I don't know if somebody else has brought this up but...

What the crap is this? It looks as if the player is given some sort of option here, one that doesn't look like 'yes' and 'no'.

Whatever the fuck that means of course.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Is the debate about "Location of Isshu" still on?
I just found interesting (well, to me at least) fact about the landscape of northern Honshu.

http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?q=honshu&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Honsh%C5%AB&ll=40.890677,140.792542&spn=0.957159,2.8125&t=h&z=9

According to Google Map, there are two lakes on the west side of Aomori and three lakes on the east side. And a bigger lake in the south of Aomori.

If you look closely at the Isshu map, you can see that there are three swamp-like lake on the west side of the map, and a lake on the east side of the map. Also, the center of the map, we have a bigger lake in the middle.

Rotating the view 180 degrees of the map will give a good view of Isshu. Beside, there are mountains on each side of the map; and so does Isshu.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I don't really see how that's Isshu, it's either New York, or Hong Kong Island, and since apparently there will never be any official confirmation I don't see much reason for bringing the debate up, I guess we just have to let everyone believe what they want to believe. However, I doubt it will be long before a fan site like Bulbapedia claims it is confirmed as New York.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

There are rumors that the Evil organization(s) and plot points will be discussed in the next issue. Plus there might be a few new Pokemon, Abilities, and Moves like usual.

That actually sounds about right. Next month, we'll actually be getting August's issue, since this one was July's. And the games are supposed to be released in Japan in September, so the issue we get next month (the August issue) would technically be one of the last Gen V-centered news that we get before the games actually come out. Somebody had mentioned to me earlier that some of the Team Galactic stuff, like Mars, weren't released till one of the last few CoroCoro's before D/P were officially released.

We actually only have 2 issues, and if it comes out after the 15th, 3.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Hi, wow this thread is moving fast :|

But, here are some thoughts of mine:

1.) What if our Prof. this time is the player-character's mother? And the PC has a stay-at-home dad? I think that would be interesting.

2.) I've seen Zekrom's ability translated as both "Terra Voltage" and "Teravoltage." "Tera-" is a measuring-prefix, for example one "terawatt" is equal to about 1,000,000,000,000 watts, according to my converter. So Zekrom either has an ability that affects ground-types, or one that... superpowers electric attacks? I'm not sure.

3.) We haven't seen Reshi/Zekro's HP bars yet. I wonder if that means they're gendered, or if it's all coincidence. I, personally, would like to think they are gendered, especially since the yin/yang connection is essentially proven.

That's a good one! Haven't thought of that yet. She is rather young for a Researcher too.

I'd much rather that the rumor about player's dad being an archaeologist be proven true, although the two possibilities are not mutually exclusive.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Gone for a couple hours and there's already 8 billion new pages...

Anyway, I read the pokebeach rumours a couple pages back, and I honestly hope the green cobra and tauros evo thing isn't true. I don't like the idea of reshiram and zekrom having alternate formes either.

A green cobra for a third legend seems really random alongside Reshiram and Zekrom. It kinda reminds me a bit of rayquaza too.

Also, Tauros seriously does not need to evolve. Especially not into something bipedal. If any of this happens though, I guess I'll get used to it over time.

Rainbowsaurus, shh... Sketch is gonna get mad if we talk about the rumors here.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Omg, dude, Saffron City is based off TOKYO!! XD
I said that. :/

Well, whatever. Now I'm confused as to where Honshu is. I got two results. One was youre port city, which is all there is in relation to Isshu, and one in the southern part, which looks a lot more like Isshu. I still think the islands' shape is a lot more like the American ones, though.
But you cannot ignore the fact that there are so many similarities in northern Honshu to Isshu. If you shave off a couple miles of land to make the peninsulas more even, you got Isshu.

I don't get why is it so hard to believe that Isshu may be based in Manhattan. I know NYC has a bad rep, but why is it so BAD for the new region to be based there or in the US?

Fun Fact: Orre bears resemblance of Phoenix, Arizona.
Why is it so hard to believe that it's NOT based in NYC? And, even though Orre looks like Arizona, guess what: the region is STILL IN JAPAN.

Is the debate about "Location of Isshu" still on?

As I'm the one who pointed it out originally when people assumed it was NYC, I would like to thank you for your efforts while I slept. Thanks :]

This is rather interesting, since it would mean than a thunder from Zekrom will hurt something against ground trainers. Lightning rodders, YOU GOIN' DAAAOOOOOONNNNN!!! If it's Teravoltage, then lv 100 Mantine Vs. Zekrom is gonna go one-way. 8x damage FTW!

Wow, um yeah I have no problem with it being based in Japan, but you obviously have problems with it being based in NYC. I don't give a flying Chimchar what it's based on. But don't go accussing me of something. Dude just let it go...

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

I wonder...

I noticed this when I saw the colored types of the revealed Pokemon at it was extremely colorful, and I'm wondering are they going for revealing all the types before the games come out?

I know there are repeating types, but they have a unique case (that separates them from the others: Starter, dual type, legendary). So by September will all types of new Pokemon be revealed? That means in case I'm being confusing there will be about 17 Pokemon that correspond with the Pokemon types. Obviously because of the repeating types it's going to be more than that but I just mean in general.

I'm not gonna "let it go" until we slightly more definite proof that it either north Honshu or NYC, shapes of the land disregarded.

Okay then, at least can we move the debate to the Isshu thread... I know minimodding, but I feel it's a little more appropriate.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

Well, just got news of the new leaked scans. Got to say those Pokemon have some of the best designs yet.

I assume the pidgeon and the other bipedal/feline/rodent are the first Pokemon encountered in the game; like the Pidgey/Rattata, Hoothoot/Sentret, Taillow/Zigzagoon, and Starly/Bidoof. I believe the pidgeon will have only one evolution this time, similar to the mammal every generation (I hope that the mammal gets a two evolutions this time, though). The one with the two hovering gears looks like the third reincarnation of a floating psychic/steel type (Beldum/Bronzor). I didn't like the one that looked like a floating piggy bank, though. It could be psychic, but I don't really care because I probably won't be catching it.

On the second page there were some great designs as well. The fire gorilla looks like a more Attack/Defense-oriented Chimchar family and the other two look like an Electric Zebra and Electric Alligator. Possible types I can think of would be: Zebra (Electric/Dark,Psychic), and Alligator (Electric/Dark or Ground/Dark). For all of these I think that they will either have one evolution or no evolutions at all.

I keep hearing about the abilities and names of these new Pokemon so I'll be looking for new information right now. I'll post back later.

Re: CoroCoro Discussion Thread (Current Issue: July 2010)

We already know the types and abilities of the new Pokemon. It's all here:
http://serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon.shtml

Yeah, I didn't read the previous pages. I was just so excited about the new designs. I went over to Pokebeach and looked at their typings, new attacks, and new abilities.

It seems that Chiramii, Mamepato, and Meguroko are my favorites overall because of their designs, new attacks, and abilities. 'Pidgeon Breast' seems to be like 'Oblivious', where the user ignores all status changes. And Meguroko's ability, 'Earthquake Spiral' sounds powerful, I can imagine it being an Attack Sweeper. The only thing it has against it is its five weaknesses.

Lastly, Tauros' new evolution 'Minotauros' (?) sounds awesome.

The Sandile is pretty neat with its ability, but it will get totally screwed over by some types. Particularly Bug, because it resists Ground and is super effective against Dark.

Tauros evolution has not been confirmed, just a rumor at this point.
