A theory that just popped up into my head. Recently we heard about a return to Kanto for the Switch, well what if that is true but not in the way that we think it is. We have been thinking about the return to Kanto being the whole game. What if they are going to do something similar to Gen 2 where Kanto is actually the post game. I don't know how much is true but this leak, whether fake or real has given me the idea of it.

I’ve thought if that too. It would be preferable over it being the main region. Annoying still, but preferable.

That could be possible. I do hope tho if they go that route that they flesh out Kanto more this time. It'll be pretty disappointing if they throw it in and it's empty and lame haha

Even though there are a lot of people saying that these are fake due to small grammatical errors, like literally, let's just wait and see .

Totally calling this as real IN MY OPINION . Like seriously, watch these be 100% real and then everyone who said they were fake will have egg on their face. Haha .

I mostly hope for a good grass starter this time. Our last good grass type starter was Sceptile, and megas just made Venusaur and Sceptile much better. Other than them Grass has been getting the short end these years

I mostly hope for it to be hard to choose which one I want. For those of us that are big battlers and stuff, design is important. I haven’t liked all designs since gen 3. I also hope we don’t get another charizard/ grenunja type. It kind of ruins the appeal.

I just would think a person would atleast know proper Japanese before working for a Japanese company.
That sort of thing gets you laughed at if you don't.
Unless some non japanese dude designed them. Actually can that happen?

Yeah I highly doubt they'd allow someone not fluent in Japanese to design a Pokemon. On top of that the final concept art would need to be given over to Ken Sugimori for the final yes or no. There's no way they'd be cool with the Japanese being lazily slapped together when the other designers would likely have it written correctly.

...especially a starter Pokemon, those get particularly close scrutiny.

As for the images themselves, I think the "no side views" is a stronger argument than the "sloppy grammar" argument. Of course, it's not as strong as the "hey guys, I'm the one who faked this" argument....

Exactly. I'd be surprised if the notes on any of the concept art was sloppy, but on the starters I can't see them making ANY mistakes what so ever. They'd be drawn up with the utmost care.

So like. A thought .

They generally go through several designs before choosing the ones that make the final cut.

If these don't end up being the starters, but are somehow confirmed to be in some way legitimate, then I'd say that these were just concept art that the Sugimori (or the designers) liked enough to want to frame and hang as a way to celebrate a great design that ultimately didn't make the game .

Additionally, I'm unsure if anyone has already pointed this out, but the text of the characters are also all in different styles. One seems typed, and the other two seem like they've been somewhat hand-written. This could also support why there may be a grammatical error or two.

I'd imagine this is definitely something they would do, as a company, especially one as close knit as they seem.

And I'd also imagine that if the "2nd place", commemorated designs were hanging, they'd also serve as reminders for possible future generation starters or even as basis for non-starter Pokémon.

We definitely know that this is something Game Freak participates in (revisiting old ideas/designs) so why couldn't this also be a thing.

Anyways.

We will Wait and See.
