I used to not bother. Even with the first 150, that was a lot of work. And then there were version exclusives and event-only Pokemon that I didn't have the access to get so I just didn't bother at all.

Well, Gen IV rolls around with the introduction of the GTS and wireless encryption that doesn't support the DS. Regardless, this is the first time I've got several friends I know in-person so I decide to embark on the Pokedex journey - I replay Fire Red three times, Emerald twice, Pearl twice and do a bit of trading with my friends. I still fall short by about 20, but that run in Diamond was so very close. With a quick bridge between the generations and a system that supports different encryption types, I actually complete my Pokedex in Black. Of course, I'm too lazy to trade over 600+ Pokemon to Black 2 when we get an actual reward for Pokedex completion...

I try, but it's not a priority. I prefer to focus on collecting/training only my favorites. Beyond that, dex-filling is more of a time killer I pick up when I've run out of other things to do.
