Details of Pokémon GO monthly update for August 2021 announced

GoAugust2021.jpgNiantic has announced details of the monthly update for August 2021 in Pokémon GO. These events will take place between Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).

Research Breakthrough encounters
Chimecho can be encountered in Research Breakthrough encounters after completing seven days of Field Research tasks. You will also receive double the XP when you achieve a Research Breakthrough.

Pokémon Spotlight Hours
Taking place every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, these Pokémon and special bonuses will be featured:
  • August 3: Magnemite will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • August 10: East Sea Shellos will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
  • August 17: West Sea Shellos will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • August 24: A certain Pokémon will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.
  • August 31: A certain Pokémon will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
Featured Pokémon in raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in five-star raids in August:
  • Dialga will continue to appear until August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. If you're lucky, you might find a Shiny one.
  • Palkia will be appearing in five-star raids from August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to August 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. If you're lucky, you might find a Shiny one.
Which Pokémon will be appearing in five-star raids after August 20, 2021 will be announced at a later date.

Every Wednesday, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. The following Pokémon will be featured:
  • August 4: Dialga
  • August 11: Palkia
  • August 18: Palkia
  • August 25: ???
A bonus Raid Hour event will take place on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

In addition, the following Mega-Evolved Pokémon will be appearing in Mega Raids:
  • Mega Charizard X will continue to appear in Mega Raids until August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Mega Ampharos will appear from August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to August 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Mega Beedrill will appear from August 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to August 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Mega Pidgeot will appear from August 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to September 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Upcoming events
Several events are also announced for August. Stay tuned for details about these upcoming events.
  • Eevee Community Day will take place on August 14, 2021, and August 15, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time each day.
  • Ultra Unlock Part 1: Time will take place from July 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to August 3, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, where Pokémon from various eras will be appearing more often.
  • Ultra Unlock Part 2: Space will take place from August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to August 17, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, where Pokémon from various places will appear.
  • GO Battle Night: On August 26, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time, the third GO Battle Night of the season will be held. Complete up to 100 battles, and receive three times the Stardust for winning battles, completing sets of battles, and ranking up in the GO Battle League.
