They did make Pokemon X and (What is currently commonly abbreviated as) Pokemon SM.

Pokemon Flame and Freeze sound nice, but I wouldn’t object to Pokémon Blaze.

And then Dimond and Peral ended up getting pushed back anyways right?

That's the part of this that seems off to me, they've done this before and regretted it. Why not wait until 2018 when they could be surer of a solid release date? That's the part of this that seems off to me and it just gives me that strange feeling like there is something about this we're missing.

Yeah, they did get pushed back. And like I said - a delay is certainly not out of the question. I'll be quite impressed if we get a quality game released in November/December. All I mean to assert is that 2018 is definitely their official goal (whether or not they meet it is yet to be seen, of course).

They may have also done the early announcement just to affirm that they'll be making a move to the Switch - since this is certainly a first for them, something that some may see as unexpected? Dunno.

Alright, let's say it's a Kanto sequel. How many characters do we have that could possibly show up?

We have:

-Gladion and Lillie heading there.
-N looking for Hilda/Hilbert.
-Cynthia and her connection to Johto.
-Wormhole Giovanni*
-Possibly all the villains from the previous games if Giovanni shows back up.
-Silver, who should show up if Giovanni is part of this.

There's gotta be something from Gens III and VI, but I can't think of anything right now.

What I'm saying is if they do sequels and it takes place in Kanto and Johto and involves all of the generations, I'll feel pretty satisfied.

*The ancients really screwed up giving Giovanni Wormhole Tech.

I've been meaning to ask, but why is:

  • US/UM are being kept under wraps because their plot connects directly into these games
Labeled as iffy in the main post? Rainbow Rocket definitely ends with implications for future games, if not necessarily the next one.

Doesn't X just stand for hugs or kisses? Though they sometimes don't think things through. After all SM could be Sadist Masochist (I say as I have a movie about different shades of grey on ironically.)

Flame and Freeze don't really sound good.
-N looking for Hilda/Hilbert.
Also Hilda/Hilbert looking for N.

If a Kanto game connected all the games, like how they advertised SM, then I might be more willing towards it. Especially if they do Hilda instead of Hilbert and she meets N again. <3

Though it's doubtful we'll get that so we're stuck with fanfics.

maybe it's something that none will see coming..
pokemon Z, we still didn't get a game for zygarde
edit: they also said in usum that zygarde is in alola because the ultra beasts, maybe it's a hint for what coming next.

I am pretty sure with the TCG set's are lining up with the month of the Legendary. So Ultra Prism is heavily Sinnoh base and is out in the month were we are getting Dialga and Palkia as an event. Forbidden light (Which is the set Joe is talking about) is heavily Kalos based and I believe is out in May which Xerneas and Yveltal's month.
So I don't know but I mean, anything can happen I guess.

Honestly, that Generations episode was so satisfying for me, even with the stilted dialogue and delivery. I was like, "Where's Nate or Rosa?" But then Hilbert showed up and I gasped, which I can't believe I did. That was actually shocking, especially that pairing. I feel for the Hilda/N shippers, though. I hope if they do show up, you somehow get to pick which character they reunite with. I'm so wary about going back to Kanto, but if they make it the culmination of all the series, even if it's post game stuff, I will give it all the praise and say the fan service was worth it in the end.

Generations actually makes it to where I don't want them to do that because it has the issue where it literally only uses the male protags. Red, Ethan, Brendan, Hilbert, and Calem are the only protags that appeared. One could try to argue that May was in the spacesuit, but following the plot of ORAS it would be Brendan.

If they do a Kanto game in gen 8 that isn't a remake and is an actual sequel then I hope they connect the other games, and BALANCE the genders. Ignoring my shipping preferences, it kind of sucks when we don't see the female protags ever in the position of protagonist.

I would actually be interested to see them implement a system similar to the BW2 Flashback system when you can battle Cheren's old team, and everyone talks about you from BW.

Speaking of Pokémon Generations, I've been carefully hoping that now that Generation VII is over, maybe we'd get new Generations episode for SM/USUM. Unless that series was just part of the 20th anniversary celebrations, in which case it would seem pretty unlikely.

I'd hate a Kalos revisit so soon. The game has been fun to revisit, but the region is so mixed. Sometimes you'll have this awe-inspiring tower. The next minute you'll be walking on a route that's just 50 steps to get through. It starts off so strong, taking a long time between each gym battle. Then you run into a bunch in succession and Lysandre is like, "ugh, no one is paying attention to me. All 2 of you who have a Holocaster, Calem and Serena, I'm going to destroy the world now. Please just let me be relevant so I didn't dress up for nothing." And then Calem tells you, "Honestly, I don't know what's going on but I wonder where he could be in Lumiose City that's not Lysandre Cafe?" So you fly to Lumiose city and then see that the cab will drive you to the cafe, but first since Lysandre and the Professor are friends you decide to check to see what he thinks about all of this. "How's your Pokedex coming along? Want to show me yours from one of the regions?" Okay, so the professor doesn't even care, great. Anyway, you go to Lysandre Cafe, press a button, and then are told it doesn't matter what you picked. So you go and Lysandre only gets himself killed or eternally crushed from being such a failure at everything. Then the professor shows up and was like, "Wow, that was scary. I thought about confronting him, but decided it wasn't worth my time. Bye!" And then you finish the game wondering what in the world even happened since it goes by so quick.

I get that it could be expanded and I actually think Lysandre's story has potential as every time a character talks about him after he's defeated makes him sound infinitely more interesting, like the Professor talking about overpopulation or his friend saying he initially cared about people, but came to the conclusion they were all too stupid to help themselves. Who are you nonspecific NPC? Why are you more interesting than our villain? And the overpopulation aspect is such a cool story beat, especially with how many Pokemon there are now. It just doesn't make a lick of sense in Kalos with its barebones world and lack of anything resembling overpopulation. There were more people in Unova's Castelia. It just seems like a game where they completely lost the thread by the end of it. Even Az is just there.

So if they do Pokemon Z, I just hope they get their story straight so it works thematically. The threads are there: is one life worth the cost of many? But it just kind of puts things next to each other rather than tying them all together. Heck, introduce Celebi and time travel to Kalos 3000 years ago, having Az try to change the past with your help, ultimately failing but earning Floette's faith. It's instantly a more memorable game and would technically be two regions. While keeping a lot of reusable assets.

No doubt the truly most interesting things in Kalos were the little secrets like the messages at the train station and the ghost girl,. And the obvious secret love story of the professor and your mother.

In seriousness I would actually like a re visit to Kalos like Johto did Kanto. But actual explanation of the plot better or something.

Oh, I totally agree that having only the male characters was disappointing. (Especially Calem who I just don't care for at all. *coughs*) I'm about 50/50 on which character I choose, often choosing the other if I get a second version. I happened to choose Hilbert for White and all those scenes...Yeah. Plus the two of them searching for each other? It's too much.

Maybe they could let you choose the character and starter, like a quiz, before the game? They already ask you some fourth wall breaking questions, so why not?

That would be great, especially if they were actual unseen moments like Anabel first showing up.

Why am I getting Mystery Dungeon vibes from that suggestion...?

I wouldn't be a fan .People Could just look up quiz answers for the starter that they want.
What if they don't and end up with a starter that they don't want? That would be fair for kids who can't into internet
