Does anyone else create regions in his head like I do?

OK, I might be in the minority here, but here goes -

I create fictional regions in my head. Like complete with entire routes, features, Gym Leaders, and Elite Four.

I can't draw for nuts, if not I would be creating them for real. (more of a Writer here).

if you guys remember the card set Aquapolis, I recently rediscovered my collection from that set, and went about creating the entire region of Aquapolis in my head when I was in public transport or when I was bored.

Basically, a huge region full of water, with ONE Mainland. Think Hoenn but with a LOT less land to work with, with many different Islands. Players get to start with any of the 5 Water-type starters of their choice. Lots of Water Pokemon (from all five Gens) to be caught, and only a small minority of other-type Pokemon on the mainland. Few Grass-types and Electric-types available. (maybe the occasional rare Pikachu and Shroomish)

Gym Leaders include:

<b> 3rd Gym Leader </b>
Dralia: Mysterious woman formerly from the Hoenn region
Location: Drastic Island, a mysterious island known for its dark foreboding hills and rumors of disasters
Pokemon: Horsea (24), Gyarados (25), Seadra (26)

<b> 4th Gym Leader </b>
Takei: Sea Plane pilot and INSANELY rich man
Location: Domini, an entire island he bought for himself and his friends and family. Everyone there loves him (or is it because he bought them off?) and knows him, and he renamed the island from an old name in the Aquapolis mythology.
Pokemon: Mantine (28), Pelipper (29), Swanna (30)

<b> 5th Gym Leader </b>
Harley: Geologist, tall brown-skinned woman
Location: Crustland, a giant rock in the ocean shaped like the shell of a Crustle.
Pokemon: Corsola (38), Kabutops (39), Omastar (39), Relicanth (40)

<b> 6th Gym Leader </b>
Sandy: Avid triathlete, muscular guy
Location: Soft Shell Island, a resort island with magnificent miles and miles of beaches and a small town smack in the middle.
Pokemon: Gastrodon (41), Quagsire (42), Whiscash (42), Seismitoad (43)

<b> 7th Gym Leader </b>
Bernice: Candice's sister, explorer, Ice-type extraordinare, with fair skin and also a penchant for wearing sweaters
Location: Icefelt Island, a beautiful island covered with glaciers and ice crystals.
Pokemon: Dewgong (45), Cloyster (45), Lapras (46), Walrein (48)

<b> 8th Gym Leader </b>
Sykes: The mayor of Rinco Island who also runs a Mysteries of the Deep Seas research center, has a funny mustache
Location: Rinco Island, a floating island in the sky (think Gulliver's Travels) which is mysteriously suspended by unknown energies
Pokemon: Jellicent (47), Slowbro (49), Slowking (49), Jellicent (50), Starmie (52)

If you get the gist basically they all use multitypes of Water Pokemon, since there are so many and there are a lot of type hybrids to choose from.

This might be bordering fan fiction but it's not technically fiction I think? Anyway I have no idea where to put this. Also, I might continue sharing Aquapolis creations in the future too!

Who else does this? Share some of your fun fictional regions on this thread!

I made my own, but it's more of an island, it's called Endo Island. The whole thing is a tournament were only those that are considered Champions my enter. It involves battling a opponent and win, then battle the other winner. There is one last opponent when you win the regular tournament, the Pokémon Champion of Champions. These are his stats/Pokémon.

Name: Kyle
Home: New Bark Town
Items: 2 Max Revives, 3 Full Restores
Description: A mysterious young adult who loves his Pokémon. His battle-style is somehow brutal when you get past his kind face. His dad owns Endo Island and hosts the tournaments held there.
Pokémon:
Signature: Feraligatr lv 100
2nd: Gengar lv 97 (Sent out first)
3rd: Alakazam lv 94
4th: Charizard lv 99
5th: Golem lv 93
6th: Mamoswine lv 98
In the forest area, you can catch many rare Pokémon from the Kanto and Johto region. Fishing docks tend to usually hold fishing tournaments that are widely known in many regions, especially Kanto. And finally there is a race course for Pokémon racers to ride their fastest Pokémon to their wildest dreams! All these side events are only held to those who won at 10 contests. There is a small housing area where many Champions reside, but as well as those who can afford the houses as well.
Well, there is my "Region". I have tried making the Endo Region where the main story would start at, but honestly I keep on forgetting about it and/or tossing it out (cause I actually draw it a little bit (like GBA maps)).

I've had two, both are inspired from real world regions.
One is based on the Southeast Asia where I'm from and the other is based
on the Midwest US where I currently live.

I kind of assigned wild pokemon locations to my hometown in the midwest, but beyond that I haven't looked to real world locations much. I imagined my mom as some kind of formerly great pokemon trainer because we had a whole bunch of rare "tangela" bushes in front of the house that she had captured lol

Yes, I have one I might set a fic in where the cities are all based in famous real-world cities. I've also thought about which pokémon would live where in the real world. It's fun.

Yes, but I'm still working on it.
Haven't named the region, but I call them Topaz and Amethyst versions.

I created 8 gym leaders, an Elite Four, and a Champion, complete with bios, descriptions of their room, and relationships. I'm planning on creating a team. I haven't come up with names for the games or region yet, though.

I have 172 Pokémon (the vast majority of which are plagiarized) and 8 Gym Leaders, as well as a map of Rushu. I call the games Pokémon Q and T Versions. They have their own mascots and a currently incomplete Elite Four and Champion.

I have a region in my mind that my boyfriend and I are going to try to make a game out of. But because of that, I can't share details :p

Before the Sinnoh region was a thing (way back in, like, 2002), I created a cold region in one of my fanfics with a Fire-type panther cub as my starter.

Now I'm thinking of a region based on Aztec and Mayan lore. While they share similiarities, they are very different cultures that could open a slew of ideas when incorporated into the Pokemon world. =) The starters would be based on a jaguar (grass), an eagle fledgling (fire), and a crocodile (water). A lot of the Pokemon would be based on what is found in the Mayan and Aztec calendars (the two share a lot of similarities with some variations).

Secretly hoping Game Freak makes this an actual thing. I can dream.

Of course, just like you envision yourself to be a pokemon trainer/someone living in the pokemon world with your own pokemon team, at some point, you have a tendency to create a made-up region with its own towns, gym leaders, pokedex, lore etc. I still imagine these kinds of things whenever I have loads of free time (not so common now).

I don't have a name for it but I have thought of stuff for a new region like a city that is a giant amusement park like the Golden Saucer from Final Fantasy 7, an underground cave filled with rivers of lava that you cross by jumping on rocks, a gothic city that is always shrouded in dark clouds (would be a great place for a dark gym) with very old timely buildings and a beach town with lots of surfing diving and other activities,

I wrote a Pokémon fanseries years ago which was set in a region called Eurora; despite the name, it was actually based on Australia. There was the usual routine of battling Gym Leaders to earn badges and, eventually, take part in the Eurora League Tournament.

However, there was a twist in the formula of the Eurora League: you could register solo OR as part of a larger group, and the number of Badges required for entry depended on how many registered Trainers were in your travelling group; you could continue to add group members, up to a maximum of four, until one member earns their first Gym Badge.

Being a larger region, Eurora boasts 16 Gyms instead of the usual 8, and a lone Trainer can earn any of the eight Badges to qualify. If more than one Trainer is registered as a group, the number of Badges needed to compete changes: a group of two needs all 16, split evenly between both Trainers; a group of three sees each member earn 5 unique Badges, with the 16th earned in a group Triple Tag Battle; and a group of four sees each member earn their own 3 unique Badges, with the remaining four earned in Tag Battles. Groups who are registered in the Tournament compete as a team, and any victories go towards the team's total during the Swiss rounds. After that is four different tournament events: Singles, Doubles, Triples and Mixed. Singles is a straightforward single-elimination style tournament featuring the Top 32 solo Trainers; Doubles is also single-elimination, with the Top 16 pairs competing in Tag Battles; and Triples is single-elimination in which the Top 8 teams of three compete in Triple Tag Battles. The winning team of each event chooses a member to represent them in the Eurora League's closing tournament, the Grand Event

The fourth event, the Mixed event, sees the Top 5 teams of four continue to participate in Swiss-style rounds, earning points for their respective teams. At the end of those rounds, the two teams who scored the most points move to a Top 8 single-elimination Singles mini-tourney; this is to decide who will be the representative for the Grand Event.

In the Grand Event, the four representatives of each division compete in a single-elimination Singles mini-tourney, with no switching of party Pokémon between rounds and no substitutions allowed during a battle. These four Trainers are ranked according to their places: S, A, B and C. Those ranked A through C are placed on the short-list for possibly becoming Gym Leaders. The S-ranked Trainer has a choice: they may automatically become a Gym Leader, or they may face the Elite Four in any order they choose; should they defeat each member, they may then face the Champion and challenge them for their title. If the Trainer defeats the Champion, then they are officially registered in the Hall of Fame and take the Champion's title; if the battle ends in a draw, then the winner is determined by the flip of a coin. If heads, the Trainer is now the Champion. Regardless of whether the Trainer defeats the Elite Four and Champion or not, they forfeit their chance of automatically becoming a Gym Leader, and must go through the usual means of application if they then wish to do so.

There are actually two "evil teams" in the Eurora Region, although one of them isn't actually evil, but is instead good. This secretive team is called Team Aurora, and consists of members who possess the genetic coding of Pokémon within their DNA. Such individuals are attributed to two of the elemental types of Pokémon, and they can use special "Chroma Balls" to catch Pokémon of one of those two types; in doing so, that Pokémon gains the other type as its secondary, such as a Spheal becoming Ice/Electric if an Aurora "Grunt" of those two types catches one with a Chroma Ball. The purpose of Team Aurora is to protect Eurora and its people and Pokémon from the evil Team Shadow, and they use their Aurora Pokémon as partners in thwarting them.

Team Shadow is an organisation which seeks to corrupt Pokémon and humans alike, twisting them into darker versions of themselves. Pokémon are turned evil by using technology, whereas humans are brainwashed into grunts through sinister "sleep-torture" methods designed to bend those peoples' view of reality to that of Team Shadow. Some grunts are converted into weird beings known simply as "Noctroids", who are intimidating in both appearance and action. Noctroids are born when an unconscious human is implanted with, and converted by, a pseudo-digital entity often nicknamed the "Missingnorus", though it is nothing like any life-form of this reality. Once the body is fully converted, the entity takes control of the host body, keeping their consciousness suppressed.

Noctroids never need to eat or sleep, they never age or get sick, and they have a few powers as well, such as being able to conceal their identities and appear as ordinary humans. They do, however, have a couple of major drawbacks. Noctroids need to wear specialised breathing equipment at all times, as ordinary air acts as a sleep-inducing agent to them, rendering them helpless. Noctroids, as well as beings like them, actually possess the ability to remove the entity from another Noctroid, and Team Aurora has access to technology which performs this function; if this is done, the entity becomes exposed to the atmosphere and turns into a crystalline form, shattering into fragments and being destroyed. A freed Noctroid regains their true consciousness, but retains their converted form, along with the associated benefits, drawbacks and abilities.

There is another kind of entity which is almost identical to the Missingnorus, though it doesn't take control of its host body, but rather sort of "hybridises" with them, usually taking a back seat as the host keeps full control over their own body. This entity is actually rather noble, bringing out the best qualities of its host, though they show no mercy for the Noctroids. For the most part, the host is aware of their identity, remaining much like their former selves, though any negative traits they once had are less obvious: a once-selfish person is slightly more generous, and a foul-mouthed individual uses a slightly-softer vocabulary. These counterparts to the Noctroids call themselves "Photroids", and otherwise possess the same benefits, drawbacks and abilities. Their biggest flaw is their near-non-existent compassion for Noctroids: if it encounters one, a Photroid will temporarily take control of its host body, and won't stop until the entity within a Noctroid is purged and the host freed, even if it itself is eliminated in a moment of reckless self-sacrifice. Noctroid and Photroid hosts who no longer contain their entity are completely immune to either form, so if a Noctroid manages to defeat a Photroid, it will often remove the host's breathing equipment, with Team Shadow keeping them as an eternally-unconscious prisoner.

I apologise for the wall of text. I just wanted to explain in detail everything I had worked out for the Eurora Region. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading it. :)

I don't like creating regions per se, since making up fake regions (with names with little to no meaning) is as pointless as making "fakemon." At that point, it's not really Pokémon.

I do, however, like envisioning what places that aren't explored in the main series games look like (most notably, Holon).

Here's a rudimentary list of what types, abilities, and learnsets I thought Delta Pokémon should have in the 4th-Gen games.

I have a whole region I created for a fanfic that I really ought to dabble back into at some point.

We're about in the same boat then. I have created at least two regions, plus a whole-world geography in which the canon regions are also placed. I'm in the process of starting a fanverse from all of this, so long as I can get some art of the regions done since I' can't draw shit. So maybe with a tiled map editor or something, like in the Gen3 games...

Anyway, the name of the region is Suocé and is largely based off the Southamerican Cone (ie.: everything south of Brazil). It has all the usual stuff that comes with the territory, such as a set of 12 Gyms (Steel, Psychic, Grass, Ground and Electric are som of the types involved; owing to tradition so far, there's no Dark type Gym), a bicycle road, trains, a tunnel road, random towns here and there and the mandatory post-game landmarks such as a Battle Tower in the making.

The Gyms usually run the standard battles, but for trainers going for rematches or badge re-validation, the battle also involves some sort of puzzle active during the time of the battle; for example rematching the Grass type gym makes use of the gym room's infrastructure, built as a crystal shaft inside a commercial building, to either reflectsunlight into it or away from it, meaning the Pokémon there work in a simulated and evolving "sunny" / "cloudy" weather condition, and part of the challenge is snatching control of the weather simulation device from the Gym Leader's Pokémon.

The Elite Four don't have chambers per se, as they roam across the region, but for an arranged challenge they can just use any of the various hardened facilities across the country, such as the storage chambers or transmission units for some of the scientific research or military facilities in the area. They are also not type specialist like in other regions but strategy specialists, for example one of them specializes in urban warfare, and the other in tactical information gathering, using a team designed to force the opponent to reveal their moves and abilities. Basically these are places designed for fights to go all out.

I don't like creating regions per se, since making up fake regions (with names with little to no meaning) is as pointless as making "fakemon." At that point, it's not really Pokémon.
In my opinion, au contraire mon cheri. 3/4ths of the entire point of Pokémon, from a creative perspective, is that there's so little delivered to us that we can fill in the blanks however we think of (provided it makes some sense). There's the Pokémon themselves, the concept that humans train them and... more or less that's it. It's by and large one of the widest and more open platforms for fanfiction, and it's hard to lose track of the core elements. (Hence, I do think that considering "fanon regions" is largely different than considering "fanon Pokémon"; for one, there's already lots of hints to regions in canon that are not shown, even more considering the cross canons)

By "at that point, it's not really Pokémon," I mostly meant that in regards for when people invent "fakemon"; for what it's worth, regions with meaningless names aren't as dire an offense (although regions with names that do mean something are better).
