Obsolete: Fanfic Rules 2009 Edition--Updated May 23rd

Why is telling someone to leave your fanfic alone worthy of an infraction without even giving a warning first?

Because you can't dictate who reads your story, as you would know if you paid attention around here. Unfortunately, all you're interested in is writing gay porn and kneejerkily accusing anyone who has the slightest problem with your story of being homophobic, so you must have missed that part.

Unfortunately, all you're interested in is writing gay porn

That's so not true, there is only one gay scene in the whole fanfic, and it only lasts for a paragraph. And yes, I thought they were being homophobic, I only asked one person if they were homophobic, so how can that be a kneejerk to everyone?

You thought they were being homophobic even though they'd said nothing to indicate they were. Your fic is shitty. It would still be shitty if it was Ash/Misty. The end.

Can you please stop calling my work shitty? It's not very nice. I am trying my best, and I am trying to improve it, I am using all the critisism I receive to make it better, and a user called Leeney Girl even sent me a visitor message saying you were being too harsh. Please, its my first fanfiction, and I really need the help, and constructive critisism, not a simple

"Your fic is shitty. It would still be shitty if it was Ash/Misty. The end."

Thats not how you should speak to someone. You don't offer any advice on how to improve it, you just throw abuse, so please can you stop this. I am genuinely trying to make it better.

Are you allowed to post non-pokemon fanfics?

-All stories (including non-pokémon and NC-17 stories) are welcome in the Writers' Workshop, as are any discussion related to books, reading or writing. However, non-story threads must be marked as (discussion) or have that information somewhere in the first sentence of the post so mouseovers can read it.

That said, this is a Pokemon-centric website so your potential audience is significantly smaller than it might be on a more general fanfic site. Not meant to be a discouragement, but something to keep in mind.

I’m concerned about plagiarism in my question.
Firstly, Am I allowed to post a fan fiction in another language (which I’ll call Lang A) than English? (Lang B)

Secondly, Language A is closely related to another (Lang C). I’m bilingual in Lang A and C.
If my work is plagiarized and put into Language C, and the plagiarizer claims my work as his own because he/she JUST WROTE IT IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE (Lang C), what can I do to prevent this?

Hi. I know I haven't shown my face here for a while, but meh.

If I posted a few chapters of my story on a thread a couple of months ago, forgot about the thread, and kept writing/posting the story on other websites, would I be allowed to go back to my three-month-old thread on BMGf and continue the story?

As long as you're are posting a new chapter, yes. You are reviving the thread but contributing to it so it's perfectly fine. Oh, and double spoting isn't a problem when you're posting a new chap either.

Can we post non-continuous stories, even if it's just a single short story, to try and get feedback, etc.?

Also, does it have to be a fanfic or can it be an original story?

Both one-shot and original stories are accepted. An original story might not get the amount of feedback a Pokemon one would get, tho.

Lets just say I post a chapter. Then 4 days later I say my next chapter will be posted later today. Is that a double post. The JaberWocky is trying to ifract me for it.

I believe that the rule is that if you post a chapter then at a later date, you post the new chapter but it has no comments in between, it is not a double post. However, if you just say that it will be posted later, it is indeed a double post.

I put up a thread that discusses problems in the Workshop and how to solve them, a user told me this was against the rules.
The thread is not for Trolling or Flaming of any kind, rather simply a discussion about problems and fixing them, so I would like to know if this really is against the rules.
I would appreaciate an answer, thanks!

Cool, I'm glad I read through this then. I didn't see it posted anywhere in the OP, and I was about to ask about it.

If I'm reading the rules right, it's not against the rules so long as it's a topic actually discussing fan-fiction or literature in general, and you've reasonably identified it as a Discussion thread in either the title, or the first sentence of the thread.

Please note: The thread is from 13 years ago.
Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
