(If this blog needs to be in a different place, feel free to move it. Thank you!)

For four months, I was busy with a Pokémon fangame. The titles are… Pokémon Ochre and Pokémon Jade!
Generation: 9 (for now)
Region: Meihua (Meihua = “plum blossom” in Chinese), based on China

Currently, no designs for the characters exist, if anyone’s willing to draw any for me (as I am a massive abomination to drawing lands), then thanks a bunch! (I used Google translate for a lot of the names) Branch evolutions are to be introduced, so keep an eye out for them!
Pokémon
Starters

Pandacao
Type: Grass (first two forms) Grass/Ground (final form)
Name: Small Panda Pokémon
Signature Move: Cobalt Quake

Evolves into:
  • Pandanboo (Lvl 16) (Panda+bamboo) (name: Panda Pokémon)
  • Pandanoble (lvl 36) (name: Panda+noble) (name: Crossing Pokémon)
Pandanoble has two different forms depending on its gender when it evolves. This one uses a bamboo stick as a weapon. It is bipedal.
Based on:
Ponyàn
Type: Fire (first two forms) Fire/Fighting (final form)
Name: Fire Pony Pokémon
Signature Move (final only): Vermillion Punch

Evolves into:
  • Firehoof (Lvl 16) (fire+hoof) (name: Flame Horse Pokémon)
  • Embersteed (lvl 36) (name: ember+steed) (name: Pounding Pokémon)
Its final evolves form wears bronze armor and a helmet due to it being a knightly Pokémon. It is a walk on four-legs Pokémon.
Based on:
  • Horse
  • Pounding (Wuxing, Chinese Martial Arts)
  • Fire (Chinese element)
  • Knights
Dragoshuî
Type: Water (first two forms), Water/Steel (final form)
Name: Water Dragon Pokémon
Signature Move (final only): Cobalt Drill

Evolves into:
  • Dragobalt (lvl 16) (Dragon+cobalt) (name: Water Dragon Pokémon)
  • Dragosteel (lvl 36) (name: dragon+steel) (name: Drilling Pokémon)
It uses a sword as a weapon. It is bipedal.
Based on:
  • Chinese Water Dragon
  • Drilling (Wuxing, Chinese Martial Arts)
  • Water (Chinese element)
  • Dragons
Towns
The towns are named after spices and scents, and Chinese cities
  • Kumin Town (PC home): cumin, Kunming
  • Guichive Town: chive, Guiyang
  • Choginger City/Choginger Forest: ginger, Chongquig
  • Fennelia Town/Heather mountain: Ching, fennel and heather
  • Korian City: coriander, Xi’an
  • Cardamom Tower: cardamom, the tower in Xi’an
  • Anise Town: anise, Taiyuan
  • Belmace: mace, Beijing
I even made a Pokédex for it! Lots of original Pokémon were put in along with evolutions to a lot of the evolved forms (in “two-lines”) and regional forms:
  • Fighting/Fire evolution for Pancham (this is based on red pandas)
  • Ground type Copperajah (inspiration: the Chinese elephants)
  • Fire/Ghost type Vulpix and Ninetales (its inspiration is Chinese foxes from myths)
  • A Psychic/Dark Gardevoir (inspiration is Chinese performers)
  • The entire Oddish/Gloom/Bellossom line changed to Dark/Grass (inspiration: the peony) and if you try to evolve a regular Gloom in this game, it’ll be Vileplume
  • Evolved forms of Sawsbuck depending on the seasons it evolved in (the design never changes depending on season):
    • Floramusk, Grass/Fairy (Fairy since Chinese spring blossoms, represents Spring)
    • Flamusk, Grass/Fire (Summer as it is associated with hot weather and Fire is hot)
    • Autumusk, Grass/Electric (Autumn, and Electric is yellow while autumn leaves can be yellow)
    • Icemusk, Grass/Ice (obviously)
  • Another Ekans evolution, Poison/Ground Arbok (based on Chinese cobras)
  • Two evolutions for Ambipom to turn into based on game (Franpom, Dark/Normal for Ochre; Phaypom, Grass/Normal for Jade); both are based on langurs
  • Regional form for Hoothoot and Noctowl (Rock/Flying, based on Chinese owls)
  • Another evolution for Paras: a regional Parasect (if evolved in a certain area, it’ll evolve into a Bug/Fairy Parasect and not a Bug/Grass Parasect); regional Parasect will evolve into Parashroom which is also Bug/Fairy
  • Legendaries: one exclusive to Ochre (this monkey king based Pokémon, a Fighting and Psychic type), one exclusive to Jade (snow leopard Pokémon, Ice and Psychic type), and with a trio master-like one that is based on a Chinese Dragon (which is a Water and Dragon type, but Dragon is its primary type and not related to the Water starter in anyway)
  • All Kanto, Alola and Unova starters make a return; starters that get regional forms are the Grass (Kanto), Fire (Unova), and Water (Alola) types
    • Venusaur becomes Grass/Rock (it’s likely based on rare frogs in China)
    • Emboar becomes Fire/Electric (may have something to do with Chinese elements??)
    • Primarina becomes Water/Ghost (it is based on Chinese opera singers)
  • The Turtwig evolutionary line and Ho-Oh return
The Gym Leaders, Elite Four, Champion, and a Battle Frontier have already been designed.
The entire Pokédex will be listed in a separate reply.
No clue what to do for the evil team. I’m not wanting to make it offensive or controversial

The names I picked for the protags and others are:
  • Yunshi (male) and Meili (female)
  • Jingshen Peony (male rival)
  • Professor Peony (father of Jingshen)
  • Binghua (Jingshen’s older sister; the Ice type Gym Leader, and is also a model)
  • Xiwang (female rival, Jingshen’s cousin, and the Champion who uses Fairy types)
If anyone would like to give suggestions, I’d be happy to get them! Thank you for reading!
Edit: Had to remove the spoiler tags since they weren’t working; also, I’m also making a whole soundtrack for these games, I don’t know how I’d be able to make the Pokémon sounds for it, sadly.
Another edit: I think I fixed the spoilers. Just in case you say something about the multityping (starters), I did not base any of it on the Sinnoh starters or make knockoffs. I only realized the Sinnoh starters are also based on the Chinese mythology last night rereading the Wikipedia page and realizing they were.
Another edit: The spoiler tags aren’t working at all, so I removed them.
Final edit for now: I remembered what the other part was
