Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

Everytime I read the name Monorpale I hear the monorail song from the Simpsons in my head. Monorail! Monorail!

The Pokemon itself looks awesome and has a great type combination. I'm not sure if I want it to evolve or not, it seems good enough for me as it is. Hoping we get to see it in the video soon, surprised they haven't uploaded it yet. Depending on how it needs to be caught, I might very well use it on my team, but I really don't want to start deciding things like that yet, when we don't have the full dex. But damn, the sword is so cool.

Well consider the name, mono and vorpale. It suggest a singular sword, which screams evo. However, thinking about it, maybe the evos would be monormor or such going from sword to armor.

I think the second half of his name may refer to "impale" rather than "vorpal." The "ツキ" part of his Japanese name likely corresponds to "突き" (both read: tsuki), meaning a thrust or stab.

So I posted on Serebii posting here now.

Got a user in another forum that is in a FRench convention and just saw a new pokemon in the announcement from Masuda(that aired there already).

His French name is Monorpale and his Japanese name is Hitotsuki

I actually liked the design a lot - the sort of arms details carved on the sheath, and this cool ethereal arm/scarf looks very beautiful. May feels like Zelda, but I think LoZ got neat art though.

And anything is better than two scoops ice cream cone. -.-''

I think Monorpale would be better as an standalone Pokémon. A pre-evolution wouldn't be a bad thing, but an evolution might potentially ruin an awesome-looking Pokémon.

I disagree. I think that the Vanillite line is better than quite a lot of Pokémon, even some of Gen VI, like Talonflame and Litleo.

This. I love it as it is. It would be painful to evolve it, but stoping evolution hinders a Pokémon's full power.

Vanillite isn't bad at all, I prefer to look at it as "snow covered icicles that only look like ice cream", but a matter of opinion.

This sword thing is the only pokemon so far this gen that I don't really care for. Not because it's an inanimate object, but it's just rather bland. Hopefully it turns into something cool.

Hmmmm... Look, you may have changed forever the way I see Vanilluxe. Makes me think of how Ice pokémon also have some kind of eerie thing about them, as if they have some cold supernatural being who animates them, like a Ghost type. And I can't help recalling how I love ice pokémon and how GF making them so broken hurts me. =|

Well, I did like the sword sheath. Mind the details that look like those of a Celtic cross. Reminds me of the grim environment of an ancient Celtic or Nordic cript. Reminds me even of Skyrim. Only in a more childish fashion, lol.

Around 3:51 is the footage of Hitotsuki. I'm not sure what moves it uses, it look like a slash and then something with petals...?

The move Hitotsuki uses is so damn cool! :O

Also, I've seen a similar attack with cherry blossoms and a red background in quite a few Japanese shows, it something common there.

Edit: My memory tricked me, the background isn't really red, but here is a screenshot of a similar move in Nippu Sentai Hurricanger:

I prefer Hitotsuki before it's unsheathed, it actually has a cool face. And I gotta admit, the typing is pretty unique!

Just a bit of speculation: The sword Pokémon is version exclusive; the other version will have a shield.

If that is the case, I hope Hitotsuki is exclusive to Pokémon Y, because that is the game I will be getting at first.

That blade moved it used was so pretty! I wonder if it will be exclusive to it.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I was thinking about how the Steel-type doesn't have many attacking moves that the sword Pokémon can use due to the lack of the required body parts. I don't see much of a reason for a Steel-type Slash-like move to be restricted to this Pokémon, but who knows?

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I found another video with spanish subtitles and managed to translate the text at 4:06. The translator gave me this: "It comes in the form of a sword enclosing an old soul".
So it is a haunted/posessed sword.

Also if you look closely when Hitotsuki attacks Golem the actiual sword dissapears. Could it be part of an attack or is the "soul" able to become invisible?

Diglett can Scratch, Doduo can Fly. For all I know, it could even learn Iron Tail and I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm a native Spanish speaker, so if you handle me the Spanish script or a link to that video I can provide a 100% accurate translation (also, I wanna know everything he said xD).
