Speculation General Remake Discussion

Trying to remember what moments there were in HGSS or Unova where both screens were used “together” apart from cutscenes.

Most of the time the action was on one screen and the menu was on the other. If that’s the case, it would make sense that they could place the screens side by side - that was an option on Wii U VC - and even resize the windows in real time if need be, depending on which one takes priority.

If anything, a rerelease of the DS games would be great just so we could have them at an affordable price again.

In BDSP they made the menu accessible on a single screen by pressing the X button. I'd imagine they would do that for the Unova remakes as well.

I keep thinking pitch black and blinding white for the remakes. The original games had some big cities which really gives them a lot to work with ‍♀️

Do people think the Black and White remakes will connect to a separate application for Dream World like functionality, implement a Dream World into the base game, or ignore the mechanic entirely?

Personally, I think using a separate application is the most ideal. Yes, I know that people would probably lean toward a solution built into the game after the Dream World shut down all those years ago, but I think there's something magical in sending a Pokemon to another device and back and I think it's worth doing something similar even if it gets shut down later on. Plus, it would be hard to resist the concept of releasing a Dream World 2.0 at the same time as Pokemon Sleep for a 1-2 punch of cross media synergy.

I don't know, as I think that the BW remakes will be on the successor of the Switch and I don't know how that console will play.

This thread is a thread for speculation and discussion about remakes, primarily gens 9 and 10
Some possible ideas:
Unova remakes?
Let's go Johto?
Legends (insert mythical Pokemon here)?
SINNOH CONFIRMED AGAIN!!!11!!1!?
Deep Black and Vast White, like legendaries and what most have said (I read things about it)
Let’s Go Johto seems likely, but idk honestly
A Legends OG Dragon (after Unova remakes) or Legends Zygarde (after Kalos remakes, which is probably not gonna happen since Kalos is in 3D already)
No, no more Sinnoh, we already got out in 2022 and it took away focus from Galar which needed it more (and no, I’m not saying I hate Sinnoh, it’s one of my favorite regions).

I guess they’d probably ignore it, since it is like nearly 13 years old (it JUST died nearly 9 years ago, and I never got to see it EVER, whenever I hear its music, it is nostalgic). Plus, Global Link retired three years ago and got replaced by the Nintendo Switch Online (did Sword/Shield ever use the Global Link before it died?).

They’d probably make something similar, since after BW the DS WiFi connection shutdown (so did Dream World) in like 2014. DPPt/HGSS has used a WiFi Connection thing, afaik they didn’t make a similar thing for BDSP.
Edit: I guess they did. I think that’s called Union Room or something, right?

I’m excited to see Johto again. The Johto games were some of my favorites in the series.
Me too. Johto’s probably my third favorite region due to it being Japanese-inspired and because HGSS/Crystal (Gold and Silver are fine, I prefer their remakes—since I can play as a girl, and I’m not trying to be sexist—and Crystal for the same reason and The Legend of Thunder obvi).
I saw a video speculating Legends Celebi and a video speculating Let’s Go games (one of which had Let’s Go Cleffa/Igglybuff/Pichu and Let’s Go Azurill)

Just imagine what Johto would look like in the Scarlet and Violet style. It would be amazing, and I'm even thinking that Terastal will be in it, with Whitney changing her type specialty to Fairy but keeping her infamous Miltank (with it Terastalizing into a Fairy-type).

I just now imagined that as I read that. That’d be fun. I don’t have a problem with her as a Normal leader, but I think Whitney being a Fairy one may be interesting to see.

Whitney fits as a Fairy-type specialist, especially considering that her favorite Pokémon Clefairy is now a pure Fairy type. The type also fits with her cute little girl aesthetic.

That’s true! I forgot she had a Clefairy lol
I’d love to see her also have Paldea Pokémon (if it lets anyone have any and doesn’t pull a BDSP and restrict it to Gens 1-2 only); guess my idea for her team would be:
  • Miltank (ace obviously)
  • Clefairy (another ace)
  • Wigglytuff
  • Hatterene
  • Audino
  • Sylveon
I was gonna add Tinkatuff but I didn’t know if it would fit her aesthetic or not

I would just have it be Clefairy and a Miltank that Terastalizes into a Fairy type. Your team would be perfect for a late game rematch team.

After seeing BDSP barely changed anything, I don't really want anything like it again. However, I hope they do a sequel for BW2, and with how LA has proven that prequels can happen to already pre-existing games, then the same should be for sequels.

Considering what ILCA did to DP (BDSP), I don’t think I want BW remakes anymore.
I don’t know which one I want more, BW3 or the Legends Kyurem/OG dragon game.
Most likely the Legends game because Legends Arceus is one of my favorite games lol

Yeah, I was just mentioning in the Controversial Opinions thread how I don't think remakes serve much purpose anymore, they can just throw the old versions of the games on NSO now (not so much with the DS and 3DS games right now, but a next gen Switch could potentially fix that). If they want to make full $60 games set in old regions I want to see more sequel/prequel reimaginings like LA or BW2. These older games are extremely limited by significantly weaker hardware and smaller, less diverse pools of Pokemon and they don't seem to want to change too much because it could mess with nostalgia. But with a reimagining that doesn't have to stick to the script? Go wild with it. Radically overhaul the map designs. Come up with completely new stories and characters. Throw in tons of Pokemon to the regional dex that weren't there originally to give us legitimate variety. All that stuff would really give these older regions a much needed facelift and would really justify the $60 price tag.
