Extra Content and Sidequests

I have very mixed feelings about the gameplay in Legends. I've wanted Game Freak to branch out for over a decade, but I don't care about completing the Pokedex (it was fun in LGPE after almost two decades of not bothering, but I've had enough). If this game were like Snap then observing Pokemon for research would work, but here you just study their movements. It's clear that there's only one village unless there's an older civilization waiting to be discovered. I guess building new settlements throughout the story is an option?

The boss fights could be solid (probably nothing too different than Totems and Max Raids, though), but I have doubts about all the rest. Also, the story desperately needs to be as different from DPPt's as possible.

Perhaps completing the podex is secondary to figuring out the mysteries of Arceus.

Arceus is probably the last boss fight, and the Pokedex goal is independent of that (although they could certainly require Pokedex progress for a certain point in the story). Still, the first trailer was solely about wild Pokemon and moving around. You are not going to figure out mysteries (i.e. collect Plates if we're being honest) most of the time.

Potential extra contents/sidequests:
- Deciphering Unown codes/puzzles (possibly capturing all 28)
- Chasing after roaming legendaries
- Early version of berry farming/honey tree management
- Delivery quests
- Escorts
- Something similar to Amie/Refresh/Camping or a Ranch

I think completing the first Sinnoh Pokédex will involve much more story-involved elements than past games. Think of the Crown Tundra... the entirety of that area was exploring the local legendary stories (besides the Dynamax adventure). Doing stuff like that will be a requirement for completing the Sinnoh Pokédex goal, and hopefully the quests involved for unlocking the legendaries will be more developed since it is main game stuff.

Discuss Zelda elsewhere, please.

As for sidequests, I’m hoping for one where you collect the 17 Plates. Maybe go through some trials to get each one and then fight the respective Arceus form each time leading up to the final battle against Normal Arceus.

It would also be really cool if Curse Form Arceus made a return, though I doubt it would.

This... is actually a fantastic idea. Curse-type Arceus making an appearance as an official typeless type with no weaknesses or resistances both offensively and defensively, at all, and maybe altering the move Judgment in some sort of way would be a really cool design for the so-called “God of Pokémon”.

I also love the idea of collecting plates being an integral part of the Arceus storyline.

The inclusion and expansion of the Sinjoh Ruins seems like a no-brainer has been mentioned a lot, but I haven’t seen a single person mention another similar location, the Cave of Being in the Unova region. It’s not explicitly stated to have a direct connection to Sinnoh but it is said that the deepest part of the cave leads to the Sinnoh region. Just like the Sinjoh Ruins have ties to Arceus, the Cave of Being has ties to the lake trio, and both locations are at least implied to possibly have a physical connection to the Sinnoh region that would allow for a way of travel, although this cave isn’t confirmed to allow for that like the Sinjoh Ruins are.

Also, it’s time to give Arceus all his types, maybe with the Curse/???-type. Lockstin did a video on this a couple years back. In short, Arceus would have eight immunities and only two 2x weaknesses to Rock and Fairy. He’d be really strong.

Someone suggested to me that we might need to make Pokéballs ourselves from Apricorn (or something similar), and that's kinda make sense. Not sure if it could be considered a side quest though.

I love this idea. Thinking about it, you usually buy Pokéballs with money you get from trainer battles. I don’t see the culture of trainer battles and getting money from them being a thing here. So having to craft them seems likely, and creates an interesting challenge for the goal of creating the Pokédex.
