I actually chose Fennekin as my favorite starter overall simply because it's a fire fox, and I can use it when Vulpix isn't available in games.

Never expected Fennekin to be my most favorite starter.
Back during the 5th gen, didn't like any kind of canines (including foxes) so when the 3 starters got introduced, didn't liked it at first - but somewhere along the way, I started to like foxes.
The cuteness of Fennekin and foxes in general really made me love.
So far no other starter will take it's cuteness place

Funny that during the 5th gen, I said something similar about Oshawott
'No other starter will take Oshy's place'
I'm guessing one of the future 7th gen starters will take Fennekin's place.

Kanto: Charmander --> for MCY, loved it's design
Johto: Cyndaquil --> it's part weasel, so main reason for me liking it
Hoenn: Mudkip --> not really a fan of the Hoenn starters, but Swamper's mega caught my attention
Sinnoh: Chimchar --> Infernape is awesome, slowly started to like Chimchar
Unoa: Oshawott --> sea otter - that's all the reason I need to like it
Kalos: Fennekin --> no surprise there! blame it on the cuteness of foxes

It's a tie between Squirtle and Cyndaquil, I really love both of them. :3

Pikachu was used as a starter in Pokemon Yellow. The thread is treating starters as any Pokemon that you receive at the beginning of a main series game as your first Pokemon.
