On a somewhat related note, I still find that whole Pokemon Switch announcement to be strange. If Pokemon for the Switch was planned for 2018 why not wait until 2018 to announce it especially with us/um on the way?
All Pokemon had planned for 2017 was re-releases, and the public response to them wasn't terribly kind ("Where's Pokemon on Switch!?")...I think their formal announcement was a way to reassure anyone uncertain and give us some trajectory.

I just expect them to, if possible, ad some animations or polish some 3D models.
Some just need a bit of 'oomph' imo.

If Pokemon for the Switch was planned for 2018 why not wait until 2018 to announce it especially with us/um on the way? They had plenty of good games lined up for 2017 and people already had a good reason to get the switch in 2017 why not make Pokemon a good reason to have a switch in 2018 since they have fewer big games this year anyways.
The reason for what is simple people not getting that usum is just a filler until the switch game.
Remember how pissed many people where cause they didnt understand this fact.

The only thing I'm concerned about in terms of how things look is the world itself, since they'll have to do that from scratch.

Was the 3DS really what held back everything from being expansive? I guess so since the last time I remember routes being complex was in the 5th gen. However, instead of having that, we had like one city that was super complex and it seemed like they wanted Alola to feel big, but couldn't quite do it.

I agree. I love Alola, but it's always felt so small to me for a region.

Granted, I'm sure It's possible that it's a nornal size for a Pokemon region, and it was nice that they expanded it some in USUM, but it still felt small.

Looking at the past couple of pages, and it reminds me of when Black and White were first revealed. Even though they were officially confirmed from the get-go that they were for the DS instead of the 3DS, people threw a fit and would not accept that Gens 4 and 5 were going to be for the DS. Folks, if they say "2018 or later", that means that there's a likely possibility that it'll be in 2018 or later. Judging by the last few tidbits we got, it's looking like they're pushing closer for a 2018 release.

If it does come out in 2018, how does that make it a rushed game? Just, why? And what exactly will be "rushed"? Is it the story that people are worried about or something else? I also get the feeling that people are throwing that term around whenever there's just only one thing about a game they don't like. 3 years of development should be plenty of time to develope a story, not to mention they've appeared to have brought in outside help according to the contacts of one of you guys.

Some people feel that its rushed because it came only 2 years after the next gen and on a new console on top of that, the game might feel rushed and underdeveloped.

Yes... it will be the story and i am sure people are gonna complain that the game is easy (Just like with XY), without realizing that gen 8 is basically their test-game for the Switch (Just like XY was for the 3ds, with the new 3d and all), since GF doesn't have expierence with a home console/hybrid.

A 3-year gap between gens might solve that issue slightly (Story wise, not easiness), in peoples mindset. This is also the reason i don't want a 2018 release (Although i am not gonna complain if we do), since i can already see the flak coming when the game is easy if the game comes in 2018 (They should have waited until 2019 because the game is too easy) and that flak then most of the time comes from people who wanted a 2018 release.

It's this. They don't want another Gen V Situation where the new games come out before the new system, but close enough for it to seem questionable, and then the second versions come out after the new system has been released. They needed to be upfront about the switch version.

Alright guys

So how about February 6th for a Gen 8 announcement
Its Mewtwo's birthday and It just so happens to land on a tuesday
Mewtwo is related to DNA (It even has 2 mega evos)
Dna is related to evolution
They are selling merch of eevee with project eevee.
Eevee is the evolution Pokémon
Moving from a 240p 3ds to a handheld with full blow console power is a very big EVOLUTION

Alola is very complex. I appreciate it even more after playing Gen VI. Instead of updating the Pokemon models, they made it so that each area had its own unique battlefield. In Gen VI, sometimes I'd be walking in a field of flowers when it would go to a battle. Suddenly I'd be battling in a mountain arena with the circle my character is in being the only indication that this is taking place in a field of flowers. That means a lot of 3D spaces that are very specific and not reusable. It also introduced trainers appearing on the field, as well as a much more realistically scaled world. These are all major changes to a Pokemon game and take time to build. I think that's why it feels less like an exploration game.

It's almost like a tech demo of what's to come and getting us calibrated for the switch game. It sets up precedent that a new Gen can mean the same Pokemon models with a more immersive world. It's not the same feeling as other gens, but I do think it pulls off some impressive feats that make it feel like something that's always been there. I was surprised by how much Gen VI didn't have these specific arenas when going back. They're mostly relegated to a few story moments and even then it's a mixed bag. Like every time you use the holocaster it's one of only a few backgrounds. Gen VII's changes are very quiet for the most part, but I appreciate every one of them for what they set us up to expect from a game in the future.

If Zeraora was already revealed I'd say sure, but since it isn't and rumor has it's not coming until at least sometime in the Chinese new year I'd say we'll still be waiting about a month before a new game announcement. First Zeraora then the new game. It could possibly happen in the same month, but my bet is the Switch game will be announced in March.

There's also another matter. It seems as if they made Alola to where it was going to be one continuous map, but had to segment it instead. It may be asking too much of them to do that.

They can reveal them both in the same direct. They don't really need to reveal zeraora first because its for the movie and not for gen 8 Advertizement

Pretty much this. People are anticipating Odyssey/Breath of the Wild graphics when really they shouldn't be. I think what we got with the graphics and overall environment in Gen 7 is what we'll be getting on the Switch. I'm sure there will be improvements, but I don't think they're going to be huge. This is why previously I had said 3 years of development should be enough for this game, because the graphics won't be such a big issue to deal with as much as the other stuff.

But, I'm also open to the possibility of graphics similar to Colosseum and XD, or even Battle Revolution. Colosseum and XD were double battles by default, and I don't quite remember any lagging in the gameplay during battles. The Switch I think has quit a bit more capacity than the Gamecube and the Wii, so we'll see.

Maybe, but that's the second least likely event to happen. The first being them announcing the new game before it's reveal in general. They could reveal them both in the same direct, but I'm not so sure about that. Although I suppose it is possible so I won't go too hard line against it. Still think it'll happen the way I said above tho.
