Re: Official CoroCoro Discussion Thread

Those aren't much better. I think we'll have to wait for high-res scans before we can come to a conclusion. Also, it doesn't help that his legs are right behind an NPC's head.

Re: Official CoroCoro Discussion Thread

That picture is so small, how can anyone tell which direction he's facing? And why did this end up in the BulbaNewsNow section?
Found a better picture:

As well as:
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/82/XY_Prerelease_walking_diagonally.png

I can't make out the text to the left of it though, can somebody else?

He's not walking diagonally, he's just turning around the corner, it's just that the screenshot was taking mid-animation, hence why he's still turning and facing diagonally, but if you pay attention to his position, he's still doing a 90 degrees turn. If it were diagonal walk, the character wouldn't be standing on the exact corner, but somewhere in the middle of the horizontal and vertical paths.

That does present another possibility. The picture does however appear to show a diagonal movement at first glance; if it is as you say, it's not obvious. If it's merely showing the player character turning, then this picture likely has another purpose. Therefore, I think it might be important to figure out what that purpose is. For that, the text surrounding it is important.

I don't doubt the possibility of diagonal walking, since the 3DS has an analog stick. But I think it's something that should be shown in a trailer, not a screenshot.

Interesting. I wonder if it's just for ease of browsing, or a side feature like in FRLG, or if it means something else. I guess it could mean the regional dex is bigger and helps to narrow down where you're wanting to look. I want more information on all of this already.

More info:
NeoGAF - View Single Post - PokéBOMB III: New X & Y details revealed in CoroCoro

"Central Karos Pokédex has at least 77 Pokémon in it
Coastal Karos Pokédex has at least 51 Pokémon in it
Mountain Karos Pokédex has at least 6 Pokémon in it"

That would give us "at least" 134 new Pokémon, more than every previous even numbered generation, and overall, second only to Gen V. So if that's true, it woule be very welcomed. Although I don't know hat Serebii and NeoGaf have to do in the CoroCoro thread.

His source is CoroCoro: NeoGAF - View Single Post - PokéBOMB III: New X & Y details revealed in CoroCoro

And yeah, although it's at least 134, I think it might end up being closer to 200-300, which is going to be a big regional dex.

Edit: Err.. yeah, it doesn't mean that many _new_ Pokémon.

Those numbers were taken from the CoroCoro scan. And it's fairly obvious that old Pokémon are included in that count; the numbers just represent a partial list of the Pokémon seen by the player.

Poor Weavile's going to become even more irreverent in gen 6 thanks to this "Fairy" type

That's not related to Corocoro; please discuss that in the appropriate thread and not this one.

Re: Official CoroCoro Discussion Thread

I'd guess at roughly 100 Pokémon in each sub-Dex, making for 300 Pokémon native to Karos. If half of those are new, then that's very respectable.

I'm guessing that they're hinting that you go from the central plains out to the beaches on the West followed by the mountains to the East, judging by how there are loads of Central Pokémon seen, a few fewer from the Coastal area and nearly none from the Mountains

Serebii posted the close-up image showing the dex: http://www.serebii.net/corocoro5138.jpg

I can clearly read "Central Karosu Zukan", "Coast Karosu Zukan", and "Mountain Karosu Zukan" and interestingly, they use the English words for the different areas.

In the Pokédex, I think I can see "Evolution" and "Type" buttons there, not sure about the rest.

Re: Official CoroCoro Discussion Thread

Oh so it's kind of going to be divided up like how FRLG sorted by habitat? I didn't really like FRLG's Pokedex for that reason, but it sounds like they might at least be making that concept simpler with this. I hope so at least.

It's divided up into regions, not habitats. I'm guessing it's going to be a west/central/east thing.

It's possible there will be some overlap, it's impossible to tell at this point.

I did not say it will. I said 'kind of', meaning not exactly the same. The point I was trying to say is that it looks like Pokemon are still going to be sorted into different categories, like how FRLG did. I personally found FRLG's system to be needlessly confusing and kind of pointless. So I hope this one is simpler.

Hm... I'd rather have only 100~110 new Pokémon, just for the sake of consistency, but... the more, the merrier.
