I heard that Sun and Moon is the weakest of the core series. Do you think that they critically and financially failed?

In my opinion, they were the second best, and they were the ones that brought me back into the games after XY almost made me quit (mostly due to feeling "been there, done that"), and financially I don't think so since they sold more or less the same as previous gens.I heard that Sun and Moon is the weakest of the core series. That's subjective
It had its moments, but they were often months and even years apart - the entire second year was a waste and everything related to the games was basically completely disconnected from the rest of the anime
Heck, they even rebooted the series in the third year by reintroducing how Z-Moves worked and suddenly started giving everyone pokemon for the sole purpose of using them in the league
It had a little bit of everything for everybody, but pleased no one
The Ultra versions did some things better and has higher difficulty, but it screwed the whole Aether thing.granted though I have the Ultra version rather than the vanilla one so I wouldn't know if it's any better than the original.
If you wanted the anime to advertise the newest generation, it failed spectacularly by not even trying to do soI'm so confused as to what this post is about?

They didn't fall much considering they sold around the 16 million mark, the same as almost all other first versions (GS and RB being the exceptions).gyms, anime ... without battles the sales fall...
I'm pretty sure they weren't a financial failure, nor were they really a failure among critics. Nevertheless, they remain my least favorite games in the series (Sword/Shield should really be, but I already knew what to expect from them, Sun/Moon came out when the series had higher standards).
Also I don't trust critics because we never know if they are being honest and truthful or paid by Nintendo. They gave good scores to bad games like Sword, Shield, XY, etc.
