Re: The "Real or Not Real" Thread

Sylveon's primary color is pink, that's why they chose it.

Sylveon looks primarily white to me. Only the top of it's head up to it's ears, paws, and tail are pink, along with parts of it's "bows" and "ribbons". The rest of it's body is white along with a majority of the ribbon and bow.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

They focus on the pink more than the white probably because the movie one is a female.

Also, maybe Sylveon is dual typed? It's extremely unlikely and if course I'd expect a new type before that, but I think a dual typed Eeveelution would be awesome.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

We dont know for a fact that there will be new Pokemon revealed or even what we will get, though a few new Pokemon certainly would be nice to see.
my friend speaks fluent Japanese, and where it says May 19th, it says "the god of Pokemon, Mr. Masuda, will be revealing a lot of X/Y information"
sure this doesn't mean there will be new pokemon revealed, but that could be a possibility

alright guys, according to this ポケモンスマッシュ! | ポケットモンスターオフィシャルサイト
sylveon info will be coming on May 12th, and on May 19th, masuda will be giving us some more info on X and Y (presumably new pokemon)

there is no sylveon info promised on may 12th. it says absolutely nothing like that, and i am not sure why people are going around forums telling people we are getting sylveon info on the 12th. its just one of those goofy skits.

You think I don't know this? I'll rephrase. Sylveon's primary colors appear to be soft and pastel'y colors, shades that tend to be viewed as more feminine, and pink is generally viewed as feminine. But when I look at Sylveon, the first thing I notice is its pinkness. It is also notably the first Eeveeution to have pink in its color scheme (excluding previous shinies), so naturally, they would choose pink to represent it. But in the end, colors really don't mean a thing over typings anyway.

It possibly could be if they've chosen pink to represent a certain type which Sylveon has which could be a new one we have not seen. Im not saying that this is completely true and what is happening but it is a possiblility.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

By E4, I meant the Elite Four, not the gaming convention/expo.

OOPS!! LOL When i typed it i thought to myself ... "isn't it E3 not E4" and then just thought I was mistaken!!

Now that i reread your comment it makes so much more sense. yeah i agree with you about having new fairy types before facing the champion but keep all the retconned ones (like clefairy) for afterwards.
Don't want to bring up the dreaded re-make discussion, but its possible that their Gym would either be retconned (in a remake) or simply changed in a future game that revisited Tate/Liza's gym. I'm not sure about it being called "astral" though, but at least that sounds better than simply "space." Isn't it all the same as cosmic energy or aether? The latter is often used in a lot of Greek myths to mean the energy of the stars as well.
The undelying element is aether, which medieval alchemists described as the substance filling the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere. They proposed that a little of the quintessence was present in things on earth, making them affected by what happened in the heavens or in outer space.

Astral is a simpler name to grasp than Aether is, but what made me think of it was the star-themed gym in the first trailer. Not only does it feature a starlit background, but it also curiously transforms into a normal living room. That made me think of astral projection, which could be one of the type's main themes. The trailer also featured a space observatory.

I would also wonder how Xerneas/Yveltal would get something like astral, but I'll wait to find out more about them first. Its also possible that only Sylveon gets a new typing while they in fact do not, which was the case back in Gen 2 with Ho-oh, Lugia, and Umbreon, as well as the Steel typing.
They don't have to be associated with any new type, but aether is a fitting element for them provided that they have anything to do with Greek mythology. I think that they may be tied to the Gaia hypothesis in terms of explaining how Earth maintains conditions for life, and how the evolution of life and its environment affect each other.

No offense but i don't really like the idea of an astral or aether type. I get what you're talking about and it seems cool but space-related stuff has always meshed nicely into the psychic type, since it all about the powers of the mind and stuff.

But the "fairies" we're talking about are beings of cute healey goodness which is not really "normal" so why should it just get normal type? Basically what i'm trying to say is that fairies are not normal, but aliens and space people do seem quite sc-fi psychic; so i think a fairy/light/goodness type is more likely.

I don't know about the 12th, but it was confirmed that on the 19th we were getting big news, and Masuda will be there. Still have no idea about the 12th.

Who wants to place bets on whether the bird has one evolution or two. We haven't seen a bird line with only two since gen III. I could see us being due for one. Thing seems pretty small though so I could see it going twice.

If the bird's English name isn't Robird, I will be disappointed.

OMFG. An actual bird that looks like something nature popped out. Last time we had this was what.....Swellow? So happy, can't wait to see its evolutions. The rest are great, and the lizard looks like it can grow on me. Goat is definitely the highlight, proper boss it is.

How? Other than the colour at the top of its head, it looks more like someone decapitated some poor sap from Animal Crossing and glued its head onto a lizard body that was painted yellow and black.

Apparently, yes. The coloring is very similar.

If the newt wasn't electric-type, I bet a lot of people would've thought it was 99.99% a Mawile pre-evo.

It has the same coloring, but that's it. It didn't look anything like Mawile to me.

o_O Which is why I was saying it could've had people confused. Remember Luvdisc and Alomomola? Similar shapes, similar coloring? A lot of people thought for sure they Luvdisc could evolve into Alomomola, but they weren't related.

Re: Revealed Gen VI Pokemon Discussion/Speculation Thread

I thought it was a Mawile pre-evo at first too. Mostly yellowish body, black hands/feet, and a black head with two ribbons coming out of it just like Mawile? The black part even splits on the forehead in a VERY the similar way Mawile's does. C'mon.

I'm most likely going to use Gogoto as my main mode of transportation just for the novelty and its design. Of course I now wonder what other pokemon we might be able to ride.
