Speculation Gen 9 Predictions (Development predictions, New Regions, Version names)

We could always go back to colors and gems.

Orange and Purple
Topaz and Jade

I know a lot of fan games have adopted similar naming styles but Nintendo has their lawyers at the ready.

Oh boy this train of thought sounds fun let me hop on.

Pokemon Odd and Even (joke answer)

Pokemon Paper and Plastic (another joke answer)

Pokemon Sound and Silence (my favorite)

Pokemon Wood (or Stone) and Steel

Pokemon Betwixt and Between (semi joke answer)

Pokemon Magic and Science

Pokemon Fang and Claw

Pokemon Static and Active

Pokemon Shine and Shadow

Pokemon Fact and Fiction

I could probably think up more. This is entertaining.

The wierd thing about version names is that while they're very literal, they've never been about simplistic concepts. X and Y weren't refering to letters, they were refering to axis. There's always been a degree of loaded language to the titles, not just simplistic concepts.

Hence, I thoroughly believe that Apex and Nadir are viable names.

Except they're not common English words, so they're really not.

No, they are simplistic concepts. Red and Blue, Black and White, Sun and Moon, Sword and Shield, etc., kids understand what these words mean. Hence they're simplistic concepts. They have deeper, more symbolic meanings behind them, but on a surface level they are simplistic concepts that are easy for a kid to understand. The same cannot be said for Apex and Nadir. Even the surface level meaning of Apex and Nadir is too complicated for kids to understand, those are words you'll probably never hear until at least like, middle school or high school (hell even as an adult I've rarely heard anyone use the word "nadir"). If it's something you're more likely to see on an SAT test than a 1st grade picture book, it's not a good choice for a game name.
