I'm almost ready to start on "Pokemon: Magic of a Melody". Before I do, I have a question...

The first episode ends with Ash being attacked by a Scyther and getting badly wounded, which leads to Episode 2 beginning with his waking up in Brock's house. I'm wondering if it would make more sense to put the Scyther attack in Episode 2 instead of the tail end of Episode 1.

On the one hand, leaving it at the end of Episode 1 would make a nice cliffhanger and give a bit of oomph to what is otherwise exposition and a little character development. On the other hand, it would start Episode 2 with a bang after the initial set up.

So which would work better?

I say, start it with a bang. Personally, I believe that cliffhangers are getting a bit old. But, that's just me. ^^

I'm partial to your existing option myself. Starting the episode off with a scene that leads to a very large scene break just doesn't make much sense.

i would say you have a great idea. If the cliffhanger is placed in the right spot, or if there is a spot for a cliffhanger, i say go for it. Most likely it would be best when Ash is knocked out.

Maybe you could have Ash be his stubborn self and try to continue, but gets ambushed not far from Brock's.
