While I generally agree with the counterarguments, I find it offensive that it makes broad generalizations of adult Pokémon fans especially when I see a lot of complaints coming from the younger audiences as well (i.e., those that entered in Gen III or IV). There's also the fact that it completely ignores that it has a multiple demographic appeal

Or that it ignores that the Pokemon equivalent of the hard core crowd, being competitive battlers, are often more receptive to new Pokemon because of their battling abilities compared to the nonhardcore, yet older fanbase. Yeah, there's also those fans who won't use some Pokemon merely because of their design, but that's basically most of the fandom.

And how would someone feel if this actually happened to them?
If someone actually lost their mother and came across this comic, would they be laughing? I doubt it..
