An argument against the "there is a dub" theory is that when Beauty and the Beach was aired during the Orange Islands, it used the voice cast from that time and not the one it would have used had it been dubbed around its original position.

What do you mean? What voice cast did it use?

Forget who said it but I heard a lot of those text edits (where been the English was blanked) starting with Yugioh were done at Kids’ WB’s behest, who earnestly believed kids would get bored if there was too much on-screen text, and this was just a practice that carried on through all of their dubs. Whoever it was though, it’s pretty obvious someone in charge had some pretty odd ideas about what kids could or couldn’t handle in their cartoons that flew in the face of any basic common sense.

If you're referring to the duel monsters card I'm 99.9 sure that was done to avoid being accused of "in show advertising" by the FCC wiping the text and expanding the size of the picture on the card makes them look less like the actual trading cards.

The Yu-Gi-Oh movie wasn't beholden to fcc regulations so text appears on the cards there.

What do you mean? What voice cast did it use?

Beauty and the Beach was dubbed while they were dubbing the Orange Islands, so Maddie Blaustein voiced Meowth instead of Nathan Price. There's also Veronica Taylor using her higher pitched voice for Ash rather than the deeper one she was using in early Kanto.

Who knows exactly cause one comic con has Eric Stuart saying the cards are blank so they don't confuse international audiences so they made all the cards look generic without text. Remember the dub still kept a scene of yugioh and co opening booster packs.

Yeah but much like the Pokemon erases english to make things easier on international dubs that excuse really doesn't track.

Why would international audiences be confused or care about english text being on-screen? If it was for their benefit why is there text on the cards in the movie?

Yes they opened booster packs but it was the same altered cards that always show up in the dub so it probably falls under a legal loophole.

You're right, the cards were most likely blanked as a separate issue related to the FCC/advertising rule, but Yugioh was also the first 4Kids dub that really started the "erase ALL text, including English" silliness, like the Toon World card itself having the text "Toon World" blanked:

I know there are instances in Pokemon of 4Kids wiping English text, but at least in those early seasons it seemed like they only went out of their way to edit away or translate Japanese text while leaving the English text intact. There's even times when they would correct the English text that was present in the Japanese version, like "Pockemon" being changed to "Pokemon" in the Island of Giant Pokemon episode when it probably would have been easier to just erase it entirely.

It was bizzare Racheal Lillis didn't return for Pilika in the shaman king reboot.

I agree, especially since they have Lillis doing the Hunter x Hunter dub for Bang Zoom in the same area, was odd (believe it or not, to keep it back to Pokemon relevance here, they still also use her iconic voice through archival footage for Jigglypuff in the Movie Detective Pikachu to this day & also in the Smash games- trivia for everyone here).

On that note, looking forward to seeing the reviews for EP098 & 99 in the dub, apparently another roller-coaster ride coming.

Her last voice role was movie (Last Mission) that was dubbed four years ago (2019) so she doesn't do any new roles ever since hence her inactively lately as well replacement in Shaman King reboot and even third Fate movie.

People misrepresented the whole 4kids erase all text, it's in varying degrees.
