of course in May noone knew about the existence of Chiramii, which is why everyone on 2ch replied like "What? Chiramii? Did you mean Jirachi? (it's spelled quite similar)" and it was generally ignored. But if he knew about Chiramii that early before anyone else knew about it, wouldn't that mean that he had some insider information and that the forme change thing might be true as well?

I think it's interesting that Munna floats in the air, but it doesn't have Levitate, or a Flying type to avoid Ground moves. Seems weird.

And the Zebra is amazing I have to admit. I'm still hoping for a Dark/Electric type, so this one could be it in it's final evo! The colour scheme could represent that. (It's very Dark looking it has to be said.)

Could be something to do with their abilties? That would explain the secracy of not revealing their use in the mag.

I'm liking the Hong Kong or New York City theories. D: Remember that it's farther away to take a boat AND airplane, not just an airplane.

I think this is being misinterpreted. It's not saying that people usually take a boat or airplane to get there from Japan but you would need a boat or airplane to get there. In other words, it's in another country.

It's like how people in New York would say Japan is "overseas" even though they most likely wouldn't go by sea to get there.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I usually find it easy to accept new pokemon designs, but thus far I can't say I've been bowled over by the 5th offering of monsters. Stuff like the flowery tapir and the electric Zebra really aren't doing much for me I'm afraid.
I feel that 'Gear' in particular is the worst of the bunch. The concept behind the character isn't that stellar to begin with, but really; what's up with the shapes that constitute as a face? Why the blank stare in one eye and 'x' in the other?

That said, I think Hihidaruma and Mamepato are winners. Hihidaruma is the type of poke I usually go for, the quirky looking ones with origins that people aren't too famillar with. I love that toothy grin and the heavy eyebrows. Dude's got a lot of character.
Mamepato is a cute flying rat, so it's more or less an insta-like. Pigeons are awesome in real life, so I'm glad to finally see them get some proper representation in pokemon. Granted, it looks a bit like Starly, but I'm willing to let it slide.

You would think so, but the blog which correctly predicted the starters and professor's names also made a note of Isshu's map being the the horizontal mirror of Tohoku, and that's a fairly big stretch. There is no telling with these anonymous sources as to how much they really know, although I don't know why anyone with inside information would still opt to spread baseless rumors.

If Reshiram and Zekrom do have Formes, that should hopefully mean that they have other types that are more fitting of their classifications. I would imagine that their colors would be inverted and that Reshiram would be the Dark-type one, leaving Zekrom with something else.

There are rumors that the Evil organization(s) and plot points will be discussed in the next issue. Plus there might be a few new Pokemon, Abilities, and Moves like usual.

Anything that ISN'T a rumor?

How many pokes do they normally reveal before new games are released? So far we've had 14, I think. I don't want to know them all before the games come out. (Although in the U.K we won't get the games for another 9-12months. So I bet I'll know them all before I get my hands on the game :( )

I'm just interested, as I haven't followed a release like this before.

I think we need to know the Evil organisation next though, rather than more mons.

Anything that ISN'T a rumor?

Yeah, don't they normally say what info they will have in the next issue?
