You're just kidding yourself there. You know they will still sell them separately because it makes them more money.

Obviously USUM was already an example of this. But given that Switch games are more expensive and probably take a little longer to make, it's not impossible.

And they will stop making two identical copies of the game except for exclusives, too.

Do you guys think that if they do want to meet the 2018 release date, they could expand the game throughout the following year through the form of free or paid dlc?
I think so. Third versions should not be acceptable in todays world because you are basically selling DLC at full price. Even the 3ds has dlc access so I don't know why they didn't just make ( Pokemon sun and moon ultra update) or something.

more money, the selling 40$ dlc instead of 20$.

Y'all are talking like Game Freak develops two completely different games and releases them at the same time. Pick any pair of games and you'll see that they're 95% identical (if not more). Thus, it only takes a bit of work to change one game into another (or split them since I don't know how they develop), which means huge profit margins.

Platinum proved there is no real need to sell 2 games. You can base all the exclusives off ID Number or a question as in Emerald.

So kids still have to trade and interact to Catch Em All etc which is apparently Game Freak's goal, they just don't have to buy 2 games. (If they can create a save file externally

So my source is saying there may be a chance they actually announce the new game at E3 this year. They can't say concretely, but they say it's likely. That would place the release date somewhere in early 2019. So more or less within the margin of error that we've all been talking about. So here's a new prediction from me. I think if they announce at E3 then we'll get the rest of the year with news on the game. The usual stuff going on only instead of it happening in the next few months it starts in June more or less. So like I've said before we'll likely have the Switch game by May of next year. Maybe even in April or March if not earlier.

I mean they technically already announced the game at E3...but now I'm just being pedantic.

What would we get at E3 though? The way these things tend to go is we get the title drop and maybe the starters if we're lucky and then we have a month or two of radio silence before we start getting the slow trickle of info. E3 presentations are huge affairs that can reveal rather large portions of the games. Look at Breath of the Wild, we got tones of gameplay from those presentations more than enough to understand how the game played at what it was about. What would they even put into a Pokemon E3 announcement?

I mean a real announcement not just saying it exists lol Anyway I'm sure we'd get at least something similar to the XY announcement where they show off some gameplay, the starters, and maybe tease the legends. They could even reveal more too. If the battle system really is different then they may want to hit on that right out of the gate rather than letting it go a few months before talking about it. The earlier they show it off to people the longer we'll have to get used to it.

Is this the same source that claimed March before?

No they never claimed a specific time before. Also I'm pretty no source really claimed a specific time. There was the one industry analyst that predicted that March may be a big month for a reveal (either Pokemon, Smash, or Animal Crossing), but none of the people I've seen have said anything like that. March is really just a speculated month since the predicted month for release is December. (it's about the time frame the last 2 gens have had a prerelease). In the end it really doesn't change much. we've all been speculating that if the game doesn't come out this year it'll happen in early 2019. If it gets fully announced in June at E3 then we can safely say that it will come Spring 2019. Only problem is that we're still about 5 months away from E3 and that wait could kill some people hahaha

The thing is though is that the E3 announcement wasn't a formal one... I don't even know if that's the right word, but yeah. It was more or less a "hey, we're currently working on a game for the Switch" and that was it. It could change, but they typically don't make the big title announcement of the games during E3. With Gen 6 and especially Gen 7, they've been relying on the Internet with the official Pokemon websites, YouTube channels, and Twitter accounts to make those announcements and release information. I don't really see them changing that anytime soon since they seem to be utilizing that method for their marketing strategy.

@TheMonster6893 I'm a little confused, you had sources that claimed a March announcement, now they're saying E3? Or am I mixing things up? Haha.

I personally believe the main focus of determining when the game will come is again, the reveal of Zeraora.
Like stated above, we could just get an announcement at E3.
But I think it's safe to make a solid guess that we should, in theory get Zeraora in February's corocoro.
February has always been a popular month to show mythical pokemon off such as Magearna, Hoopa Confined, Diancie, Keldeo, Zorua and Zoroark (I know not mythicals but the first of Gen 5), Arceus, Shaymin, Darkrai, Manaphy and Lucario's silhouette .

So I think it is a solid shout to say Zeraora's chances of being shown this month is very high and then places the announcement of the switch game being at any time. Could be on the 27 of Feb, could be a random day in march so the December release theory stays in shape or could be at E3.

Something I have noticed just looking at the TCG pattern since Gen 5 is that the final mythical is always the mascot for the second to last set of that Gen. This is probably just a coincidence but just something noticed.

I kind of want to say just cause of the fast pace of all the other media's, 2018 is still the plan.

Those starters could still end up real (Though Imo probs not) due to the different coloring in the online scan compared to the ones that are framed and that the author online reluctantly declined to give a timestamp.

Just exciting months too come I guess. I want to say the moment we hear that a big sideline game such as Mystery Dungeon or maybe even Rangers (Rip the dream) is announced, that would probably mean it will be 2019.

EDIT: Just to add on at the end, just remembered the Anime is getting a new opening and ending on the 7th which is normally the earliest Corocoro leaks ever pop up. So might get something maybe out of that.

No? I've said that I think March will be when it happens based on what we know, but I don't think I've ever said that my source specifically stated March would be the time of the announcement. Maybe I wasn't clear enough and that's my bad. At this point they think E3 will be when the game gets announced based on their info. That's the only time they've ever told me a specific time for when they think the game will come. We shall see what happens tho.

Are they pretty confident that E3 will be when they announce the games? Or do they think E3 is a possible choice? Last are they also predicting early 2019 or is that your assumption? Because If early 2019 is true then I am pretty bummed out. I would really love the games to come out in December or at the very least know more about the games before E3.

What does your source have to say about the starters leaked?

Tbh I wouldn't expect any Gen 8 news until May or June .Maaaaybe April if they're feeling generous.

March is always movie news in Corocoro while February Corocoro is meant for mythical Pokemon reveals mostly .

We'll see.

Wait, what?

It should say platinum or emerald sorry.
In Emerald when it came between choosing whether Latias or Latios was roaming you had to answer a question. Similarly in Platinum some of the things that were version exclusive in diamond or pearl depended on what was the last digit of your ID number.

Besides things as simple as starter choices means you can't catch em all in 1 game save anyway so why do they need to make 2 games?
