I kinda wanna look for some more items. Since non-combat stuff is what makes my egg hatch.

Can we just walk between Pewter and Mt. Moon like, 20 times?

Shouldn't Fafnir also get some EXP?
Anyway, alright, we can search for items. But no, I'm not going to do it for 20 turns straight.

Fafnir gained 200xp
Fafnir grew to level 10.

My apologies for missing that the first time.

Also, doing the same action or same couple of actions for the number of actions required to hatch the egg won't work. It'll hatch naturally as you progress through the game.

The team start to move off when Lone_Garurumon realises that Rio isn't following. The Aura Pokémon was staring off into the distance. As Lone_Garurumon made his way back to check on her, Rio took off down the dark hall and disappeared into the darkness.

You have activated Encounter Mode.

Walking Pokemon each have a chance to activate encounter mode. It is a rather small chance, in the low single digits... and can be triggered from any non-combat action.

What happens once a walking Pokemon has triggered encounter mode, is that they will become unresponsive, and will cancel out the action you have chosen.

You will be given a choice once encounter mode is activated, whether to follow your walking Pokemon and begin the encounter, or ignore them and continue with the action you have chosen. If you choose to ignore them, they will be unavailable for a short period of time, before returning to you.

So what is an encounter, you ask?

An encounter is a series of events, such as wild pokemon battles or trainer battles, based around a story event. They are generally rich in rewards, but also high in risk, as you can't flee from or end an encounter once you have began.

It depends on the encounter, but some encounters will completely heal your pokemon before and/or after the encounter (But not during)

If you wish to know more, feel free to ask questions.

What do you wish to do:
1) Follow Rio and begin the encounter.
2) Ignore Rio and continue your search for wild pokemon. (Rio will be unavailable for a bit)

I'm not gonna lie, I'm interested to see where this is gonna go. It'll probably be though, but what's life without a little risk, huh?

Also if we ignore her I'm going into this with one Pokemon. I know that this might be difficult but I honestly like my chances with this better than a wild battle with one Pokemon.

I say we follow her.

An encounter is a series of events, such as wild pokemon battles or trainer battles, based around a story event. They are generally rich in rewards, but also high in risk, as you can't flee from or end an encounter once you have began.
I just want to quickly clarify this.

It all depends on the encounter naturally, but it could be... say... 3 waves of wild pokemon, with a boss pokemon following (Think the totem trial from the first trial in Sun and Moon, for example)... or it could be 5 waves of trainer battles in a row (Think the nugget bridge from Gen 1 and 3)... Plus there could be other encounter types that fall outside these two examples.

But as I said, it's also rich in rewards. Each pokemon you defeat (assuming defeating is your goal) will net you the standard xp and fp rewards, plus each phase (or wave) of the encounter can net rare item rewards, TMs, HMs, you could be offered moves, pokemon, etc.

Some encounters may involved enemies getting stronger with each phase/wave, while others won't.

Encounter Mode is really the definition of risk vs reward, and I hope this allows you to make the best decision to go forward with.

EDIT Oh and yes, the capture system is fully operational and you may attempt to capture wild pokemon that you encounter, under the same rules as before... also under the normal rules, elite pokemon may appear.

Encounter begin. Your pokemon have been healed

As our heroes followed Rio, they could hear shouting. As the friends rounded the corner, they found a guy in a white lab coat and glasses backing up against a wall, holding two rather large looking fossils. He was surrounded by quite a few men and women. They were all wearing the exact same clothing. A dark shirt with a red letter R on the front. The guy in the white coat spotted our heroes.
"Hey! You there! Help me!"

One of the men turned around. "Hey, you don't belong here." He said.

Team Rocket Grunt wanted to battle.

Team Rocket Grunt sent out Zubat, Ekans and Sandshrew.
