Seems interesting. I'm more interested on why it's part Ghost so I'm curious to what its Pokedex entries will be.

So, can we expect this thing being stuck in a stone or something?

Eh...the design is a bit off-putting, makes it look like a Zelda prop than a Pokemon. Just not really feeling the design, it'll probably grow on me after seeing some fanart. Stat wise I expect it to be an attacker, it's a sword and it's sharp so for offenses I see 110/45/100 and defenses 50/60/70. I imagine it'll have a slew of sword-based sharp moves, Swords Dance, Shell Blade, Leaf Blade, Fury Cutter, Slash, things of that nature.

Not really liking this new Pokémon. It's just a weird looking sword.

I also can't see it being available in the wild. It's probably either a gift or similar to Rotom in the sense that you interact with a possessed sword. Or it could be in some ruins area.

People thought the same thing about Cofagrigus and then we had it in the wild. I wouldn't rule anything out yet.

Cofagrigus is specifically in a buried castle implied to be a tomb. A large number of coffins are seemingly sitting there waiting for Cofagrigus to possess them. I don't know where swords might be numerous. They're generally displayed alongside a knight's armor if they're in an abandoned or decrepit castle.

Ahhhh Steel/Ghost is amazing, hello new favourite Gen VI Pokemon. Sheathed/unsheathed is very intriguing.

Actually I'm not sure it's a separate form, that might just be part of its animation. Its Pokedex description apparently says that it will unsheath itself during battle.

It's its animation, similar to Cyndaquil with and without flames on its back, those aren't separate forms, are they?

Anyways, new addition to my party.

That new sword Pokémon is really cool. I wonder if it will evolve into a full suit of armour?

As for where this new Pokémon might be found - it could be found in a castle area, which would presumably have an armory. Or heck, even a museum having those kind of things in it.

As of now, it's a little underwhelming. I didn't think a floating sword would be an idea for a Steel/ Ghost type. I also hope it evolves into something else and isn't Gen VI's Cryogonal.

It kind of reminds me of Kleever from DKC 2.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I could imagine it being like Cofagrigus with the "ghost" body and a sword in one hand (first evo) a sheid in the other (Split pre-evo for the full thing) and then a suit of armor!

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I just realized this means a haunted castle is to be a likely setting to house such a pokemon. I like this implication,I like it a lot. Also, it seems the eye has a hole for it on the sheath, which is a nice touch. As is the idea that it has a hand to unsheath itself, which is so cool. Cant wait for the evos!

Ghost/Steel huh? If that thing has levitate it could be the first pokemon with 4 immunities (Normal, Fighting, Poison, Ground)

It seems more like the new Banette/Cofagrigus to me. Unless by "Trubbish/Vanillite" you mean the new hated Pokémon, if so, yeah, people already started hating it.

That's what I meant.

It's...okay. But mainly because it's a fresh typing, but I don't see myself using it.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Even though Steel/Ghost is the best defensive typing (it even resists the famous Ghost/Fighting combo), it would be too much if they gave it defensive stats on par with Bronzong or Ferrothorn. Even more so if it gets the Levitate ability, which it may very well get. Knowing GameFreak, and based on the offensive backstory of swords, it could get some nice attacking stats. Although, if it's based on the myth of those unbreakable swords, it could be defensive... Dillema!

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Eh, we've had Ice Cream, Sludge, Gears , Poke Balls and generic animals. So having a sword for a Pokemon, whilst stupid and (dare I say) unoriginal, isn't really that surprising for me. Really hope it evolves, can't see it as a stand alone; I kinda see it as the Litwick of this generation.

On a side note, Ghost/Steel is a neat typing.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Hm... If Monorpale is stupid and unoriginal, what is cool and original then? More boring dogs, cats, bird and fish-based Pokémon? Really, I don't understand how Monorpale, Vanillite, Klink, Chandelure, Cofagrigus and others are unoriginal while Pokémon based on the repetitive animals are super original. Feel free to dislike the swordmon, but no, it isn't unoriginal or stupid.

As a matter of fact, I don't hate animal-based Pokémon or anything like that, as you can note looking to my avatar. I am just legitimately trying to understand the logic behind comments like Force Fire's.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

YES! YES!

Finally a new pokemon was announced with a new type combination other than Fairy or Normal, and a type combination that I have wanted since Gen II. I like the idea of a ghost sword that will unsheath itself in battle. Even though the design is odd, compared to some of the other designs so far in this gen, it is a very original concept. Perhaps I'm just excited over a real Steel/Ghost pokemon.

It's pretty cool, but it looks so bland without the sheath. :< I don't usually mind inorganic Pokemon, but I would like to see more living properties on it when it evolves, like having two eyes and a mouth.

It becomes two swords!
