Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I actually like the new Pokemon introduced so far. Most of them have decent to great design that appeal to me. I think that Litleo is still my favorite with Heliopitle as a close second. Litleo is just too adorable and Heliopitle is cute too. All of the starters are terrific and it will be difficult to decide what to use in Y, even though I plan on using Fennekin in X. Sylveon has really grown on me as well.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Indicated by the Pokemon Smash footage, Sylveon can have 155 HP at level 50. Assuming it has no IVs or EVs since the Hydreigon in the Nintendo Direct footage didn't have any either, so comparing Sylveon's 155 Hp to Hydreigon's 152 with both being level 50 it's safe to assume Sylveon will have a base 95 Hp. Just a little observation of mine. So assuming all pokemon in the trailer follow the same patterns, talonflame at level 65 with 212 Hp would have a base Hp of 106 (that's alot for a regional bird), Gogoat at level 50 with 183 Hp would have 123 as it's base, froakie at level 50 with 101 Hp has a base of 41(further signifying it might be speed based and not bulky), Clauncher at level 50 with 126 Hp will have a base of 66, Noivern at level 80 (!) and 226 has a base Hp of 85, and Chespin at level 7 with 25 Hp would have a base of about 58 (indicating it might be the bulky one of the group). Any thoughts on these calculations?

If those calculations in fact do tell us their actual base hp, I'd be glad. I'm high considering froakie, which is weird cuz I tend not to like the water type starters. They're all either bulky, or just too balanced. I want a quick-ass mutha-froaker to actually excel at something.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Fennekin will probably be my starter--but I'm going to withstand a conclusion on that as of yet. Froakie might have potential depending on evolution, but I'm definitely not a Chespin fan right now. Based on the rumor mill, I could definitely see a Fire/Psychic, Water/Fighting, Grass/Dark typing for the final evolutions--it's a good balance. None of the starter designs really "excite" me though. They seem a bit lackluster, in comparison to some of the previous generations to me.

Aside from the starters, I will say that I LOVE Noivern's design. I've been waiting on a bat dragon, and it definitely fits the bill. I don't think Noivern will be a pseudo legendary though--I think it will be above average (and probably a stand alone evolution like Druddigon). I would wager that the strongest attribute it has will be Speed, followed by Attack/Special Attack. Possibly the fastest non legendary Dragon type to date. Probably amongst the ranks of Flygon and Altaria--it will have uses, but will not be ridiculously overpowered. I am curious to see what Noivern's ability selection is as well.

Pancham looks awesome as well. I've always wondered why we never had a panda based Pokemon. Took long enough. If the rumors are true and Pancham's evolution is dual Fighting/Dark, that will be interesting as well. Definitely looking forward to that, if that's the case.

I'm mixed on Fairy type inclusion. I appreciate that we get a new type, but at the same time, I don't like that fact that they seem to have immunity to Dragon type attacks. Dragons have always been the "powerhouse" staple of Pokemon, so it seems a bit disappointing that the Fairy type would be fully immune to Dragon type attacks. Resistant, sure--but totally immune? The Fairy types I've seen don't really impress me yet either. Sylveon seems way too flashy to me for some reason, although I do appreciate that some older Pokemon are getting re typed (like Jigglypuff). I expect Clefairy, Chansey, and a few others to be done the same way of course. Why Marill though? I can see Gardevoir, but Marill? Oh well.

In any event, definitely excited for Gen VI all around. ^_^

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Not sure where to post this, maybe it was already posted somewhere... but according to Serebii, we might be getting a new Pokémon.

During the special preview airing of the new movie, a trailer for Pokémon X & Y was shown and within it, it was announced that a special 3DS LL will be revealed. Due for release in October 2013, the console features a special print of Xerneas & Yveltal on the top case. It is said to come in Blue & Red colours. Also, during the trailer, a Pokémon called Orotto (オーロット), possibly romanised to Aulotte, was said to feature, but this is yet to be confirmed. We'll provide more details and pictures as they come

First thing that came to my mind is an evolutionary relative of Audino.

No, because the Japanese name is Tabunne.

Apparently it was said to resemble Beeheeyem. Aulotte apparently a surname, is there a famous alien case or anything involving that name?

Was the trailer that featured Orotto for the movie or the anime? If it appeared in the movie trailer, it's probably the M17 star and/or the "Mew" of this gen.

Neither movie nor anime trailer, according to Serebii it was in the XY game trailer. So there's a chance we might be seeing it in Corocoro in a few weeks.

If Litleo evolves into a lion with a mane of fire, then I am totally sold on it.

I think it will, as there's an emphasis on its radiating red bang.

Where did you hear/ come across that?

This is the closest thing I could find...

Mythology fans: Xerneas and Yveltal are from Norse mythology? (Pokemon XY) - NeoGAF

Alright. I see the thing about Yveltal, which I guess could make sense, but I didn't notice anything about Xerneas being mute.

The only thing would be; in looking at it's art and it using (Ice Beam?) in the trailer, Xerneas doesn't seem to have a mouth. Or at least a visible one.

I was guessing the same thing also. Oh and sorry for not telling you that the link I posted was only referring to Yveltal being blind.

Neither Xerneas nor Yveltal seem to have a mouth when looking at their designs (to me at least). It makes their designs feel a little alien.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Apparently the idea is Yveltal's eyes make it look blind, and coupled with it being the only Pokemon other than Pikachu that makes a sound in the trailer meaning could be a sound based pokemon relying on sound waves to see like a bat.

Then looking at just how much detail Xerneas has to its eyes compared to all other Pokemon, (No less it having its game version written in them.) apparent complete silence and seeming lack of mouth and ears. Leading to the idea it could be deaf/mute, therefore relying more heavily on vision and light.

This also works with their animal counterparts, birds being noisy and deer being viewed as silent watchers.

Yveltal opens its mouth when it used what seemed to be Hyper Beam, in the trailer, though.

No it doesn't.
