So, ignoring the world recession right now, the monstrous costs to starting up businesses or getting the proper education for a good job, I'm sure we all have lofty dreams of what we want to do with our lives. I'm sure our older members have jobs as well or are currently finishing their studies in preparation for hitting the job market.

I myself work for my family business. We specialize in construction, electrical work, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, landscaping and we're even starting to branch out into car repairs (just have to wait for our state certifications to arrive in the mail) and interior design.

Ever since starting a family of my own I've mostly been stuck with the secretary work in the business. I get contracts signed, I set up job opportunities, I deal with the legal complications, I meet customers, etc. It's not something I really like doing, but it allows me to maintain a somewhat stable full time job (even if it is crappy) while being able to manage my parenting responsibilities.

I think my dream job would definitely be working as a CIA or FBI agent or even as secret service. I'd get to travel the world, work as a detective, sleuth around some nice and not so nice places and play a role in protecting the freedoms I personally take for granted right now. It'd give me a place to effectively put my patrioticness to work. I was studying to get the job for awhile, but money and family issues arose and I was forced to drop out of the classes.

So how about you guys? Got any big dreams, hopeful aspirations? Or do you have a job currently? Or are you currently in a college, university or trade skill apprenticeship program to get a job soon?

I want to be a novelist. I realized that in Junior High, and I've been trying to improve my skills as a writer so I can be the very best.

Outside of that, I think it'd be awesome to work for Google. Just imagining the things I could do with that job, not to mention all the ridiculous and incredible benefits they give...

I imagine that's an ambition many Bulbagarden members share. While I'd like to be a writer as well, I think I would prefer to specialise in non-fiction such as travel writing. In order to prepare myself for this, I've taken a lot of classes in writing while I've been studying at university and I've started keeping a blog as well (shamelessselfpromo). I also write for the university's student rag. I'll need to take another job to actually pay the bills while I get this career on the roll, and am considering journalism or teaching. However, I'd accept something lower-maintenance as well, which might give me more time to devote to my personal writing.

I currently work in the tourism industry (as a tour guide) and really enjoy it. The best parts of my job are (a) meeting people from all over the world and (b) getting paid to talk!

I'd like to be a well respected chef and a music critic on the side :p I studied business in college, but my heart isn't in it. Not anymore, whilst cooking and music are my real passions in life. I might go back to school and start a cooking course, I mean I can cook, but I need to learn as much as possible. Maybe I will when I'm more mentally fit for it.

I haven't narrowed it down entirely but ideally I'd love to work with drama, were it possible - playwriting, directing, acting or even as a dramatherapist, one day. I am well on my way toward starting either a standalone Drama or joint Drama/English Literature degree in September 2014, if all goes to plan, and that should involve at least one placement or practical project in the field to give me a chance to get started. The only other thing my heart is really set on is animal protection/control work, which is much more attainable and would still allow me to work creatively in my spare time, at least.

I'm currently a library tech, and I actually really enjoy my job. I get to work with people who aren't annoying (a plus), books (another BIG plus), and the work isn't too hard (More plus!).

Ideally, I'd like to be a script-writer for a comic book series or an anime.

I have two jobs right now: I do Materials Science research at a top university in America and work as a comedian in local/area venues. I like these jobs because one means I only have to think and I don't have to talk to people, and the other means I don't have to think and only have to talk to people.

My dream job? I'd like to branch out and do comedy full time or go into game development. Right now my group is talking about getting into the cruise business (performing for passengers) and that's pretty close to a dream job. You get to ride around and do everything the passengers do for free, free food, free entertainment, the pay is awesome, and you're only working for an hour or two per day.

My unrealistic dream job would be to work for pokemon. That's gotta be the best thing ever XD
My more realistically attainable dream job would be to be a wildlife technician/herpetologist. It'd be cool going to undisturbed places tagging turtles, sleeping in a hut, all that adventure stuff. As for now, I'm a high school student XP

I'd want to be a programmer, and not just writing games. Projects I work on give me something to do in my spare time, and fixing bugs are actually sort of enjoyable - because when you fix that last bug and the program runs exactly the way you want it to, you get an immense feeling of satisfaction. At least, I do!

My dream is to become a professional musician and television actor. As Disney is known to hire even mediocre talent for their sitcoms, they seem to be my best bet for realizing this dream.

As it stands, my current job option is stocking at the local grocery store. Just to provide some source of income before I head off to college.

I'm a student, so I don't technically have a job right now. However, my goals...

There are really two categories to my dreams. My first is to be a prominent scientist, specializing in biotechnology and genetics while working at a lab. My second goal is to be a game designer. I'm not talking Pokemon (although I wouldn't say no if offered), I'm talking the next Mass Effect, Halo or Skyrim. Writing the complex, multi-faceted stories you need for these kinds of games. Ideally? I'd do both.

I'm still in High School, so I haven't had a job yet, but I most certainly have a goal.

I'm aiming for being an author. I've had this in my sights since I was about six or seven, and I've never lost faith in it once. I reckon I've got a good chance, my writing isn't too terrible and my grades are relatively fine in all subjects except maths and P,E, skills I won't really require when being an author (maths may be an exception for that, if I never get an accountant). Once I leave High School I plan to study literature in university; and then hopefully I'll have everything I need and be well on my way. I have it all planned out, and I don't really have a back-up plan if it fails. However if I never do get to be an author, then my second choice is a photographer. A bit of a leap. xP

All I know is that I want to do something in entertainment. It's the only thing I both enjoy and feel like I'm halfway decent at. I don't know if I want to be a screen writer, author, playwright, video game developer, or what. I have ideas that I feel would be best told in all of these different medias. Hopefully I get to do all of them. :B

You guys have some pretty cool goals! Sounds like there are much more creative people here than I lol.

I'm just about done with my schooling to become an aircraft mechanic, next week I will have completed my hours to be eligible to take the tests to get my first two licenses (airframe and general) and I will have my third and final license (power plant.. For now) a little after August.

My dream job would be to run my own small business repairing or modifying general aviation. Although I would much rather work on cars and trucks, the money isn't there when compared to aviation.

I am unfortunately unemployed at the moment, but I had a job in a Sears store where I worked in the clothing department as a Merchandice and Customer assistant. It was a difficult and stressful job and I really didnt have the capabilities of doing the job how they really wanted it to be done and fast enough.

As for my dream job? I would love to do something where I work with animals. Im not exactly sure what, but I considered pursuing becoming a Veterinary Assistant. Im sure that's not the only thing I could do but I don't know exactly what else is out there for people that want to work with animals that dosent require years and years of study.

I'm currently unemployed, but as a option of mine, since I'm getting a double major in Visual Arts and History.

I was a kindergarden teacher for three years. I definitely want to stay a teacher, but I prefer preteens and teens better than little kids.
To be quite honest, I started out just hating the idea of teaching; I've never had any inspiring teacher during my school life. I was there for the money (little money, but I thought it was a easy job - it isn't).
But them I noticed I was good at this and I've had the most loving students I could imagine. I know I'm on the right path.

I'm currently a grad student working on my second MA in Writing. I have my BA and another MA in Journalism. My dream job is either teaching at the higher ed level or working for a company/ news outlet that deals with nerdy things.

This summer will be my third year working at a minor league baseball stadium. I usually run carnival games and give out prizes or take tickets at the entrances.
