Oops, all Zeros. I guess the key to getting out of my art block was just drawing the same character over and over? Who knew.
The wildest Zero design, no question. He has actual WINGS and CLAWS and that is crazy. (I see some Bass influence in this design and that's really cool too.) I could have made the pose more dynamic, but whatever. The details were enough of a challenge.
Tried a lighter subtler coloring style instead of my usual heavy painted shading and I think it turned out okay. I actually like drawing hands, it's a big challenge but it's so satisfying to finally get them right. (That said, I don't think I got Iris's hand right. Sorry Iris )
(+ bonus Axl doodles because I still like Axl better)
and some tangentially Pokémon-related stuff since I feel bad about not making much Pokémon art:
I actually haven't entirely figured out her name yet, Vi is more of a placeholder. Anyway, she's from the same story as Kit. She's an upperclassman and president of the academy's math club - despite appearances, she's mathematically skilled and is 100% the quintessential "uhmmm actually, according to my calculations" nerdy kid. She isn't the slightest bit edgy in personality or behavior. Vi is also a Fighting-type specialist, partly because she likes powerful mon who pack a punch and partly out of spite. It always bothers me that while type experts are usually fairly diverse in interests and characteristics, every Fighting user is some kind of athlete or body builder. Like, just because your Pokémon are physical fighters doesn't mean you have to be one, right?
I guess her main theme is unexpected contrasts, or how you can't always make assumptions about someone just from their appearance.
