I read about this yesterday. Man, it's just... depressing. It is just tragic that he lost his wife just as he was about to begin his life with her and his children.

Also, am I the only one who though of Clannad After Story when I saw this?

The poor guy. It's tragic to lose a loved one when you gain two more. RIP his wife.

I don't think something like this needs to be justified as "news" - a man had a huge tragedy strike what should have been a momentously happy occasion, and trying to argue that we shouldn't recognize this as "news" is very insensitive.

Insensitive? If he wasn't famous almost nobody here would've "send him their prayers". At least I don't differentiate between famous and non-famous people.

This is not a thread to debate whether or not this particular article belongs on the site.

Point taken. But just to clear things up, then where is the place to debate stuff like that?

Gosh, what an awful ordeal. I honestly hope Dan and his new twins will be okay, losing a wife and a mother so quickly.
This news article, really makes you think of a VA as not just a voice, but a real human being with real emotions and tradgies in their lives...

There shouldn't be one. :/ It shouldn't have to be debated.

Ugh. This sucks. D: A lot. I could never even imagine having to go through a situation like that. hopefully things look up for him soon D:

Bad as it sounds, I personally feel little sympathy. I mean, I'm sorry his wife passed away and all, but I think since around about the time I discovered how awful 4Kids was, I began to hate anyone involved in it.
I just hope those children don't get involved in dubbing...And I wonder how Green will cope with being a widower...[/crude remark]
Still, he should look on the bright side; in having lost one beloved, he acquired two, each containing half of his wife's genes, so in a sense she's still with him. [/wise-ish remark]
Still, his and her family have my condolences anyway, despite my hatred of one single company he was associated with. He was a good person, I assume. [/apologetic remark]

By that logic, I'm assuming you don't tend to feel sorry for anyone. If you don't differentiate between famous and non-famous people, you shouldn't have a problem feeling sympathetic for either.

This is neither the time nor the place for this.

A man's wife is dead. Think about that for a moment. Think about the full, awful enormity of that and what it would do to you.
But you feel nothing for him specifically because he dubbed some cartoons, and you didn't like it.

There are other venues to complain about dubbing. Kindly use one of them instead.

As an aside, let's not have the old "you're only sympathetic because they're famous" debate. We are naturally more saddened when tragedy strikes people we're close to. Though we may not know "famous" people in person, they can still have had an effect on our lives through their work. It's a perfectly natural response to this kind of thing.

This is truly horrible. Dan Green lost his wife and those children will never know their mother. It's all I can do not to cry right now, thinking about that. Dan and his family are in my thoughts. I am deeply sorry for their loss.

I think what makes it even more sad is that it happened the day after Thanksgiving, the day of which you give thanks to everybody and everything you have. I imagine now that day is going to be both a day to bless the birth of his children, and a day to mourn his wife and be thankful for all the memories they shared together.

As for the people coming in here and being insensitive... if you yourselves haven't lost anybody close, then I can see why you're acting the way you are. With the way I've seen you post in response to me and others before (you know who you are), seeing you come in to this thread like an insensitive killjoy doesn't suprise me in the least. This reminds me of when I was seeing people actually praising Dwayne McDuffie's death because he supposedly ruined the Ben 10 franchise for them. It's those kinds of people that make me wonder where humanity as a whole is going, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

I don't like it when I learn this sort of news; it's just too sad for words. What an awful time to lose a family member. My boss lost his wife recently too. And now this. :-(

I wish Dan Green and his children well.
