SwSh Gen8 fossil discussion thread

You know, I would just love if the true forms of the gen 8 fossils were revealed in a future game put together by true Pokémon scientists and they all just drag Cara Liss to filth.

I love the idea of this happening.

I'm now imagining a livid Roark yelling at Cara Less about her mistreatment of the fossil hybrids, having to be held back by his fellow scientists out fear that he will try and fight her.

Or better yet, Officer Jenny and the rest of the police department arresting her SWAT style.

So, I don't know about any of y'all but the whole fossil and Cara Liss situation always screamed "this smells like a plot point that'll get expanded upon in a third release"... but with the advent of the DLC campaigns I've been thinking about what I might like to see beyond the two planned releases so far and here's an idle idea I had that tries to tie together plots and characters I felt could do with expanding upon:

So you boot up the game and you start in your room with your mother delivering you a letter. Inside is a ticket to the newly opened paleontology exhibition of Galar and a note saying that as the Champion you have an automatic invitation. So you go to the opened museum in Wyndon and are greeted by the head Curator - an older gentleman by the name of Barret. He reveals that he's been out of Galar for some time, studying the ways of Fossil Revival as discovered by Hoenn's Devon Corporation and is worried about the ethics an potential abuse of it. Barret asks if it isn't too much trouble, if you the Champion would keep an ear out and look into anybody suspicious having anything to do with fossils. After agreeing you head out to leave but you spot Gordie conspicuously hanging around the entrance, you approach him and he says hello (if Shield he explains who he is) before rushing off as Barret can be see greeting guests.

Seeing as the player likely remembers Cara Liss you head to her known location on Route 8 but find that she's mysteriously vanished and there's some black suited goons cleaning up her equipment. The black suits challenge you to a battle when suddenly Gordie appears and backs you up as you double battle the goons. After you win Gordie finally explains himself that he's the son of Barret and always shared his father's love of Rock type Pokémon, but also wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps as a Gym Leader and so he tried to combine the two (if Sword then he succeeded). However due to his father's studies often taking him overseas, Gordie has a strained personal relationship with him. You interrogate the defeated suits and they confess that Cara Liss is an operative of Team Rocket who seeks to monopolise the trade on Fossil Pokémon using Galar as an outlet since there's no equivalent to the Devon Corporation in Galar to control it (especially now with Rose gone).

You and Gordie report what you find back to Barret who is disappointed to hear that Cara Liss is involved as she was a former student of his but she vehemently disagreed with Barret's opposition to reviving Fossil Pokémon into the modern day and so she left to pursue her ambition. Barret himself has come to terms with Fossil Revival so long as it's done ethically and proper environments are made for the Pokémon to safely inhabit without disrupting local wildlife. As such he is horrified to find out the results of Cara Liss' work and her "revival" of Fossil Pokémon. Melony then arrives and says that as Galar's Champion it's your responsibility to root out troublemakers but not to worry as the three of them (Melony/Gordie/Barret) will back you up as a family.

So you arrive at the small island that TR and Cara Liss are operating out of. You storm their base, doing double battles with both Melony and Gordie whilst also solving puzzles with Barret until you eventually reach the control room. Cara Liss has been waiting for you, now an admin of Team Rocket and challenges you to a battle. Barret then steps up and says he'll join you as despite not being a professional Trainer he has made plenty of Rock hard friends along the way. You double battle Cara Liss who uses her abominations of Fossil Pokémon whilst Barret uses the classic Rock type Fossils. You win and Cara Liss rants about not understanding why her creations are inferior. Barret explains that because she didn't try to understand how the Fossil Pokémon naturally lived, she mismatched the parts which got in the way of bringing out their full potential. Cara Liss admits defeat and hands herself over to the authorities. The four Galarian Fossil Pokémon now roam the island for players to catch if they didn't already have one of each, Barret reveals that although he can't simply detach and rearrange the parts of the Pokémon already revived...he'll look into ways of helping them cope with their new lives. Thus if the player takes a Galar Fossil Pokemon to Barret then he'll give you an item that allows them to Evolve into a form that more naturally incorporates their even design, looking more badass.

Anyways, you and Barret rejoin Melony and Gordie. Depending on the version: (Shield) Gordie will swear to combine Rock type battling with being a Gym Leader someday with his parents cheering him on... or (Sword) his parents will remark on how proud they are of how Gordie inherited the burden of Gym Leader whilst staying true to himself as a Rock specialist. Regardless they have a happy family reunion and walk off into the sunset as the player watches.

...Yeah, I spent far too much time thinking about this but hey what can you do when you can't leave the house eh?

i don't mind the gen 8 fossils, but i do feel like some of them overshadow others as far as usefulness goes. =s perhaps i'm wrong, but i feel like dracovish and dracozolt generally overshadow arctovish and arctozolt so there's not much reason to go for the latter two, although they may have their niche uses, i think.

I just hope we get non-Rock Type fossils from here on out.

agreed. it was actually a nice change to have non-rock type fossils this generation and it allowed for some interesting type combinations! hopefully game freak experiments a bit more in generations moving forward. :>

not in trick room. they got the same good signature moves... Beak Bolt and Fishous Rend
we got a ice/electric pokemon that in hail, eletric terrain and aura veil is a hard hitter.

Arctofish is the only water/ice with slush rush and becomes the fastest in hail out of each water/ice pokemon.

Arctozolt is faster then Alolan Ninetales and Heliolisk in hail, with bigger attack then both of them and impresive special attack .

Everything depends on team , strategy and usement

in weather teams they get their stabs and multiuse on situations especially in doubles when partners use allhittin moves and they have volt absorb or water absorb to gain from it.

Lame that you cant change their forms via the oposite fossil or item during battle to the other... if those would be forms... imagine then that... fossils with form changes is something that could be even more interesting in future
